  1. yeah i forgot about that, They'll figure out something
  2. it's still possible since they are still wayside signals on the line and it's happening on a Saturday. The 3rd of November would mark 20 years since the redbirds retired. Also The express tracks are available so they can run the train back and forth between 33rd and willets point without disrupting service.
  3. It'll probably a 800 car order. You need 755 60 foot R268s to replace the entire R68 fleet, They'll probably add an additional 45 cars for fleet expansion totaling up to 800 cars. Makes me think the Base would be at least 400 cars with the option order being 400 cars.
  4. It would be the same design with more improvements from the R211 order, It'll probably be all open gangway as well. As for the R262s. If it were up to me, I would have given it to Alstom since they own the bombardier R142 design and at the same time they could also rebuild the r142s to R262 specs minus the open gangway. This would make the most sense besides just converting the cars to CBTC. But If Kawasaki gets it then they can rebuild the remaining R142A's to R262 specs minus the open gangway along with the brand new R262s.
  5. it wouldn't surprise me if they use micro LEDs for these cars since by then they should be much cheaper. Micro LEDs would make the led signs look like what you would see on a regular LCD screed with an LED backlight. But it doesn't surprise me that they might do both the R262/R268 orders at the same time.
  6. That's always the case with the techs, The HVAC also would need tweaks. The R160s were like that too and i rode an R179 last week with mediocre AC
  7. The contractor screwed up so they have to start all over
  8. Astoria CBTC as well as Lexington CBTC has been pushed back in favor of 6th ave and Crosstown CBTC due to those 2 lines having the oldest signals in the system. This is why the R211s will be on 90% of the IND lines, Basically all IND lines have to have tech trains within the next 5-6 years.
  9. nah it was ass, I rode an R160 on the and and the A/C was fine and worked. The r179 felt muggy as hell.
  10. Rode the R179 on the today and the AC was pure ass, I know 2 years ago I rode one and the AC was ass.
  11. But NYC can house these illegals in hotels when they could use those resources to house the homeless and mentally ill. I'm not liking how the blue cities are pretty much giving the middle finger at people who been homeless or on waiting lists for housing get pushed aside. This is because no one wants to enforce the law. The DA thinks fare beating is a non issue.
  12. Not really, But it usually runs between 6am and 9:30pm
  13. Nah fam, Most info is public but most people in RTO act like it's not public info when MTA puts it in a PDF. You Guys catch a titty attack when we share our opinions and when y'all are proven wrong, y'all go completely apeshit over non sense. The reason why the retards do all of the f**kery you posted above because of shitty politicians (DeBlassio, Coumo and etc.) who became to lax on the law. This is why vandalism went up. lets not forget that a good chunk of the vandalism was also done by former employees. You can't get mad at railfans for knowing shit when people in your own backyard has been doing dumb shit as well. You also Have Employees selling confidential info on discord (the people are still employed btw) Maybe if Our city and state government stop being such clowns and actually punish the idiots doing this, all of the above wouldn't be an issue. Also needs to stop play favorites when certain employees do f**k shit. Because if i was employed with them and done all of the above, they would have fired my black ass no questions asked.
  14. I will say this, The fare hike doesn't affect me but i find it very dumb they would mention this when they are pushing for congestion pricing. $23 to go south of 60th st, The Anti-Congestion pricing people will have a field day over this. It's very bad optics to say you want to raise the fare granted it's only $0.15 but it makes the look bad and dumb at the same time. The Congestion pricing plan was supposed to fix 90% of the issues when it comes to additional funding. If anything they should have waited until AFTER Congestion pricing started to raise the fares.
  15. yes, it went back in service yesterday
  16. Can't really do that unless they order C cars to add into the 4 car consists. It wouldn't surprise me if they did this with the R143s similar to the R142A to R188 conversion. But I doubt it since it would be a waste of money and they can just use the extra 8 car R179s for an extension south of broad st.
