  1. I got an email today to report to an assessment on 10/3 for a *provisional* TMA-T position in the Personnel Testing, Selection and Classification Unit. I'm pretty darn sure I never applied to such a position on the MTA website. Perhaps they're already taking names from the exam...one of the specific duties listed was developing and/or proctoring the civil service exams...
  2. I think this person is asking what to look for in the MTA/BSC employment portal, and the answer to that question would be that it's highly unlikely for it to show up there, you'll have to wait for an exam. Note - this is not true for all civil service positions, Transit is short on skilled trades (maintainers, car inspectors, etc) and has resorted to putting up job postings in the system for provisionals.
  3. I missed the "you must email" deadline for the protest session by 2 hours...
  4. The Glen Cove Ferry bus never made it into the GTFS feed, so any app that has it is doing it manually. The fall GTFS has some oddities in the Saturday schedule...there's a bunch of trips that shouldn't be there. Includes 7 n6X trips, 4 n6 trips, 4 early AM n4 trips, 3 Mineola-Roslyn n23 short turns, and an 8:55am n22 out of Jamaica.
  5. Where do you see this? The September schedules are posted here, but I don't see any major n1 changes. http://www.nicebus.com/Passenger-Information/Customer-Advisory-Committee.aspx The HTC-Hofstra-NCC shuttle is now the n16X.
  6. Ferry was full? When I rode it there were only 30-ish passengers. There's no ticket collection, all they want to do is see that you posses an LIRR ticket of some type.
  7. Posting is up again: https://hcm.mymta.info/psc/HCPRD/SELFSERVICE/HXMS/c/HRS_HRAM.HRS_APP_SCHJOB.GBL?Page=HRS_APP_JBPST&Action=U&FOCUS=Applicant&SiteId=1&JobOpeningId=90569&PostingSeq=1 Note - unlike LIRR, external applicants must either be engineers from another railroad OR have 3 years of experience as a truck driver, pilot, B/O or T/O.
  8. I was in room 205. I overheard someone ask the proctor how many people were taking the exam, and she said 980, but wasn't too sure about it. Having no other exams to compare this with, this exam was not exactly what I expected, but not too far off either. I hated those "supervisor interaction" questions...the rest was pretty easy with a couple individual exceptions.
  9. Except that the site got the PM ferry times completely wrong. There's only two trips, arriving at 5:50pm and 7:30pm.
  10. Not on the GO, but it's here: http://web.mta.info/nyct/service/planned_servChanges_EF_weekend.htm
  11. Just got a text and email reminder...at an email address that I didn't list on the application form. They must've dug up my record at the BSC and emailed everything on file.
  12. Has that always worked for you? I'm inclined to play it safe and not bring my phone, just a couple quarters for a pay phone... How long is the exam normally? All it says is 10:30 start, get there an hour early. Probably no more than a few hundred.
  13. Hopefully that 75 Av bypass doesn't come with an associated slow order...7/10 is the same date that the LIRR work begins.
  14. Each block represents a set of trips that turn for each other. Because some of these are way more than a 12 hour day, I'm assuming that these represent vehicle cycles, not driver cycles. One vehicle or driver can work multiple blocks over the course of a day (as evidenced by the one-run pieces near the bottom of the list).
  15. Summer 2017 interlining grid: Weekday Saturday Sunday Blue = ARBOC, yellow = articulated. On weekdays, they have four artics out at a given time under the new schedule, and they're only operating rush hour express service. No weekday midday or evening artic operations. On Saturdays there are two out all day. Presumably the others will work the n88 as needed. The n19, n78/n79, and n80 remain their own blocks, not interlined with anything else. Route by route, from looking at the timetables (all are weekday, no weekend changes on these routes): n22: No changes, timetable removes all mention of the n22A. n24: 5:47p from Hicksville eliminated, 10:15p from Jamaica will terminate at RFM. Minor time changes. n19: 2min added to AM running time and 2min removed from PM running time. Turn changes. n23: 10:30a trip from Mineola eliminated. n27: Added 7:36a trip from Hempstead, 10:45p trip from Hempstead eliminated (9:45p trip will run Willis Ave) n33: 3min added running time eastbound. n40/41: No changes. n48/49: Added 7:10a n49 trip from Hempstead; PM eastbound minor time changes. n54/55: Time changes all day. The westbound schedule contains typos in the PM (route numbers), early AM westbound short turns extended to originate from Unqua Rd and Sunrise Mall respectively n58: Added 9:25p southbound trip from USMMA. n72: 6:15a from Hempstead and 1:02p from Rt 110 eliminated. Time changes. n70: 4:24p and 6:15p from SUNY Farmingdale converted to n72 trips. Time changes. n80: Minor time changes. The trip removals from the n24, n23, and n27 timetables don't appear to be new service cuts, rather, they look like trips that never run under the April schedule but were included by accident. They were not in the April not in the GTFS.
  16. Rode 1967 on Friday. The bus ran fine, but it was really dirty on the inside, and the seats are really uncomfortable compared to the 40 ft buses or NYCT artics.
  17. Operationally it's like any other civil service exam, so decisions are based solely on score and not whether or not you're a new grad. I'm a new grad too and also signed up to take the exam, but it's in the back of my mind. Applying through the main interface is the primary route I'm taking.
  18. If you really want such positions, I cannot overstate the importance of applying on the main site here: https://www.mymta.info/careers/index.html I have a feeling that this exam is primarily going to be to replace provisionals and/or provide permanent status to current employees, and not to fill new openings. That said, I may be wrong.
  19. http://www.auctionsinternational.com/auction/nassau-mta-10640-10640 1003 1004 1006 1009 1011 1633 1634 1637 1638 1640 1641 1644 1647 1651 1653 1655 1656 1660 1661 1664 1665 1670 1690 1691 1695 According to the CPTDB wiki there are 6 remaining ex-Foothill buses and 33 remaining ex-MTA Orion V's. I would assume most of these are not seeing daily service?
