  1. Yes it is. The document says that 435 of the remaining low floor buses are going to be electric.
  2. You will be paid regularly. You are a full employee from day 1. You will get your first paycheck 18 days after. Benefits will start 90 days in.
  3. Realistically, it’s best to stay. It’s going to be a lot of years before you can see weekends, holidays or summer vacation. Then however long it takes for you to pick a job with set hours. Commuting is gonna suck since where you start is not always where you go home from. Then you have the pay cut for 5 years. The OT is there though. If you can leave your DOE job and come back (in which you should within the year), try it out for the fun of it. Just keep in mind that training will take up most of the year, so you won’t have a lot of time being out on your own before you would have to make the decision to stay or not.
  4. Your time served with NYCERs will stay. Your picking seniority is gone. It will be like you're a brand new employee when you transfer to Queens. Most people who transfer to TA Queens either lives in Queens or nearby, or they find working in the boro easier than working in Brooklyn, etc. When you transfer to Queens, it is a one way deal. You will go to whatever depot is available and then transfer into your Queens depot of choice. Once you get there, that is your work location for the rest of your driving career. Queens does not do system picks. Queens also does a lot of things differently when it comes to depot operations. For example, their VR and XL is combined and you will be able to specify what work you want every day (or every week), in seniority order. Queens also allows you to use your PLD to bump anyone in the red book, regardless of where they are in quota. If they are last in quota, they are subject to bumping. Also being that all three depots have a smaller amount of operators, the quota can be different from what you're used to. (Outside of the fact that the union pretty much does the book) There are other things, I'm sure a Queens operator can chime in for you. All three depots can have fuel lines after the PM rush hour. That can go either way depending on how you look at it. That's all I can think about right now.
  5. As everyone else mentioned, it depends what you fall into. The majority of the time you will be on the extra list. However, if there’s a permanent open run at the depot, you may be able to pick it and be assigned to it for the remainder of the pick. The next bus operator pick starts in April, so if you come out of training before then, you’ll be able to pick your assignment.
  6. This is for full time at all the MTA Bus garages. If you voluntarily pick and wasn’t forced into Spring Creek, JFK or Far Rockaway depots, those are the three depots that you will be working out of. Vice versa for the other MTA Bus depots. You go into the remaining MTA Bus depots, you can only work out of those other depots.
  7. The 6700s are done at Quill. All marked for scrap. Hale has 76 and 86 left.
  8. It’s 8 hour days and for the first week, you’re working Sunday-Thursday.
  9. It’s 18 months from conviction date and yes, your current points will be counted.
  10. @JRev529 19A DQ is 9 points within 18 months. You will be dq’d for a year if you reach that amount. You are correct about the road test. The MTA will set that up if you go to training with the permit.
  11. The M9s deadhead from end to end using the FDR. The north terminal is at 23rd and 1st while the south end is at Battery Park City.
  12. Zerega is having on average 100 operators starting every two weeks. (Mixed TA/OA and MTA Bus) I’ve been at the training center for two new classes (1/2 and 1/16) and two graduations this month.
  13. There’s employee bathrooms yes and you just have to call the command center for a comfort, secure your train and go find a bathroom.
  14. 4306 and 6771 are still alive. They are both at Zerega.
  15. You need to have a note from your doctor that says you use the CPAP and that you can perform your duties safely.
  16. @R10 2952 The flush rear doors were actually the standard configuration. Well that solves that life long childhood mystery
  17. Sometimes you can't go by the farebox getting removed as an indicator for scrap no more either. Zerega has 4036 and a bunch of OGs for training.
  18. It's not bad but it does take a long time to be able to pick those runs. Unless it has like TW off, then it's easier to get them, lol.
  19. If anyone has been called for the drug test, medical or is scheduled to start training, let me know. Trying to update the info blurb across all of these topics. I need your list # range and exam #, what you did at pre-employment thus far and what date you're starting training. TIA
  20. You won’t be contacted until you call DCAS and the Exams Unit notifying them on your intent to restore your name to the list. You can restore your name up to 3 times as you said, or until the list expires. Whichever one comes first. Once you're reinstated on the list, you will be one of the first people to be called to start the hiring process for the next class.
  21. Your pass is accepted on all MTA vehicles. It might not work in the farebox or the turnstile but you’re afforded the same privileges as everyone else.
