  1. Re: Your new avatar. I like the idea of a Concourse SBS and had been thinking about it for a while, but I think there should just be a Bx1 SBS. No Bx2 SBS. I think the Bx2 should be extended to Riverdale Av at all times, and the Bx1 SBS should operate via 231, Bailey, Van Cortlandt Av West, Sedgwick and then follow the current Bx1 route to Mitchell Houses. Stops would be on 231 at Riverdale Av, Broadway, then 238/Bailey, Sedgwick/VC Avs, Tracey Towers, Bedford, Kingsbridge, Fordham, Burnside, Tremont, Mt Eden, 170, 167, 165, 161, 149, and 138/3 Av.

Bx2 local would operate via 231, Bailey, Albany Cres, Heath, Fort Independence, Sedgwick, and then it would loop around the block (South on Concourse, 149, Courtlandt, 3rd, 138, and then head back north on the Concourse) for the few people that still want Concourse/144 and Concourse/138. The loop routing would eliminate all those bad turns the N/B Bx2 has to make to get from 3 Av to 149 St. Passengers would be entitled to loop privileges.

  2. Welcome to the club Yuki. =)

  3. What is your avatar?

  4. Who is that guy in your avatar?

  5. Hey BJC. Hope you are well. I know it has been a while since we last spoke.

  6. I'm not sure. I haven't kept in touch with him. Try googling him or going through old subtalk and subchat threads. The only information I have is that he called himself Booge on said message boards.

  7. I got it from an old subtalker/subchatter named Booge. In exchange I gave him a CD with some of my transit photographs on it. He suggested we make that exchange so I could get that map in addition to a 1976 Brooklyn bus map, 1989 Queens bus map, 1997 Queens bus map, and 1982 (I believe) Manhattan bus map.

