  1. Too bad those foamer members have done so much for preservation as a whole.
  2. Looks like someone's compensating for a little "lackluster" performance.
  3. Thread has been a little dead. Time to breathe some new life into it...with Dexter.
  4. Embarrassing that they let scum like that wear the uniform these days.
  5. They may not compress as much as Cablevision, but all cable carriers reduce the bitrate of their HD streams. Verizon doesn't have to do so with fiber (at least to the same extent)...there's plenty of light to go around for everything.
  6. I'm all for some NYCHA-style justice. Let them kill off their own population.
  7. Photos of Slants within the past ten years or so don't really count as "nostalgia", hah.
  8. As far as HD is concerned, Verizon applies the least amount of compression to their video streams. Cable systems (especially those using DOCSIS 3) compress their video streams because they have to. Lack of bandwidth, really. IMO, FIOS has the best picture quality (aside from OTA locals, which will always look better OTA.)
  9. They're awesome. I've got FIOS for internet, landline and television, service is great. Only downside is that a power outage signals the loss of my landline. Hardly a unique situation to non-copper-based telephone systems though.
  10. Ants have quite a high power-to-weight ratio. I bet if you had a few billion ants, you could just have 'em lift up the entire train and carry it over to the other track.
  11. ABs and special motors/trucks? I'd like to hear this.
  12. How much space do you think this thread consumes in the database?
  13. Camera shake occurs at all shutter speeds. Whether or not it is optically evident in your photos is another question. For example, imagine a camera duct-taped to a vibrator (yes, i'm being serious here, you pervs.) You trip the shutter twice, one frame at 1/30 shutter speed and another at 1/8000 shutter speed. Camera shake in both shots was the same, regardless of the shutter speed (or even presence of IS), right? That said, IS is useful at all shutter speeds, in fact, Nikon sells a 200mm f/2 lens that has VR (Nikon calls it VR; Canon calls it IS). We shouldn't forget the famous 70-200mm f/2.8 VR.
