  1. Meh, don't get caught up in the marketing game too much. Great photos have been taken with kit lenses, too.
  2. Why shut down the whole station (essentially) for a 12-9 on one or two tracks?
  3. Who cares if a lens is an L-series lens or not? IQ in the final product is what matters, not the ring around the front.
  4. Why would making them EF-S lenses be an advantage? The inability to fully interchange EF and EF-S lenses makes them problematic.
  5. AF-S/USM is all the rage these days. I'd personally love to see Nikon take more of an initiative with USM like Canon has. But then again, Canon did shut the door on their shooters when they introduced the EF mount...perhaps this is their way of saying "thank you"?
  6. Mforgery. M4s are select-fire carbines with 14.5" barrels, my AR is semi-automatic with a 16" barrel. Rifles with barrels shorter than 16" are considered short-barreled rifles (SBRs)...unfortunately SBRs are illegal in NY (but legal in most states, along with short-barreled shotguns, suppressors and machineguns.)
  7. Gotta prepare for the upcoming zombie apocalypse...
  8. AC traction is the way to go. Sealed motors are a huge improvement for maintainers.
  9. I'm a big fan of external RAID storage. Network-aware is preferred. I'm thinking about buying a unit to do RAID 5.
  10. Firefox here. Chrome and IE both suck balls.
  11. Never liked those drives. I actually have an 80GB SpinPoint on my desk here, though it has no critical data on it.
  12. That looks like typical Samsung SpinShit quality.
  13. I just built a brand-new Phenom II X6-based system and now installing Windows. Woohoo!
  14. M3 has "quiet" propulsion system because it's DC (GE SCM). AC traction involves a frequency change that will resonate.
  15. To be honest, i've never used any Verizon wide-area wifi thing. Unless you're asking if the iPod touch is compatible with the wifi router they supply?
  16. Indeed it is. The level of foaming in the cab was equal to, if not greater than the foaming outside of the cab.