  17. You can't keep on adding extra trains, It's proven that don't work. We are going to have a huge surplus of 8 car trains once the loses it's 8 car trains. Putting them on the would only create another headache hence why i said its better off being 10 cars. They mind as well extend the for rush hours or Create a shuttle like the old . Once the CBTC east GO is done, They shouldn't any excuses. The needs to return to queens on weekends and nights. You can add all the additional service in the world and it'll still be terrible.
  18. I think the in the future will be 10 cars just for flexibility since it can share the fleet with Jamaica Yard. Having it 8 cars would cause Jamaica to have an Oddball fleet. If Congestion pricing happens within a year or two, I think the would be extended via 4th ave to 9th ave or Bay ridge (I think Bay ridge would be the best bet) It makes more sense to do that since we will have a surplus of 8 car trains and the Staten Island residents who use the S79 SBS, S53 and etc. They can also Make a shuttle route That could run from Canal St (abandoned side) to Bay Ridge 95th st as well if a extension is too much. Also the need to return to queens on weekends and nights to help the on weekends.
  19. Yeah, ENY uses the R160s more so i can see why. Haven't been on the in awhile but the last time i was on it the R160s were being used on it more than the R179s.
  20. That's mainly because they get tagged a lot. So they get taken OOS.
  21. This is what they did with the R32's between Fall of 2020 and Fall of 2021, They decided to retire the R32 fleet once the first set of R211s touched property and it bit them in the ass when the R211s started having multiple teething problems during testing (which is normal hence the testing) thus delaying the 30 day test until spring 2023. So they had to do full service with barely any spares and having ABD's up the ass on the / not only because of crew shortages but also equipment shortages. The R46s were decent on the until after 2021 when they started to take a hit. Now if anything were to happen, They wouldn't bring the R32s back. It would be too costly to retrain new hires and re-inspect them. It was have to be a huge emergency if that were the case. Right now can't afford to retire anything until they have enough cars. R211s issues will eventually be solved and we can move on from this.
  22. It's going to be a good while for the R46s to go FHA just gave NY the green light for congestion pricing, Now all they have to do is vote on it and could start as early as next year. It wouldn't make sense to scrap anything that's currently in service until there's enough R211s where the is full length and the has more than enough cars to have longer trains. Y'all gotta stop with this "The R46s need to go right now bullshit" The caved and got rid of the R32s (Pandemic, crew shortages and lower ridership played a part besides complaints) I don't think it'll be a great idea to even retire any R46s. The issue with the R46s is just the lack of spares hence why their reliability took a hit. R46s will eventually retire as more R211s are delivered overtime. Also Since congestion pricing would likely pass, I would expect Option II to be approved.
  23. I remember when Jamaica had an 8300 from QV for a very short time back in 2000 or 2001. Then in 2004 they got the 8200s from Manhattan for 2 years before they went to baisley. Also these fans don't realize that Jamaica depot is the oldest depot in the system and at that time they didn't want to give them new Orion VII old gens. I still think they got the next gens mainly because the southeast queens residents started to complain ( i can understand why since before the next gens, Jamaica was 100% high floor) Otherwise they would have probably waited for the 2011 90 bus order. The RTS were supposed to stay for an additional year or two, They wanted the 6300s-6600s out first due to their mdbf compared to the RTS and they just finished rehabbing a good chunk of the 1998-1999 RTS. Also The shutdown was also another reason hence why we got that large XD40 and LFS order in 2018.
  24. They can't really retire anything, They claim this could start as early as April of next year which would suck since they still don't have enough crew. This would cause to keep the R46s longer since they would still need them for the (until option order I cars could retire them or push them out). I can see the being extended since we are going to have a surplus of 8 car units rather than the going 8 cars. The is better off full length to allow for flexibility and not allowing Jamaica or CI (if the goes back to CI) to have an oddball fleet. This would also be the driving force to get option order 2 approved as well.
