  1. Thought about fanning the Danbury Branch one of the next two days, then I saw that it runs on 3 hour headways when it's on an Sunday schedule, nvm lol.
  2. Did the runtime for the 139 between PABT and Lakewood increase? IIRC when I rode it a few years ago it took an hour and a half to travel between those two points, looked up the times for tomorrow and it takes an hour and 50 minutes to travel between those two points, an increase of 20 minutes. Wanted to fan the N/B 319 (only rode it once S/B) but I'm trying to hold off until after Memorial Day to avoid getting stuck in Holiday weekend traffic. I've gotten burned before on that approach to the Lincoln Tunnel in Union City, traveling on the GSP and 495 helix on a afternoon on a holiday weekend is too much of an gamble.
  3. Those two old gens are probably still around cause they are good performers, might have been better performers than the NGs that have already been retired from LGA.
  4. There's an R68/68A mix on the today, 2857 and it's set hooked up to 5001 and its set. There's no noticeable difference in ride quality compared to solid R68 consists. The 2857 set has LED lights.
  5. There's only 13 sets of R179s assigned to the out of like 40+ trains and it's highly unlikely that all 13 sets are in service at the same time. There's far more R46s assigned to Pikin compared to R179s. 179s were always an minority in the line fleet.
  6. Metro North repainted a Genny in FL9 colors! https://railfan.com/metro-north-releases-first-heritage-unit/
  7. Maybe the one set was towing the other. There was an mixed R142/R179 consist being shuffled around 207th street yard a couple days ago.
  8. ^^^ Damn, IIRC the N33 only uses one bus so that route basically had no service after that bus got into a accident. Yikes at the ppl who rely on that route as they likely had no notice that this accident happened.
  9. For the first time in a few years I rode an LIRR M3 today. I just waited for one to show up at Penn Station during the PM Rush It was an great ride as always, nice throwback to how commuters commuted from the 60s though 90s before the M7s took over the LIRR MU fleet. And yes I know the M3s debuted in the 80s but from a passenger perspective there was little to no difference between the old M1 cars and M3s. At one point this evening there was three M3 sets at Jamaica at the same time, one on a Brentwood bound train, one on a Babylon Branch train and another on the Brooklyn shuttle. Loving the diversity on LIRR right now.
  10. I can see why they didn't put "Tottenville Express" or "St George Express" in the sign.... the sign above the storm door already shows that information so the route bullet sign had to show something lol
  11. Sutter Ave on the is currently being bypassed due to an police investigation, however nobody told the ppl waiting on the Manhattan bound platform. So they are standing there confused as to why all the trains are bypassing the station.
  12. City Ticket will finally be expanded to Far Rockaway this summer https://nyc.streetsblog.org/2023/05/05/mta-will-extend-5-city-ticket-to-far-rockaway-lirr-riders-this-summer/
  13. SI Live article on the Staten Island R211s, revenue service is expected by the end of the year according to the article. For those who are wondering, yes the SI R211s will have to do an 30 day test as well. https://www.silive.com/news/2023/05/first-new-staten-island-railway-cars-arrive-in-nyc-heres-what-riders-can-expect.html?outputType=amp
  14. The LED will most likely display "Totteneville Local" and "Tottenville Express" Like the R44's currently do. SIR colors are blue for local and orange for express.
  15. The LIRR M3s are in bad shape and break down a lot, doubt MN would want them or even need them. Metro North would probably take extra dual modes before extra MUs. I remember reading a few years ago spare parts are getting scarce since GE stopped making parts for the P32, also low spare factor. If this is factual or rumor, I don't know. The P32 was a good engine in its heyday unlike the LIRR diesels which were always kind of meh, but the P32s are supposedly starting to struggle from what I read a couple years back.
  16. Refitting the front end of the R160s is a waste of money. Digital ads are probably the only R211 feature you'll see in the older NTT which has already been done in some of the cars. Multiple ads produces additional revenue for the MTA so there's an benefit in doing that.
  17. I wonder if these SI R211s will have a different propulsion system. For those if you who don't know, NYCT R44s had Westinghouse propulsion while the SI R44s have GE propulsion. The person who uploaded that video said that the SI R211s have slightly different trucks, I wonder why that is.
  18. Cause it will test on NYCT trackage first before going to SIR. These cars were fitted to be able to go BIE via NYCT trip cocks so they can run on NYCT trackage.
  19. Every order going back to the R44s has had teething issues, I'm not surpised these cars are having problems. They will eventually be sorted out and the R211 fleet will be fine. Lol at the fanners getting impatient that the Staten Island R211s hasn't come yet. Yall do realize that most likely the R211S will have to go though months of testing as well? Even if the R211S is delivered tomorrow, odds are you won't be able to ride it anytime soon
  20. Today the MTA had some reps at Rockaway Parkway with signs about the redesign, they was there to answer questions about the redesign.
  21. Homeless ppl on the train wouldn't cause the train to fail the 30 day test.
  22. The B6 between Flatbush Ave and New Lots is just as busy. Plus a lot of school kids from schools along the Brighton Line ride the B6 from Ave J to Canarsie, etc. I used go to PS 152 across the street from Midwood and after school those Rockaway Parkway and Limited buses would always be SRO. IDK if this still happens but the B6 used to get hammered at Nostrand & Glenwood with crowds.
  23. The pic below is the average Danbury & Waterbury branch train...
  24. I did not know you had to scan the fare payment on the app on NJT buses. I always just show the B/O my phone, they never say to scan anywhere. After I do this they do something to the farebox as I'm boarding.