  8. This is not completely up-to-date, but it's very close to the readings we have now: http://www.hopetunnel.org/bus/dest/NYCTA_08-01-2006.txt
  9. Something not seen in years, a RTS (8785) in Kingsbridge. I think it had an Ulmer Park sticker.
  10. I remember too. I would hear it practically every day about 6-7 years ago. But Kingsbridge fixed it about 5-6 years ago, well before it left the depot. Those RTSs left Kingsbridge about 3-4 years ago. Unless 8870 has started making the air raid noise once again, it's a different bus. Also there is a RTS in Kingsbridge now. 8785, probably from Ulmer Park.
  11. Good stuff either way. Did you do the Sheepshead Bay sign by any chance? If not it's no rush.
  12. When you have time, can you do mine with the following modification please: B44 LOWER E. SIDE GRAND ST STA -Replaced with- B44 LOWER E. SIDE F D R DRIVE Thank you. Nice signs by the way. That authenticity is really good.
  13. Deleted post. I thought the NG sign text was the same as the LFSA sign text but I was wrong. There actually are significant differences when you look at each one closely.
  14. http://s1105.photobucket.com/albums/h349/bcd62092/ If you go back to my album again now, you will find 15 more readings and more characters to mess around with. Some noteworthy new characters include the medium W, medium 5, 6, and 9. I noticed that the so-called medium characters (used in "5AV/BWAY", "96 ST - #6" for example) are actually the same size and same resolution (they have the dots lit up in the exact same pattern) as the rear route signs. So that "96" in "96 ST - #6" on the front sign is the exact same "96" that shows up on the rear route sign if a bus is signed as an M96. Same number of dots lit up, same orientation and resolution. Also I didn't get a medium "M" but I think it would be enough to just take the medium "W" in "5AV/BWAY" and turn it upside-down to make the medium "M". Additionally when I took the picture of "M42 EAST SIDE U N-1 AV" I accidentally had the camera tilted in such a way that I missed the bottom row of dots. There is also an apparent glare on that sign that shows up in the most inconvenient place, distorting the small letter "U" slightly. And this was the only sign I photographed with the small "U". So I'll make it easier by giving you this below. Each x is a lit LED and each o is a dark LED. x x o o o x x x x o o o x x x x o o o x x x x o o o x x x x o o o x x x x o o o x x x x o o o x x x x o o o x x x x o o o x x x x x x x x x o x x x x x o Edit: Some important notes. I was wrong about the NG sign text being similar to the LFSA sign text. When I look closely I notice significant differences. Now there is a lot more work to do. Too bad I don't know anybody that drives a LFSA on a regular basis but I won't lose sight of trying to get some pictures. The thing is, with the stacked small letters, the bottom text on the LFSA may be the same as either the bottom or (not and) top text on a NG but the top text on the LFSA is quite tall. I mean when I look closely I say to myself wow. This can be seen in one of CaitSith's pictures: http://media.photobucket.com/image/bx12%20select%20lfsa/ShaneAKACaitSith/DSC07284.jpg Another important note is that they always make their signs in such a way that the letters on top are taller than the letters on the bottom when the text is stacked. And unfortunately I don't have top and bottom pictures of all the small NG letters. Letters on top are 12 pixels tall and letters on the bottom are 11 pixels tall on the NG sign.
  15. Here you go. 21 pictures of the NG sign are in an album I created. As I said before the text portion is the same on a LFSA. I am 99% certain, and you could hold me to it, that the route portion is also the same. The only conceivable difference is Bx12 vs. BX12. So I am 99% certain the NG and LFSA signs are the same size as well. So knock yourselves out. I have most of the letters of the alphabet in small, medium, and large sizes. Some pictures are shaky but I think it's still clear how many dots are lit up in all of them. Any questions, ask away. http://s1105.photobucket.com/albums/h349/bcd62092/ I made some mistakes like I thought that the NGs had all of their readings updated so instead of "RIV PK TWR via TREMNT" in large text it would have given me "RIVER PARK TOWERS via TREMONT AV" in medium text. But only some readings were dealt with like "via NOSTRAND AV" instead of the "via NOSTRND" nonsense. Some readings like River Park Towers still give you the gibberish abbreviations. My false notion that "S53 PT RICHMOND" would now be "S53 PORT RICHMOND" was also debunked. But I think there's enough to work with to make the better reading. I don't have a medium text P or M but I have the other medium text letters for that reading along with lots of other medium text letters. You could just the P by taking the stem off the medium R. The medium M looks hard. A Q56 reading would do it (they all say "via JAMAICA AV" and should really be in medium text on a NG) so I'll see if I can obtain one soon. I know code 5560 or 5561 will give it to me.
  16. Alright. I took many pictures of the NG sign, the text of which is probably identical to the LFSA sign. I'll link and describe each linked picture since it'll be too many pictures to view in the thread. Tomorrow or Saturday since I'm quite busy. We all know for sure that the X as in BX12 is uppercase on the LFSA sign, setting it apart from the Bx12 sign on a NG. Question now is if M15 or B44 on a LFSA is different from a NG sign. Now then. I would like this one LFSA style. Of course take your time, whoever gets around to it. If I get time I may even get into this myself. If I do, I'll let you all know and then I'll create requested signs. B44 +SELECT BUS SERVICE+ B44 LOWER E. SIDE GRAND ST STA B44 via NOSTRAND/ROGERS AVS via DELANCEY ST (try via NOSTRAND/ROGERS, via NOSTRND/ROGRS AVS, via NOSTRND/ROGERS, via NOSTRND/ROGRS in that order if the original doesn't work) and B44 +SELECT BUS SERVICE+ B44 SHEEPSHEAD BAY KNAPP ST B44 via DELANCEY ST via NOSTRAND AV
  17. Hopefully my friend has a NG tomorrow. I will take close-up pictures of that sign with a few different destinations. I also hope that I didn't come off like I disregarded etiquette in the other thread. That was not my intention. Anyway I'll get the help and have it ready by Friday. If you or CI want me to post my bus sign request here so that everything is in the same place I will. Then I'll also delete the original one that I posted in the train thread by mistake.
  18. Sorry. I didn't see what IRT Bronx Express said on the previous page until just now. Take your time. If I can be of any assistance, I know for sure that in the front, the destination part of the sign is the same on both the NG and the LFSA. The route number is larger of course. But the destination part can't differ by more than a LED here, a LED there. I personally don't see that. EDIT: Wow. I didn't even realize I posted in the wrong thread. I just realized this is the train, not the bus. So sorry. I was searching for one of these two threads and this was the first one that showed up when I wanted to make a request. I'll move my business to the other one.
  19. CI, can you create this one for me and try to make it look like the front sign of the Novabus LFSA: B44 +SELECT BUS SERVICE+ B44 LOWER EAST SIDE GRAND ST STA B44 via NOSTRAND/ROGERS AVS via DELANCEY ST (try via NOSTRAND/ROGERS, via NOSTRND/ROGRS AVS, via NOSTRND/ROGERS in that order if the original doesn't work) and B44 +SELECT BUS SERVICE+ B44 SHEEPSHEAD BAY KNAPP ST B44 via DELANCEY ST via NOSTRAND AV This is my dream, folks...
  20. "Dropping seeds." Very engaging vocabulary sir.

I think this forum still holds its own. The problem is that the world is misbehaving a lot and so some of it seeps its way onto here. It's a bunch of bullshit going on out there: The B35 incident, the guy that got mugged at 4th Av-9th St, etc. Sometimes it leads to internal tensions unfortunately. It doesn't have to be this way. Mitigating this vicious cycle of unfortunate events and ill feelings requires a strong constitution.

  21. Wow. I didn't know so and so happened until I saw these last two messages. Feel better Knight Rider.
