  1. Connecticut banned third rail and most of the NH Line is in Connecticut.
  2. Thanks for the info! Did you say that you've taken apart traction motors before as an employee?

  3. Hey SubwayGuy,

I am currently researching on electric traction and with the R32s retiring, do you know if I can purchase a Westinghouse 1447JR DC Traction Motor? I am also well aware that a traction motor is very large in dimensions.

  4. The M7s are excellent in my opinion and one of the smoothest commuter trains I've rode on presently at 80mph+. Their seat comfort is definitely better than that of the NJT MLV seats by far!
  5. Hey EE,

MEF is back on under a new host! http://www.manhattanexpress.net/forums/

How's Riders Diaries coming along? It'll be great if your community can share a life with us!

    Thanks for your support EE.

  6. I bet that the M8s would be rough with hard seats.
  7. Hey EE,

Within the last 4 weeks, we exceeded the free webhosting storage amount of 10GB for sending the MEF mass email and got banned. I'm planning to pay for webhosting and we should be up and running over the break! I'll notify you once we resolve it again!

  8. Yes I did, but I decided to let my mom return it for me at the Penn Station LIRR Booth so I don't have to waste first class postage filling a refund request for a $20 check.

  9. Yeah, I planned a college visit last week and it didn't come in 10 days when they promised 3-5.

  10. Dreamhost gives unlimited space for $9.95/month for one year. My friend currently uses Rackspace Business Class for $1.70/month, but I'm not sure about how much space we get.

  11. SevenEleven, I'm actually R68. Perhaps it's time that we pay for webhosting services.

  12. Hey SevenEleven,

Do you know what happened to MEF?

  13. The M8s will only operate on the New Haven unless there's a snow emergency in the future that requires extra trains on the Hudson or Harlem like once before with the M2s. Note that the difference between the M7A and M8 is that the M8 is compatible with both 750v DC (to GCT) and 12.5v AC/25 hz (on NEC) and has both collector shoes and pantographs.
  14. Even better, the Shinkansen 700 and E3 series!
  15. At least 90% for the first 5 years as were other Japanese Trains elsewhere in the world!
  16. Kris, how did you change your screen name?

  17. Expect these to wear out in a decade and retire in two decades just like every Shinkansen fleet except the 0 series.
  18. Did you say that the M4s are going to be retired as well? I thought that the original slate was just for the M2s as the M4s are even younger than the M3/As.
  19. From screaming at my friends, yeah. Would you believe it, one of them never even swiped the Metrocard correctly after 10 times that day. When we were transferring from the 7 to the E at Roosevelt, they literally walked past the turnstiles without knowing and walked to the Elmhurst Hospital. I waited on the QB platform for 2 minutes and found out that they were gone.

  20. Nah, I was hanging out with my friends from NJ the whole day and decided to nap on a bucket of an R62A to South Ferry.

  21. Oh no problem! And Happy Birthday!
