  1. You're on a PUBLIC street taking a picture of a PUBLIC vehicle (city property, not gov't property). Photos are permitted as long as long as you're not using flash or blocking traffic.
  2. At that time, each is 5 minutes behind the next so you got a combined 12 tph there. Now if you count them individually, each is 10 mins behind the next so you got a whopping 6 tph individually. If you're waiting at a only or only stop when both are running, headways actually DECREASE during that period
  3. It's all the fun of BRT, without being called BRT ...and a lot of other things that keep it from being a "true" BRT
  4. I was riding the buses and trains by myself by age 10 going to/from school. And that was almost 20 years ago. And when my son(s) gets around that age and if he gotta go to school by bus or train, he will be going by himself too. I'll ride with him the first month or so to show him where to go, and after that he's on his own.
  5. Wouldn't be much to reroute. Can't send trains off the bridge down to lower Nassau since the trains would be too long to actually fit in the station. If there ever was a problem along Nassau St, trains can easily get turned back at Essex St.
  6. They share the 160s since both are based out of Jamaica
  7. The B15 and the B82 are the heaviest lines out of ENY. With the B82 eventually becoming SBS, and the B15 with the severe overcrowding, it would make sense. LMFAO For the most part, it's the same exact stop placement, with barely 20 feet of stop separation for local and SBS buses in a lot of places.
  8. I use BlipRail. The IRT lines (save for the 7) and the L goes off the ATS system and generally shows the trains in real-time. All the other lines go off the schedule and all of the trains are overlaid over the map. The non-ATS lines can also be updated to their current location by any user...think of it like Waze. It's Android only though.
  9. At least one of their trips of the day has to be done manually. Also during wet weather since those trains slide everywhere
  10. It was the Boston one, in their livery with their number on it. MTA just called it 0013 while they used it. It never ran in passenger service, just followed Grand Av lines (like the B62) just to test out the Allison hybrid system
  11. Plattsburgh has the NovaBus plant. ...Unless New Flyer building a plant up there too, then that would be news to me lol
  12. More than likely from the old NABI plant in Alabama.
  13. IIRC at one point you was able to track the shuttle. It was under Q99. Dunno if you can still do it, if anything I'll try again over the weekend since I use the to get to work. I completely forgot about it until you brought up tracking subway shuttles lol
  14. Drove past 6003 earlier today with the "TRAINING BUS" sign up ...what made it funny to me was that I saw it on 23 Av by LGA depot.
  15. Do you know how fast said train would have to go in order to get that far? Never mind the fact that the buildings up above would be unstable since the foundations go through the station. In either case... Jamaica Center to Essex St 71 Av to 2 Av, Myrtle Av to Metropolitan Av suspended Woodlawn to 86 St, Borough Hall to Utica Av Dyre Av to 180 St Pelham Bay Park to 42 St
  16. 207 St to 59 St via local, Jay St to Lefferts/Rockaways via local suspended (D)205 St to 59 St, 9 Av to Coney Island Jamaica Center to Lex-53 Via Crosstown, supplemental shuttle 71 Av to Lex-63 St via Queens Blvd local Astoria to Jay St-Metrotech via Whitehall, 8 Av to Coney Island 71 Av to Whitehall St Shuttle buses everywhere
  17. So I'm on the B6 right now and it's one of them buses with the turning announcements. Don't get me wrong, it's a very excellent concept, but the announcements can be a little louder. With NICE, the announcements are loud (amd bilingual lol), but the MTA ones aren't loud enough. You can't hear it unless it's too late. Now of it was somewhat louder, then it'll be perfect.
  18. The junction is at 142 St. The southern end of the station (rough guesstimate here) is around 143 St. The station itself is approximately 310 ft long (only fits 6 cars, 51x6=306, round it up to 310 for all intents and purposes. Once you leave the station, there's a crossover right in your face, a slight curve to the right, and a wide left swing into the station/yard which puts you at about 150 St. Not much room to play with for a diversion for a new tunnel, but it can be done. Just not all that practical. 1. Via Linden Shops. Connects to the LIRR Bay Ridge Branch 2. Via 39 St. Street level connection west of 39 St 3. Via train. Southbound track connected to the LIRR Bay Ridge Branch just north of New Lots Av. Connection removed during the CBTC conversion. None of them are 3rd rail powered
  19. This just opens up other questions... -Where would the go? Only thing this would do is cause merging problems at Lex-63. - What about the lost transfer connection at Lex-59? Now people are gonna half to walk 4 blocks for trains, or backtrack to 57 St. -What about Queens Plaza? No direct Broadway connection anymore, gonna have to go around the world now via Court Sq/Queensboro Plaza. Only gonna cause more problems than it would solve.
