  1. If you don't know him personally, you wouldn't understand. He has worked everything, from SBK to all the Museum cars and he knows his stuff. He's a good friend of mine and even though he has been retired for some time now, he is better then any T/O school car could ever hope to create.
  2. It's a fan trip, they used to do them almost every weekend in the 70's with whatever equipment they could get their hands on.
  3. The only fast food that will exit like clock work is the sausage, egg, and cheese McGriddle. After a half hour, it's leaving no matter what. Other then that I can eat anything with out a problem (for me, others may want to grab escape hoods).
  4. Riding the trains is fine, but working on them is 1000Xs better so it makes no difference to me.
  5. What, New Yorkers can't hate the skanees?
  6. Drop the rust bucket Redbird and you'd have some really good stuff.
  7. That is one of the BEST arguments I have ever heard, really original. How do you know that your fare goes to him, maybe it goes to the C/R or to buy rail spikes, signal cables, or track grease?
  8. SEPTA is not NYCT, different systems with different rules.
  9. Its an illegal move, the only time you ever back a train up is when your doing a cut and only 2 feet at the most.
  10. I've been playing with trains since I could walk only now i get to play with real ones instead of models. When I was about 4 or 5, my father built me an HO lay out in my room and I was always reading or looking up things about trains. Then I got into subways, I thought taking the to Jay St and riding the into the city on R32/38s with my father was the coolest thing in the world. For a long time if I ever went "railfanning", I would go by myself and I would ovbserve everything I saw about the operation of the system. My first "fantrip" was back in 2002 when the ERA chartered a train of Sliverfoxes to ride around the B Div. for a whole day. After that I didn't go on another trip till 2008 where I rode the Holiday train. After doing that and meeting the right people, I not only go on most of the trips but I have become very active in the preservation, restoration, and operation of rapid transit equipment.
  11. The door enablers only work while the reverser is thrown (forward or reverse). When it is centered, you don't need to be enabled to open up. Also, you do not need to be in full service, most T/Os put R160s in full service so that they can use their right hand to hit the button. With the door enablers, you press once, you don't need to hold it. The T/O should have just given the C/R 1 long buzz to not open up until they could see how bad they were out of the station.
  12. Even one door out is one door too many, if a TSS or another RTO manager saw a train open up or back up, the crew would be in ALOT of trouble. It's just not worth the risk.
  13. ABSOLUTELY NOT! You NEVER back up a train on the main line no matter what. What should have happened was that the C/R upon seeing that the train was not stopped at the marker, he/she should have asked the T/O if the train was at the proper marker. If the T/O said no, then RCC should have been notified, opened the emergency brake valve, open up the rear section ONLY. RCC may have the T/O and C/R key people off the cars in the front section that are still in the station.
  14. Why is the pizza that's missing a slice chasing a load?
  15. Hell, ATO has been offline for a week or so now. It truly is a massive waste of money, but those in charge turn a blind eye its many problems and they think it's the best thing since sliced bread.
  16. If your going to correct someone, have some grasp of the English language your self.
  17. There;s one on the corner of Utica and Eastern Pkwy....
  18. Does he operate very fast and gets held at stations? If so, I know exactly who your talking about.
  19. God damn that "thing" is ugly. I wouldn't even wish that on my worst ememy.
