  1. The move would be to serve the Brookhaven Industral Center. (Which is a spot I believe that just lost bus service, and had only gotten service because supposedly workers there needed it. I'm not sure if anyone used it to/from there) Also probably because of the develment of Busnessis and Apartments they are building at the site of the former Suffolk Meadows AKA Parr Meadows on William Floyd Parkway adjasant to the LIE. Here is an article about it from earlier this year http://www.newsday.com/long-island/suffolk/yaphank-lirr-station-should-be-relocated-farther-east-1.12073920. There is no mention of the Parr Meadows project as being a reason however.

  3. So you would like the S66 to operate how it did before at least the mid to late 90's? The Town would like the Yaphank RR Station moved.
  4. I don't think the S94 was a loop. It looks like the S94 went from LIU Southampton to either the Montauk Railway Station or Montauk Village. (Its hard to tell because they placed the S94 square in Montauk right in the middle of the 10C route. (The 10C may have been a loop from the Villiage to the Montauk Light House) Based on how the S94 isn't indicated as stopping at the East Hampton Railroad Station, I would assume that it didn't stop. However when checking to see if the 74 was listed as a transfer for Coram Plaza, I noticed that it wasn't, even though it was said that the 74 stopped at Coarm Plaza. So it's possible that it stopped there an wasn't shown as it did because of an oversight.
  5. The S94 went to LIU-Southampton in 1993. For some reason whoever made up the map placed the 94's square (to signify it's destination) on the black line meant to show where the shore and not next to the 10A Square. (Like what is done in other places were two or routes end in the same location) Did the S94 serve Southampton Hospital?
  6. Ah, the '93 map just says Southampton, nothing more.
  7. Thanks. I used the same code as I did for BusTalk, and I wasn't aware it didn't work until I looked at TransitMan's post. Like I said before the '93 map didn't mark the S94 after Wainscott, so I couldn't follow it to were it ended in Southampton, also I wasn't sure exactly were it ended in Montauk.
  8. I've seen it on the 1993 map, the link was supposed to show what could be made out on the '93 map (guess the link did't work). It just didn't show where it went exactly in Southampton.
  9. I circled part of what is listed as the S94 on the 1993 System map. I followed what is marked to Wainscott because it was the last point that was clearly marked. Two things of Note. The S94 isn't shown as a transfer route at the East Hampton Railroad Station, and they don't clearly defined on the map where the S94 is suppose to end. <a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/35287221@N03/30128529465/in/dateposted-friend/"title="s94"><img src="https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5780/30128529465_2773aed21d_k.jpg" width="2048" height="571" alt="s94"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script> You can make out 10C over by the Montauk Lighthouse area.
  10. Thats the S94 currently. The 1993 Suffolk County Transit system wide map lists the S94 as going between Southampton and Montauk. As a summer only route. The Montauk Village to Montauk Point route was the 10C back then. The 10C was a summer only route then as well.
  11. I don't know for sure, but I think it could have been true. I remember reading or seeing somewhere were the 10C and S94 use to be diffrent than they are now. I can't say for sure but the S94 use to be longer an year round, with the Montauk Point being summer only and the 10C was a summer only route.
  12. After I wrote 2295 I was like 'wait didn't I see one numbered 2297?' but I wasn't 100% sure so I went went with 2295 because I was sure of that.

