  1. It's really not that scary when you see that everything on the test is taught to you. Everything. As long as you pay attention, take notes, and study, you'll do fine. Now if we were going to be T/Os, that's a different story. You have to ace the signals test as a t/o. We're good.
  2. Well the told us for c/r today that there's a june and July class so far. 3pm-11pm. They didn't tell us the number of people in each
  3. I was done by 1145am! It pays to get there before 7am. Never got out before noon before!
  4. What about the PE application? I honestly forgot. Already filled one out and gave it in last year for my first PE. Plus, all I got was the email to come in Friday.
  5. It's 200 total. But I seriously doubt each class is going to be 100. They usually do 30-60.
  6. Dont be so sure. They didn't get "stuck" in the rockaways before the construction started. If they didn't want those sets out there, they would have layed them up before the GO. Those sets are being treated like any other set. It was decided to assign those sets to the Rockaway shuttle.
  7. It is indeed running the Rockaway shuttle this weekend. I saw the same set a few mins later at Beach 44th St rock park bound.
  8. Thats something that can't really be answered. Given that they need 200 conductors, it's more than likely yet, if they fill up one class before then, and not have another scheduled, they may not. This is Transit. Nothing is really in a set time frame with them. It's one of those questions asked by many (how long..? When..? Will they..?) That no one can really definitely answer. When people. Were told "take the test and go about your life untill you're called" they weren't kidding. Same thing applies when you get the PE call. I had my first PE for this test a year ago. Transit can be like the military: "Hurry up and wait"
  9. Correct. This PE (pre employment) is just like the last one. You'll end the day at the lab taking your drug test again. Medical and Final Processing is both on the same day you get called in for that. That's when you bring in your "homework". You'll be taking your medical exam then afterward get called into an office where they'll go thru your application (the "homework"). Now, if they don't call you in for medical/final processing within 90 days of your drug test, you get call in for pre employment (the drug test) again.
  10. You bring that in when you are called in for Medical/Final Processing
  11. They won't really do that till after your hired. And all they do is verify that you worked there.
  12. I just received an email. We are in the same range (also155*). My second as well!
  13. 3010-3019 is running from JFK to Mott Ave this weekend.
  14. the Delta isn't the only one in the Bronx. Some Bravo jobs that start during the rush hours, as well as baseball/football specials. But mostly Bravo jobs.
  15. They just might thought. Four primary reasons. 1) car shuffles. We all know I certain class of cars won't really be exclusive to a single line for too long. Yeah there's been some exceptions, butnwith CBTC coming, they'll need all the compatible Cars they can get. With that being said the other three reasons come into play: 2) the M although the Jamaica El won't see cbtc anytime within ten years, both Sixth Ave and QBL will. 3) the L. Already has cbtc. And well, car shuffles. 4)we don't know for a fact if and when the lengthening of C trains will happen, nor if it will be every set, but both Fulton and 8Th Ave will be getting cbtc. And although current projections of what lines get them when may factor in that 211's will be running, flexibility will be needed as a just in case.
  16. When a signal at the front of the station, the first one you pass when leaving a station, is red. That what leaving signal at red means. When your doors are open in a station, and the T/O buzzes you once, that means leave the doors open and then when they give you two buzzes, close them. No, it's not at every station. Only when the T/O needs you to keep the doors open at a station. BTW, all of this, and more, is taught to you in school car. They really do go thru everything with you.
  17. From what I understand, they rearrainged that consist so now they are making sure it functions properly in that arraingment I'm going to assume.
  18. I've seen the letter from a member of the MTA Board to NYCT from about two months back or so. Yes, there is a hiring freeze but don't get sad everyone. The freeze doesn't include safety sensitive positions. Train Crews are safety sensitive. And as to the sparatic classes in the last year, I remember reading somewhere that they are short on instructors. If someone can correct me on the last part please do. But as far as the hiring freeze, Schecter is correct. I've seen the actual letter stating this.
  19. I would be a c/r first. This way, if you realize during the first year of being a T/o that it's not for you, or if you fail T/O school car, you go back to being a c/r. If you go straight to t/o, and fail school car, you're done.
  20. New Car Engineering designs the cars. The manufacturers have their signature parts and ways of putting everything together that those of us can see on the finished product. To call it a "virgin design" and say that it was designed from the ground up by them is a misconception. Take it from someone who has been in New Car Engineering. Transit does the design, the manufacturers who win the bids take it from there.
