Where did skill like that go?

They're all great brands. Buy the one that suits you best.

Was watching a lot of Sanford & Son on YT last night. Great show.

The DMV in Bethpage is reasonable. Stay away from the ones in NYC. The one on Rockaway Turnpike is a disaster, too.

If you would ordinarily buy it to upgrade, then go ahead and upgrade, but otherwise, go for the repair.

Is the new model a significant improvement?

Picked up a Droid 4 tonight. A much welcome upgrade from my Droid 1.

In the backpack, depending on what else i'm carrying that day, i'll protect the bottom of the bag with an old t-shirt rolled up. Lenses I keep in lens sacks (drawstring-close, padded interior). In the satchel, the bottom is already padded so i'm not worried about that. The two bodies I carry are pro-level bodies, so i'm not worried about abusing them. They're probably a lot more rugged than I am, heh.

I'll either keep it in a nondescript North Face backpack or my Domke satchel. They both have the advantage of not being an obvious "camera bag".

It's different on the railroads. The deadman's switch is not integrated into the throttle. They have to press an alerter button every few seconds.
"Ah gee pah, what's that there telephone ringing in that cab there?!"

Interesting. I wonder if hanging something moderately heavy on the MC handle was common back in the day. Would make sense as to why the current deadmans are rather "minimal"...

Can the handle be released in full service braking on the new techs?

It's a deadmans switch to verify that the operator isn't incapacitated. If the handle is released while the brakes are not in emergency or full service, the train will automatically apply the emergency brakes.

Some people are just...dense.

Lesson of the day: if you're an off-duty RR employee, don't try to start shit with a passenger while wearing your ID card face-out.
