It's not a point about $$, it's a point about mismanagement. If yk you need to fix something, it needs to be planned in advance.

See that bold part? That's exactly why they are in the predicament they are in. Ever since the Cuomo era, they been playing politics to get what they want. They acting more like a party that wants look good in order to run for reelection instead of an actual transit agency, and especially as of lately it's getting obvious to the public eye.

It might not be their fault, but they far from anything not corrupt.

    Almost true.

It was ever since Governor Paterson cut regular state funding for the MTA in 2009(which led to the big 2010 service cuts), along with some of the worst top heads to ever be appointed(Jay Walder, Patrick Foye being the two notorious ones).

So in essence, it's basically the Paterson administration that caused a lot of what's been going on now with the fare hikes and all of that shit.

But of course, the big wigs are also paying themselves a hefty amount as well, and the entire agency, and the board, are as corrupt as they come.

I'd also like to mention, one of the recent Congestion Pricing lawsuits sparked a full blown audit of the MTA's finances. One of the judges basically said that if they're budget is running rampant now, along with the fact that they are 3 million dollars over budget, it would be worse when Congestion Pricing begins.

  2. Seems like the microtransit ideas from the redesign will be going through, as it's been signed off and awaiting FTA approval. This is a pretty big indication that the redesign will be happening as is.

    (the cost is per million)

NJT screwed up the entire tracking system when they redid it a few months ago. It’s now impossible to tell where anything is unless you use my bus, and even that is difficult to use because the GUI looks like it’s from 2004.

It's not exactly their fault. The maintainer of the philly tracker site has to update their stuff as well, which they haven't.

Welp NJT axed the changing of the fare system and the scanners in the buses. Due to increased dwell times. Ultimately the system will be turned off and the scanners will be useless.

The dwell times was created because that scanner required the red dot to be perfectly on the QR.

For this system to have worked, paper tickets and passes had to be discontinued and replaced with a fare card that could hold your mpass and tickets and you tap without waiting on the red dot 🔴. NJT also refused to change the fare register. Septa has the same readers for use with their fare card and tap pay system. Also the addition of having the option to add your pass to your Apple or Android wallet.

There is an internal memo in all garages about the system being suspended. The front office of NJT needs to be put out of service and they need to clean how with ones who want change. We should not be carrying cash in 2024.

    NJT fails again.

That, and people have no clue how to use it properly.

I've scanned my card on it a few times and it sometimes doesnt even register, the op let me on anyway. The scanner also got one of my cards blacklisted.

I get what your saying 100 percent and i agree...Fairview back in the day was just artics and 40fts suburbans with a few MCIs...Fairview lines isnt the only lines used by Mcis that suffers from the problems u mentioned above tho...NJT maybe should have ordered more artics rather Mcis.....So how do you fix this problem...Me personally trade some Mcis to meadowlands for some of their artics and 40fts...Otherwise they gonna stay at fairview cause what other garage can take them

They aren't, but Fairview's routes are the most prominent with that issue. Oradell's routes are definitely similar to Fairview's in terms of design, but the type of usage between both garages is different, same for Market Street.

The 200 Artic bus order is supposedly going to allow the 150s to become fully artic. When that, or Ridgefield Park happens remains to be seen.

    -EDIT-

Mixed up the numbers between the artic order and the 40ft order.

Actually, they were fully planning on using those new 500's on the 4C's because they thought the riding public wouldn't care. That was quickly changed the two times a 500 ran on the 4C and the county got over 100 complaints.

I also wouldn't count on the 4C going away just yet, the last three times they tried to get rid of it, the public fought to keep it.

Hence why I said "they couldn't retire them to begin with". The only ones they retired are the ones with blown motors and other maintenance issues not worth to fix.

And in this situation with the 4C, they don't really have much of a choice. Liberty Lines legally owns the BxM4C, not the county. The only way it would survive is if the county actually pays Liberty Lines for the route, which they likely won't do. Even the county looks at the BxM4C as a financial waste.

If anyone is wondering why the newer XDE40s didn't ran on the BxM4C recently, is because of complaints from passengers. Because the buses uses hard seats, Bee-Line decided to keep the Orion Suburbans until the redesign goes into effect.

They couldn't retire them to begin with.

Also, those could be going before the redesign is even implemented depending on what company wins the operations contract for Bee-Line. If Liberty Lines gets the boot(since they actually own the BxM4C route), it's a pretty fair assumption that those Orions will be going away very quickly if that's the case, since the BxM4C would no longer exist.

It doesn’t make any sense that Fairview is sending all the 06 D4500CLs to Wayne when they are already receiving D4500CTs from various private bus operators.

It makes a lot of sense...Wayne is getting more buses to retire the 9000s and 7100s, this would just speed up the process. Also lessens the maintenance load at Fairview.

The main arguement for what i saw is that Fairview dont need MCI...all i did was beg the differ..Its gotta be some what a benifit if they choose to send them there.....I cant speak for increase in ridership for the lines..I also touched on the fact that they also got 45 fts buses to train drivers who where used to 40 fts and nabis and the fact that fairview eventually gonna be a merge garage which also gonna require them...Thats the reason those 40  fts they do got is being moved...Me personally all fairview lines can have them....i also heard that market st drivers are starting to train for 45 fts from wayne

It's not so much the fact that they don't need the MCIs, but if they had routes that would allow them to use the MCIs more properly, then yeah, they could use them.

