Wow. I liked the location of the old terminal cause it was near Reading Terminal Market.
I guess no space for Hound and Peter Pan at Amtrak 30th Street Station.
Was Greyhound booted out of its old location on short notice or something? It's odd that they would choose such an shitty replacement.

So the r211 was put in at 0644 to farrockaway this morning I really think the clock was reset
It's possible the R211 is still on the same run because most line crews still aren't qualified yet. Haven't seen anything posted about additional crews being trained on the R211s.

what there really should be is an announcement encouraging people not to conquest (i.e. stealing rollsigns, pulling emergency brakes etc.)
Consquestors are a very small, small portion of the subway ridership. Recording such announcements would be an waste.
99 percent of the subway riders don't even know what consquestors are. Most don't even know what railfans are let alone the subset of fans which vandalizes the trains

There will be somebody else to replace NovaBus. This isn’t the first time that NovaBus has exited the US Market. If you recalled in 2000 they built 2 Hybrid RTS buses 6360 & (6361) but never formally hit the streets because of NovaBus’ first exit.
Nobody replaced Neoplan and NABI. Nobody replaced Prevost..

Your post reminds me of the late 90s in Brooklyn when every NYCT bus was RTS's I was an 90s baby so RTSs was all I knew when it came to buses for local buses for a brief period.
Command Bus MCI classics were the only non RTS bus I saw until the C40s showed up. I still remember the first time I saw an Orion V (Green Lines) on the Q35...
What's crazy is I was bummed when the Orion Hybrids started to gradually shrink the RTS fleet lol

Wow, that leaves only New Flyer, Gillig and Protrerra for transit bus manufacturers.
I guess different variations of the Excelsior buses will eventually dominate the MTA fleet like the RTS did at one point, every depot could possibly have New Flyer equipment. Unless the TA orders Proterras.
First Prevost, now Nova!
This is very disappointing news..

Let's say option 2 is 211As and the T's "fail" their test... would the two open gangway sets be put in storage and rot in yards for many years like the R110s were?

Today I rode an S79 which took the UPPER level of the VZ Bridge. First time I been on an local bus that went on the upper level of the bridge.
Also three S79s were bunched up, never seen that before.

Why the pessimistic attitude with the r211's???
I'm pretty sure that it was an r46's that broke down.
The r46's have been dominating the A/C this weekend. I hardly saw r179's running on the A/C.
The MTA should not be using so many r46's during the weekends especially if there is a lot of track and CBTC work done during the weekends.
The r46's are breaking down like flies.
Maybe the R179 warranty expires after a certain amount of miles and the TA doesn't want the 179s to reach that milestone just yet.
CI did this years ago with the R160s, a bunch of R68/68As were used on the & lines on the weekends cause the R160s warranty was about to expire. Good times seeing the 68s dominate Broadway for a few weekends after tech train dominance for a while.

I’m planning to catch the first trip on the R211A out of 207th Street tomorrow. Does anyone have a rough schedule or timetable for the R211A?
207th is closed this weekend due to a G.O, is starting/ending at 168th.

Some middle schools have 6, 7, and part of 8th grade out because 8th grade regents today and tomorrow, so I doubt a lot of those kids are gonna be skipping
They have regents in 8th grade now?! When I was in school regents didn't start until freshmen year of High School (9th grade).

And they had to pick a Thursday in the middle of the day?
Who’s going to fan those? Retirees? lol
R42 final run was in the middle of an weekday on a cold February day and was very crowded. I'm pretty sure a lot of teenage railfans cut school to ride it and will do so tomorrow.
Disclaimer: I don't agree with younger railfans cutting school.

Have you noticed that Ulmer Park is running more standards on the B1? It is possible that the XD60s at UP are suffering at this point. UP refused overhaul on the 2012-13 XD60s when they got theirs for the B1. Surprisingly, both Grand and Stengel got their 2012-13 XD60s when there were overhauled at Zerega.
In one of these sticky threads a poster who went to Zerega noted that a lot of 4700s were there getting upgrades. Maybe that's the reason more 40 Footers are showing up on the B1.

