  1. Yeah I was surprised to hear the BU Gate Cars showed up; I was thinking they were just going to send in the R11 and the R16...
  2. HA, I knew it was going to end badly the moment they decided to screw up the existing shaft and build it as elevators instead of escalators. Last-minute changes that really shouldn't have been made. But that's no surprise. MTA- going our own damn way...
  3. Take a trip to the station and you'll find the other side's still boarded up, the new staircases are still unfinished, and they have yet put the "architectural finishes" together. They haven't finished installing the metal panels, there's plenty of exposed wiring in the ceiling, and the eastern mezzanine is yet to be opened. A cluster of fvck if you ask me...
  4. Yeah I remember the was a strange bird back in those days- heck, I even remember seeing an R46 show up on that line once in the late '90s. Also, I just realized I've never seen a station musician at any of the elevated lines- anyone else notice this?
  5. Any update on Phase 1 progress? I know 72nd Street is behind, and if you've been to Lexington-63rd recently, you can see the renovation's far from finished. Won't be surprised if they push the opening of the east mezzanine to summer 2017.
  6. Now that I think of it, NYCT never really operated many Orion Vs in Brooklyn, did they?
  7. Okay, so the last three weeks there's been constant unannounced slowdowns on the north of 96th Street during the mid-day. Lot of guys in orange vests so it's obviously maintenance-related. Here's the problem: not only is it un-announced, the train basically crawls at about 15 mph for long stretches all the way between 242nd and 96th Street. What sort of G.O. is this? Anyone know what's going on?
  8. Nah, RTSes. You know they've stopped giving fvcks when they've ripped off the ads and the rubber strips...
  9. I swear, some of the buses that run out of Eastchester look like they were pulled right off the "pending scrap" line.
  10. Just read that Cortlandt Street on the won't be reopened until at least 2018. Clearly something is wrong in NY if it takes almost two decades to reconstruct just one goddamn station...
  11. Today seems to be one of those slow news days.... 1. SI Man Becomes First Undocumented Immigrant in NY to Receive Law License: http://www.ny1.com/nyc/all-boroughs/news/2016/02/3/si-man-becomes-first-undocumented-immigrant-in-ny-to-receive-law-license.html -Good for him, but does he realize this is in violation of federal law? 2. Man Accused of Robbing Armless teen faces Hate Crime Charges: http://www.ny1.com/nyc/all-boroughs/news/2016/02/4/man-accused-of-robbing-armless-teen-faces-hate-crime-charges-.html -Dafuq? He shouldn't be robbing people, but how the hell is this a 'hate crime'?
  12. R-42 SMS? About damn time. Those things have been seeping rainwater since at least the early 2000s.
  13. As some of you may recall, the almost never ran to Forest Hills after 2001. The MTA always claimed it was because of "maintenance". But I just realized that's BS; cutting the back to Court Square once the 63rd Street Connection opened was always their agenda and that's exactly what they implemented. Pretty slick.
  14. Exactly; both groups serve their own unique blend of weird and annoying, which just ends up pissing off the rest of us everyday folk...
  15. I used to ride the holiday train, but I got tired of the foamers and the hipsters real fast.
  16. Just curious- did they ever consider building a station at 79th Street? On one hand, I don't blame them for wanting to minimize the amount of stations, but skipping over such a major cross street just seems like an error in judgment...
  17. I've been reminiscing... What did the Metro-North use before the Genesis locomotives? F9s and 10s I guess?
  18. I have a Dell laptop with Windows 7 and the thing just barely runs okay (still better than GTA IV port, though). I would recommend something like an HP desktop with Windows 10 probably...
  19. Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I just got the brand-new PC version of the game. I have to admit, I'm pretty impressed with the map in GTA V, the graphics, even the gameplay. The freight train and the tram are okay, but they could have been done a bit better (I miss the look of the subway in GTA IV, and being able to drive the train in GTA SA was pretty great too). The low floor bus is so-so; I would have preferred if they had just carried over the bus design from GTA 4 to be honest. But the one thing that does suck is that although there's a lot of new cars (my favorite being the civilian version of the taxi/police car), they ended up cutting a lot of cars that were meant to be carried over from GTA 4 to 5. I miss being able to escape the cops while driving a parody of a 1970s mid-size sedan LOL... But I'm just glad that they did a better job with this PC version then the last one (4 was very badly ported); it's pretty great.
  20. Just wondering: every few years or so I've always seen an R-46 pop up on the , usually during rush hour. Anyone know if this still happens?
  21. I was just thinking, has the MTA given any consideration to putting some R-42s back on the line?
  22. Pedestrians need to be held to the same degree of responsibility as drivers. No excuses. That said, the whole Vision Zero package is a bad joke and should be done away with. I mean, we're talking about a mayor who let his chauffeur hit 50 mph through red lights, but sanctions the unnecessary arrest of bus operators. DeJesus had no criminal intent. People need to wake up and vote Warren out...
  23. I was wondering why Track 1 on the Shuttle is out of service. My understanding is that they're doing track repairs of some sort, but it seems like it wasn't planned in advance. Does anyone know the exact nature of the work being done there?
  24. Does anyone know when exactly the R-68 consist runs on the line? I've seen it sitting on the yard leads at 200th Street station usually around 5 PM weekdays, but I've never actually seen the damn thing in service...
