While this is a few months old, I thought it’d be relevant to post here:

In your case, I think it’d be best to list 40 cars rotated to and from the from ENY if they’re not going to be the same cars. This way, you won’t need to keep updating it.

Shouldnt blame operators if you're not 100% sure how it works. Theres a climate control switch, we either flip it on or flip it off. We can't control any temp or make it "max out". Either the switch is on or off. We are supposed to always keep it on. Chances are if you guys want the "AC" on, we do as well and wont have it off.
Down here at WMATA, most of our buses (except for the Orions) automatically turn on the climate control when we start them up.

A different set of R62's have been sent to the line. 1351-1355/1516-1520. The R62 set previously on the has been sent back.
The one set of R62’s on the is usually rotated at random. It’s never one specific consist.

There are YouTube videos of this technology in action. It's great during rain/nighttime driving. Personally, I see more good in this than bad. Able to squeeze into tighter spots, better visibility, and saves money by eliminating the cost of replacing broken mirrors. If it stops working, bus simply goes out of service. The previous comment is also something to worry about. I've only driven for transit for a year and a half so the change won't be too drastic for me but for longtime operators, it'll be harder to adjust.
I’ve been a bus operator for WMATA for just over a year and I also share the belief that most B/O’s, especially those with lots of seniority wouldn’t acclimate to that easily. As EastFlatbushLarry mentioned above me, you need to pay attention to your spots at all times. All it takes is for you not to check your mirrors for a split second or two and then BAM!
There’s a reason why we say down here in the DMV region to new student B/O’s: “Your mirrors are your best friends. Check on them constantly.”4 -

The B/Os even know the difference between Allison and ZF transmissions? Like at depots that operate buses with both (Like JG and WF for example) do they even know the C40s and XN40 have different transmissions but the same engine. I always got the feeling that if it's not relevant to their job title, B/Os don't care about that type of stuff. Seems more like an concern for the mechanics.
Some of us do move from operating buses to mechanics or maintenance, so it can be useful to learn about these things in advance. Not to mention, after you’ve been operating buses for at least five years and above, you get used to what their engines sound like, how they run in any condition, etc. While it may not be part of our title, it is useful to know the kind of bus we’re operating.

That's very impressive, man!
I myself am applying to become a booth clerk for the New York City Transit Authority. I'm surprised they even want booth clerks since they haven't let them accept money from passengers for buying MetroCards since mid March of 2020. Perhaps it is a pretext of wanting to do away with them when the time comes for One Metro New York.
Thanks, dude!
Same here, I didn’t think they’d still hire for those positions. If you’re thinking of moving to something more secure, you might want to aim for bus operator, conductor, or even train operator.

It’s been a while since I posted on this forum, so here’s what I’ve been up to:
I moved to Virginia two years ago, earned my CDL and became a bus operator with WMATA.

Correction: Manhattan bound is express in Queens the weekend of March 18-21. By the time I noticed the typo, it was too late to edit the list.

It’s been a minute since I’ve done this, but since I had free time, I decided to make a list to upcoming major weekend changes for March. For those who don’t want to scroll back and forth between pages looking for changes, this list should simplify things.
Note: I omitted small changes such as station skips that affect small sections of a line as I felt they weren’t that major unless connected to a major change.

These aren’t necessarily incorrect destination readings, but I wanted to point them out as it’s related to the topic:
S44 short turns to Post/Jewett Avs now display “POST AV” on top with “JEWETT AV” on the bottom where as before, they didn’t (at least on the Orion Vs and RTS when they were around).
On the 2019 Nova LFS: The S94 displays “SI MALL (top) YUKON AV (bottom) just like the S44 and S61 do. Any bus before that would show this: S94 “LIMITED” —> “SI MALL”—> “YUKON AV”. Meanwhile, the S91 just shows “SI MALL”
Some other SI routes that share terminals with different readings I’ve found odd are:
S48: ARLINGTON/HOLLAND AV
S98: MARINRS HBR
Any route that goes to St. George: “ST. GEORGE FERRY
S91, S96, S98: LIMTED —>ST GEORGE
S54: ELTINGVILLE/RICHMOND AV
S59: HYLAN BL
S78: RICHMOND AV
S89: ELTINGVILLE/HYLAN BLVD
Fun facts:
Before the S40/S90 were extended to Matrix Park:
S40: GOETHALS RD N. via RICH TR
S90: LIMTED—> GOETHALS RD via RICHMOND TERR
S52: Went from SI HOSP —> SEAVIEW AV to both in one reading.
S54: Used to read: W NW BRIGTHN, now it’s: W NEW BRIGHTON/RICHMOND TERR
The S57 used to just read “NEW DORP“, now it reads: NEW DORP/MILL RD.
S62: Many years ago, short-turns to CSI used to say: CANTRBURY AV
S79: Before SBS: BAY RIDGE/86 ST STA
Current: BAY RIDGE/86 ST STATION
SI MALL—> via HYLAN
I think it’s now STATEN IS MALL —> via HYLAN.
EDIT: I just looked through all the pages of this thread and I see that @checkmatechamp13 mentioned some of these already.

Also I saw 20802 last week doing driver training pass by the Irvington terminal. Not sure if that one has seen any actual service lately, though.
It’s in service on the 13 as of this moment.

Can we use the current depot names please? like TU and MCH? Thanks.
There’s nothing wrong with using the older codes. In fact, the original names are still used internally. It’s not worth stressing over.

3142-3149: ENY to 207 St.
I would give this some time before it’s officially declared a transfer. I know someone mentioned spotted working the , but there have been times where cars moved and then returned to its original yard.

Will continue the SIR to be 24/7 during the Coronavirus pandemic?
It’s running hourly to coincide with the Staten Island Ferry, which also had its schedule reduced.

On the R46s running on the , are the 96 St codes formally the option or is a newly added code to the screen?
Someone might be able to explain this better but, those codes were the programs and the reason for they show is either due to some R46 never receiving the upgrade or the update didn’t transfer to their LCD displays.

Those are most likely fill-ins.

Why are R44s 399 and 466 retired? Parts source?
466 I think was involved in a derailment some years back. Not sure about 399.

Those schedules are not reduced. Weekend service on a lot of lines operate more buses then weekdays. The 319 for example runs a bus every hour all day until 830 in ac and 845 in New York.
howell is running the 319(eht runs) and they paying 2 drivers a trip. Every driver is doing one trip and dhd back and the other driver dhd to ac to pull the 2nd trip.
Copy. Thanks for the correction.