  14. I could be wrong, but from what I can tell from from the few photos I've seen here and I think though NICE's Facebook (or somewhere else) I believe they have four or five. I believe the numbering runs from 2291-2295.
  15. Depending on the price of a Low Floor back then Vs. the Phantom model, if they went with Low Floor Gilligs then Suffolk couldn't have cannibalized parts from the early 90's Phantoms they were replacing in 2005. (Which it's possible they did since they seemed cannibalized parts from the 1996 Phantoms they retired in 2010) Residents don't care about SCT because they all have cars, so they probably feel that If they can afford a car why should they car about public transportation.
  16. Normally before the extension to Montauk Hwy and the addition of a second bus, the S20 is assigned an 35ft bus. Except for the 4 40ft Gillig BRT's, and the 9 40ft Orion VII's (All the 40ft except for the 1001-1002 were suppose to be for the S1 only; 1001-1002 were only for the S33); EBT's fleet is mostly 35 Ft Phantoms and Orion VII's.
  17. Heard once that one of the 40ft buses was assigned to the S20. However I'm not sure if it was because of ridership or just however EBT assigns buses
  18. From what I can recall hearing the reason for the deviation was to give those who needed the airport better way to get there from/to Smith Haven Mall (and probably Ronkonkoma Railroad, though for some reason Smith Haven Mall is the only one that sticks out) As far why the S57 over S59 that I do not know. Maybe the answer has something to do with when the stop was added. When was MacAurthur added as a stop?
  19. That I don't know. The stop at King Kullen was added a few years ago after the county finally decided to move the terminal away from the long abandoned KMart, and the exact stop wasn't said. I always thought it was near the entrance/exit of King Kullen like the 6B stop at the soon to be closed King Kullen at Independence Plaza in Selden. The KMART building was finally torn down within the past year, or at least supposed said so, after years of just sitting there falling into disrepair and squatters breaking in and nearly burning it down trying to stay warn during the winter.
  20. I don't think the S71 of S90 carried that much per run to drastically effect the S66 as you believe. I mean if the total number of people effected on all the routes listed is 195 it kinda shows that all the routes don't carry well. Can't keep a route that you can't afford. The Proposed BRT route is the only one of three proposed by County Executive Bellone that he is still actively pursuing. It's suppose to make a trip going from South Shore to North Shore. This route is suppose to go from Patchouge to SCCC-SELDEN then SUNY Stony Brook via Nicholls Road. He's spent thousands if not possibly a million studying the possibility. The S76 was spare probably because thete was no savings in cutting it and it's purpose is purely in giving riders along the Port Jefferson Plaza and East Setauket riders of the S60 a 30 minute wait for a bus. Unlike the other routes whose purpose is to bring people from terminus to another or some where along the route.
  21. The S66 isn't going to get more crowded. Barely anyone rides the 7D/E. Half the times I've seen the 7D it had nobody on it. It said how they came up with what routes to cut in the article, they based it on how much could be saved. Obviously the S71 wasn't bring in enough money to cover the operation. Not to mention if the Executive's BRT route is ever created the S71 would be obsolete since the BRT route would serve SCCC-SELDEN and SUNY Stony Brook. It's 10 routes when you count the 7D and E and the 10 D and E as the individual routes that they are but it was written out its eight routes. Don't know who wrote it out the way they did.

  24. Suffolk Transit first got Automated announcements in 1999 when they ordered the 1999 Orion V's. By 2012 all bus orders since 1999 were ordered with Automated Announcements. Suffolk added the automated announcements to the 1996 and 1997 Gilligs before they were retired though I'm not sure exactly when they had done that though I know it was before 2010.
  25. Most likely if there is some form of ridership from Leisure Village then they will probably pare down the 5A to serve from there to either Middle Island or probably Rocky Point Plaza assuming on which way the ridership heads and on a cost conscience scheduling and probably using a Para Transit bus. A deviation of the S58 or S62 probably wouldn't happen because like you said it would add run time to the routes and my guess is that ridership from Leisure Village probably isn't enough to warrant such. If the 5A is cut I could see the S62 going back to the way it use to operate, before the 5A extension to Port Jefferson in 2003, where it operates via North Country Road (The way the 5A goes) and every other run it goes up South Columbia to NYS 25A. Did you know back in the early 90's the S62 use to run from NYS 25A to NYS 347 to North Columbia across NYS 25A to South Columbia on runs that came from Riverhead. It could only go that way from Riverhead because there was/is no access to Eastbound 347 from North Columbia/Williams Street.
