  1. NJT cross honoring For PATH this Sunday (no service between Harrison and Journal Square due to track work) https://www.panynj.gov/path/en/planned-service-changes.html Hopefully NJT makes its conductors aware of the cross honoring unlike the MTA, considering PATH is run by Port Authority... a different agency I'm not holding my breath. There will also be shuttle buses between Newark Penn and JSQ.
  2. Don't remember the numbers of the entire consist but one of the sets was 311x (don’t remember the last digit). Was gonna take a pic but it pulled out as soon as the doors on my train opened.
  3. I just seen an NIS R179 come though 71st - Forest Hills on the express track heading towards Jamaica Yard..
  4. I just seen three of the four R211 sets in service within like a 10 minute span. Two of them are running back to back N/B right now. Just missed one at Broadway Junction N/B, took the train, seen the second set going S/B at Rockaway Ave, then the 3rd set passed my train at Kingston - Throop.
  5. There was an Arrow 3 set in service today on the NEC. I was kinda pissed lol because I would have changed plans and rode it but I had already brought an LIRR ticket to Ronkonkoma before I went to track level. Seen it parked in Penn Station. Yeah, I could saved the LIRR ticket for another time but I didn't want to spend too much money today. It was hot and humid and I wanted to do an long commuter rail trip in the A/C to kill the afternoon.
  6. They are in service on weekends, just missed one yesterday. They are rare to encounter as there's only four sets and the is one of the longest line in the system. I wouldn't be surprised if a set or two is laid up on weekends or one is getting inspected at Pikin. I don't even think all 13 R179 sets are in service at the same time on weekends. The R46s are beat up but I don't think they go out of their way to layup as many as possible and press every single NTT they have into service on weekends
  7. Does the MTA really save that much money, by ending the B46 at Fillmore Ave, three blocks short of Kings Plaza? I was on an B46 that short turned at Fillmore today, The B46 local behind it was an Fillmore bus too, these runs end there, loop around and pull into the depot. There wasn't another B46 local to KP coming so I just walked the rest of the way.
  8. Yeah, quite a few routes one way in recent years, the Q35, Q53 SBS and the S78 and S79. The S78 trip was supposed to be an Ferry - 78 to Tottenville - 74 to Ferry trip. But I failed to complete the trip when I transferred to an S93 back to Brooklyn after getting off the 74, didn't feel like riding the full 74 after riding the full 78. It's a very hard trip to do on hard seat buses.
  9. I think there's one poster here has experience with this kinda thing, but I can't tag him because I don't know how to spell his screen name. Starts with a J.. EDIT: @JAzumah
  10. I guess they are having trouble finding ops to do O/T for the subway shuttle as there's an advisory for multiple shuttle bus G.Os "we are running as much service as we can with the operators we have available" . Except for going into the city I avoided the shuttle this weekend. I hate this Catch Bus To Canarsie G.O as I have the worst luck with the alternatives early evenings (the B17). If it wasn't an nice weather day today I would have just stayed home, just another instance of me wishing I had an car so I wouldn't have to rely on public transportation on weekends when the train isn't running.
  11. I don't see how they build an 125th Street station on the Empire Line. At 125th, the Amtrak ROW is cramped tightly between the highway and buildings, the BBQ restaurant might have to be torn down. Not to a fan of tearing stuff down to build an station that will likely have low ridership. Also I would imagine there would only be one platform, IIRC there's literally no space between the highway and the Amtrak tracks. Also can't see those Upper West Side residents co signing construction and disruption to their quiet residential neighborhood for the UWS stations. I'm pro Hudson Line penn access but not the extra stations, all of them seem like a nightmare to build given how the ROW is setup.
  12. ^^^ thanks. I typed R160 C train 2023 into the search bar but only videos from years ago showed up.
  13. Is their pics/video of the R160 today? Checked YouTube and oddly, no one had uploaded any video of this R160 train. These days anything remotely rare/unusual has a bunch of fanners uploading footage of said rare sighting as soon as it happens. I remember I saw an NG on an ENY route thinking no one caught this yet when two foamers was already there, damn lol.
  14. They store trains in the yard near Coney Island. No need to use 38th Street. Besides I don't think they can increase service much more than current levels because of merges with the , and lines.
  15. They used to layup trains at that yard in the mid 2000s, so at least some tracks are electrified. https://www.nycsubway.org/perl/show?32392
  16. I don't think they have scrapped all the remaining R32s yet, they probably want to get rid of all the 32s before they start scrapping R46s So far, the sets retired.. • The 36th Street shooting set • The set derailed by the homeless man at 14th/8th • The set derailed at 125th Street Far as I know these sets are still on NYCT property, no 46s have been sent to Ohio for scrapping yet.
  17. 5963 has no A/C, first time ever riding an Pikin R46 with A/C problems.
  18. This is a railfan forum, these are the type of things railfans like to discuss. Keep in mind that this is a hobby for most ppl here that they partake in for entertainment purposes. Some fans enjoy discussing the order cars get delivered.
  19. The Arrows have an MDBF of 10,000.. I think Morrsville Yard in Pennsylvania has an maintenance shop in addition to MMC. I like the Arrows but the harsh reality is they are unreliable in 2023.
  20. Just saw this on my news feed, NJT fan trip for celebrate the 40th anniversary of NJT.. https://www.trains.com/trn/news-reviews/news-wire/nj-transit-plans-excursion-heritage-equipment-display-to-celebrate-40th-anniversary/ Prices for a ticket are a bit steep, starting at 83 dollars... 83 dollars to ride in a Comet 5. however the higher price points will include vintage train cars https://www.urhs.org/40thanniversaryexpress Also locomotives with the old school paint schemes will be on display at Hoboken on October 1st.
  21. The River line will be running on an Sunday schedule until Wednesday. Not sure the reason why but it might be because they have an train shortage due to sets with A/C problems. https://www.cbsnews.com/philadelphia/news/nj-transit-river-line-air-conditioning-issues/
  22. AFAIK the only difference between SIR R211s and NYCT R211s is the cab signal equipment on the SIR 211s which from what I read, isn't installed yet. Not surprised SIR and NYCT 211s can run together in shop moves.
  23. I remember an MTA document linked on here a while back saying that Metro North used the funds for M3 replacements to order the replacements for the P32DM locomotives. Metro North probably sees replacing the P32s as the more pressing need, spare parts are scarce and those engines are the sole provider of Hudson line diesel service. M3s share serving the Hudson and Harlem lines with the M7s, if the Metro North M3s start to fall apart they could just limit them to rush hour only like NJT does with the NEC Arrows.
  24. Have you heard of Philly dudes referring to women as "Jawns" ? As a New Yorker that's the only Philly slang I know of lol.
  25. Many railfans expect the open gangway R211s to debut on one of the QBL express routes. Not to mention some TA employees thought the R211 pilot set would hit revenue service by an certain time only for it to debut in revenue service weeks earlier. Considering these factors I'm not surprised some posters jumped the gun a bit and expected revenue service with one of the open gangway sets.