Having been on their routes with these new 45fters, from a logistics standpoint, it's terrible. There's way too much stop-and-go happening on those fairview routes(especially the locals) for those MCIs to be used reliably. The dwell times go up, and people bring their luggage and other things onto the bus, delaying everyone. It makes more sense for them to be fully 40fter/artic than for them to have 45ft MCIs in which their practicality is questioned. It was a little better when they had the D4000s.

On the R routes, it's not that bad, the locals, it's terrible, and the 158 is just as bad.

I met You Personally at Court Square,on the street, next to the B62 bus stop, and the Flushing line entrance.

You were taking photos and walked past my wife and I..

I stopped you, and we talked about the hobby.

Yeah.....you're making things up lol. I've never met you. Stop trying to make to make it seem like we've ever met or known each other. I'd remember if I've met you or your "wife". Lying is not going to save you.

Anyway, this thread has been cleaned. Keep the bullshit off of this thread. Handle your business elsewhere

And I noticed some other heads who continute to post for no reason/posters that haven't posted in forever commenting nonsense as well. Keep out if you're not going to contribute anything to the topic.

I never understood the purpose of MCIs at Fairview tbh. Most their lines are mostly on local streets, and not really for highway express. Another reason why I don't get an MCI being on the 126 tbh (unless its to fill more seats for the demand). It does keep their mileage down though I believe.

Also 21236, 21237, and 21238 are all at Wayne. Time to catch the remaining CLs.

I don't mind it on the 126 as much mostly because the line is short and passenger flow on the 126 isn't that bad on an MCI.

The 150s, however, especially a reverse peak 158....HORRIBLE. And there's people that bring luggage onto the bus. I rode on a 22000 a few weeks ago on the 158 and the dwell time was forever.

They're sending those buses back to Wayne? I guess Fairview is priority number one before Wayne gets all the remaining 9000s and 7100s replaced and perhaps Meadowlands getting a few all white MCIs

Makes more sense to send those back to Wayne than for Fairview to maintain two different fleets of MCIs.

I still don't understand why Fairview has MCIs, those things are horrible on all of their lines.

they leased a plot of land for 15 years, with no plans whatsoever to build anywhere on the island in the meantime, and no contingency plan(s) going forward. so what exactly was the point of having a Meredith "Depot" in the first place? is it a case of they just don't need a 4th depot or annex on staten island anymore or was this another case of wasted time/money with the "powers that be" sitting around circle-jerking with their thumbs up their collective asses? I'm seriously asking... no sarcasm.

When Meredith first opened, that took a lot of stress away from Yukon and Castleton specifically since they always had a ton of express buses OOS. Charleston also had their fair share of problems maintenance wise in the beginning. And with it being a weekday-only depot and a mostly rush-hour depot, that kept the mileage on a lot of those 2400s down.

At least with it going away by the summer, it'll kill off the shortages that Castleton is having(but definitely not their maintenance woes). But now, my question is whether or not Yukon or Charleston will have space for the extra buses that Meredith has gotten, especially the 1500s. Having been in and out of Charleston personally.....I have doubts.

  12. Removed the last few posts due to them not contributing to anything in regards to this thread, along with a few others just posting for no reason at all.

And please, I'm only going to ask this once before folks get warnings applied to their account. Report buses ONLY IF they are at Eastchester scrap, being parted out or if they've haven't seen service for more than 3-4 weeks or so. As I've said before, removal of fare payment systems DOES NOT always mean its being retired. I feel like I've said this more than once already. As mentioned by Seveneleven in another thread, we do not want this place to be a source of misinformation, so make sure that whatever you post is 100% solid, this especially applies to you @Calvinwith your posting habits and history.

If you have no business posting in this thread and is posting for literally no reason at all, stay out, you know who you are.

I'm going to need you to stop lying before you get the boot from this forum. You keep posting misinformation without proof.

This is straight from DCAS themselves. As you can clearly see, it has an extension date up to next year.

2305-2311 if approved. And why are ppl still using Discord? Me personally, I’m against discord or any political supported social media network

You think discord is a politically supported social media network? You're definitely out of touch. It's basically Skype or any other messaging platform for gamers and regular people, nowhere close to being a social media network of any kind. I don't know how you're against something you know nothing about.

As for the numbers, they may be the ones you mentioned, but let's not make any assumptions.

Ulmer Park needs extra buses since their 2011 prevosts are always crapping out.

They won't get these MCIs. A bit of training for buses that are technically 3 or so year rentals aint worth it. Better off sending it to depots that are actually trained with them, in this case, basically all of Staten Island.

And Ulmer Park's maintenance has always been on the shifty side when it comes to their express fleet, so it's more or less their own doing.

So, this isn't completely official yet, as it's pending FTA approval, but Green Mountain Transit up in Vermont is planning to transfer 7 2013 MCI D4500CTs over to NYCT. These buses have not been used in service for some time. I can definitely see Castleton getting all 7 of these.

There is a pretty good chance that these will also be in the new scheme, just completely wrapped. Whether or not the signs or the alcoas will remain will be up for debate(they'll likely get swapped out).

Eastchester getting electric buses in the future is interesting… I wonder how that would work out

They've been slated for a few years now to get electric local buses. They were supposed to get the 25 Electric Bus order for MTA Bus, but that's been postponed several times now.
