  1. Oh I was hoping they would all be called New York City Bus. Could also be a move to save money. No need to put the stickers on the buses anymore

I hope not, I like the depot sticker Art, specially the kingsbridge logo with a RTS bus coming out of the caste, as well we know which depot maintains them. this is just my opinion but the Quill Depot Maintain there buses very well. very clean...by NYC standards.

  2. Do you guys think that they will preserve one 6000 orion V for there museum fleet?, I understand we have 101 and one as a training bus but that's it and those are 93 models. it sad because they have different types of old and new look buses and different types of RTS in the museum fleet, they didn't ever bother preserving Orion V CNG.

  3. Actually, Moses was "trying to turn NYC into LA" before Los Angeles turned into LA. In the 1950s, when LA started building its freeways, New York already had parts of the BQE and the LIE open, with the Cross Bronx Expressway under construction. In fact, LA still had Yellow Car streetcar lines in service five years after New York's last streetcar line (over the Queensboro Bridge) shut down in 1957.

I crap I forgot about that part of history, L.A had the biggest trolley infrastructure in the world.

  4. What is RFW ?

they were pretty common back then with the older Subway cars. but in 97 they started to full cabs all R62 and some R62A singles, The remaining singles will be converted to a 5 car set or be use as garage trains or work train replacing the work redbirds.

  5. got 2046 a couple of weeks ago

As a 90s kid The RFW was the best part about the Subway. it give me a nostalgia trip riding in the front seeing the rails for the first time since 2002 on the 4 train,I can't be leave it the end of an era.. well it least untill the R32's Retire.

  6. That's not necessarily true. The (7) connects to the (N) @ Queensboro, (L) connects to the (J) and (M) and the (6) connects to the rest of the Lexington Line (4)(5) . But yeah the (7) and (L) doesn't share with any other line.

Well it doesn't share track service wise,The queensboro diamond crossover is there to take subway car off the flushing line if the R62's needs major work they go to the coney island overhaul shop via B division trackage, queensboro junction hasn't been used for service since the duel BMT-IRT days of the 40's. however the junction in 125th is used for the  (4) to make local stops on the Lexington line at late nights.

  7.

C/Rs were shouting over the PA, T/Os were making announcements at the same times as the C/Rs, there were a lot of annoyances. Couple of basic screwups as well while C/Rs were getting used to the equipment, I had one C/R who pulled into 23rd, made all the announcements for the station and the 'Stand Clear' without ever opening the front half of the train. Luckily the T/O caught the mistake and radioed back, doors opened.

But I agree, those 62As can and do move faster than the 142As...it's just loading times in the rush that are the achilles heels.

Thank you, if they overhaul R62A with modern tech it would be a lot better, like auto announcements LED destination sign  but it looks like we won't see that anytime soon.

  8. You sir are almost 3 yrs late on the swaps .... and nothing makes the (7) special , it needs the CBTC to replace the old signal system as well to improve crowding , that is why the R142As from the (6) are getting cbctc and are now R188s , and why the R62As are returning back to the (6)<6>

But Lexington ave is the most crowded then any line and they are relying on old signal system. yet the get the old rolling stock WOW LOL.