The BMT Standards will be running in passenger service between Kings Highway and 18th Ave on the line from 11:30AM to 2PM tomorrow. Most likely going back and forth on the express track.
It's free, only gotta pay the 2.75 subway fare to enter the system.

The SI R211 doesn't have the WABCO AA2 horns like the R44s do
Was hoping they kept the same horns like PATH did with the PA5.

I'd bet my last dollar that the R268 will look exactly like the R211s do.
Throughout the subways history they kept the same design for the several car classes. Most of those SMEE fleets in both divisions from the 1960s look exactly the same. R16 though R38 have the same general look.

I wonder if CP has shitty management or something and that's why the B/Os there are they way they are. Maybe CP is a miserable depot to work out of?
No idea if it's true or not but I heard Gun Hill is a great Depot to work out of even though their Artics are beat to a plup and is rumored to have bad maintenance. Looks like an miserable Depot to work out of from the outsider but apparently that's not the case. Just an example that things aren't always clear to someone on the outside of an situation.
IDK I'm just shooting the shit about this current discussion in this thread lol

Speaking of B/O f**Kerry, last week on an SI express bus the driver was promoting a rider's block party over the bus PA system

Now that the hype has died down the reduced seating is really disappointing. I hope the & keep their R179s after the R211 order is complete so you still have an chance of getting a train with decent seating capacity.
I have a feeling that N/B at Broadway Junction every N/B will be SRO off peak leaving that stop while currently its usually only the trains that came from Far Rock that are crowded.
I worry how reduced the seating will be in the R262 considering that they will be smaller IRT cars.

Why? Are operators uncomfortable or do people complain that it takes up space?
The company that made the flip up seats went out of business, no spare seats to replace broken ones so they are removed.

That crazy they don't have automated announcements for SIR yet automated announcements to Poughkeepsie exist... and the MN shorelines aren't capable of having automated announcements.
I would imagine Viola Mitchell will record the SIR announcements, would be an nice change of pace from the ppl who do the stop by stop announcements in NYCT

Does anyone have the Super Exp schedule? Can't seem to find it..
I think the schedule for the sup exp is made up on the fly at Mets Willis point by an TSS after weekend home Mets games, hence their being no online schedule.
It's slimar to the Yankee Special trains.
Wanna ride an sup exp your best bet is to wait at Willis Point after a weekend Mets home game to ride one, that's when they usually run them.

NICE got subway bullets & rail insignia's on their signage now?
This morning, I saw an n24 signed up as "Jamaica ", and coming home, I saw an n22 signed up as "Hicksville ( )" <------ with a little train icon next to the 'e' in Hicksville...
Otherwise, I must've been hallucinating on both fronts & will gladly turn my license in.
I noticed that today as well.

I'm on an NICE Bus Gillig with no A/C, HVAC is on but isn't pumping out any air.
Driver has those little fans on in the front of the bus lol. First time I seen a NICE B/O use those fans
NICE must know their maintenance are trash hence spec'ing their buses with fans in the 21st century.

Rode the R179 on the today and the AC was pure ass, I know 2 years ago I rode one and the AC was ass.
It wasn't cold today, it was damn near Hoodie weather so IDK why you was expecting good A/C on a 70 degree day.
No car class I rode today was pumping out cold air, no need to as it wasn't hot outside.

IDK how ppl commute S/B on the Manhattan Bridge routes into Brooklyn regularly, it's so slow. After all these years it's crazy the TA hasn't come up with a more modern way for trains to ID themselves at the tower.
Riding from Canal/Grand to Atlantic Ave is a miserable experience, rode an from Canal to Atlantic today and it felt like it took an half hour just to travel between those two stops.
When I lived in Flatbush I always hated the S/B run on the from the city into Brooklyn cause of DeKalb Junction. N/B feels much quicker.
