  1. TSP for buses making a left turn would be good for Fulton and Franklin, N6, N15, N31/N32. GPS like BusTime would be great, that would also help with the System Wide Transfer Communication. They can communicate verbally, but perhaps they'd be able to actually see where the connecting buses are on their routes. They said one of the issues with holding a bus for connections is that someone else might miss the next connection further down the route. In that case the the less frequent bus should be held. Easier said than done I guess. They should coordinate with SCT, that would be good for those connecting at Walt Whitman, Amityville, etc. The N72 connects with bus that goes to the Deer Park Outlet at Straight Path S33 . They should time it so that they make good connections and advertise that they can take the bus to the outlet. Especially on Saturdays. I see that it connects to the more freequent S27 but that's the long way. Perhaps they could connect every other 72 to the Outlet on Saturdays.
  2. Great shots and video! Thanks! Do you have any footage of their explanation of the N43 Extension? They just sound so reasonable , and apparently they went into much more detail during the presentation. If you don't have video, do you remember what they said?
  3. NICE: Michael Setzer Interview on service changes. News12 Interactive News 12 Interactive (Channel 612) has a couple of Michael Setzer video interviews up in the "iO Extra" section. If you have Cablevision but you're not in Nassau or Suffolk, just: Turn to Channel 612 Click on "NEWS" Arrow over to, and select "Other Regions" Select "Long Island" Click on "iO Extra" Both Interviews should be somewhere within the first 2 or 3 "pages" or so. Setzer know's his stuff. Any (bus)transit fan would like the interviews.
  4. I agree, the routes with changes will probably get signs first. Did you mean N24 instead of N25? Are the unique parts of the N74 routing used? Which parts of the N73 are used? should they be merged?
  5. Old Country Road will maintain its 30 min headways with the N24 extension. I don't believe that a N24 limited is needed as of yet, perhaps if the extension grows its ridership. As of now, riders know that if someone wants a quicker ride between Jamaica and the Old Country road area, then they should take the N22. Hillside Ave is mostly residential in Nassau so the N22 goes by with little stopping, it's basically limited for its western portion anyway. I'm not sure what 'confusion' there would be between "N6" and " N6 Express", with the N22, there may be confusion because there are 4 'versions' but people have to stop being babied. Learn the routes and routings. Just like FastTrack, you don't know other subway lines? Learn them! Same here.
  6. The goal was not to keep service the same, the goal was to do more with less. Those that attended the meeting, what was it like? Were a lot of people pleased, confused, what? I caught the Marriot one at the end, seemed "nicer" than MTA hearings.
  7. I believe so too, but they only split for a short distance. I think most of the ridership is in Hempstead in Uniondale, no? I didn't think of it that way, I was thinking they were using the short turns to run the N17.
  8. The N8 also doesn't get much ridership because it runs on hourly headways, and it's not timed to make connections to any of the routes it connects to. It's better to walk to Elmont Road to catch the N1 if you're going to/from Queens. If you're coming from Hempstead you have to time your trip well or you're waiting forever for the N8. Oh I see. How's it going so far?
  9. They're eliminating the N16 short turns between Roosevelt Field and Hempstead. Who's that?
  10. So that would be ok from the MTA but not ok from NICE? How so?
  11. I really don't get it, he's not the only one either. They have all forgotten that the MTA wanted to cut half of Nassau's service on JANUARY FIRST, TWO THOUSAND AND TWELVE. The MTA doesn't think, they just slash. Why do a lot of people act like Mangano is personally running the bus system? Anyway, I agree with your comment on the MTA. Though they did come up with the N43. The N8, i'm not sure whats going on with that. Its potential is limited ending at Hempstead Turnpike. Basically it goes the Green Acres, serves Dutch Broadway, but goes no where else. Yeah, I don't like the idea of the taxi company owner (whatever) being on a bus committee.
  12. Source: News12.com Express bus service to the city? Interesting. Obviously that would've been a conflict of interest for LIB/MTA. I wonder if they'll revive the N17 or just detour the N16 to pass by the hospital.
  13. More workers, no trains? BTW did all and trains use the Middle Platform at 34th street as the terminal during Fasttrack?
  14. Thanks I forgot to mention the . The OP wanted to get to Penn station around 10:30pm though. That's true, I only took into account lines close enough and parallel where they could possibly used as alternatives. For instance, if they did the Culver, the Brighton could be used as an alternative, especially for those who get on the bus anyway.
  15. I can see FastTrack for: -The Concourse line weeknight FastTrack. -The Jerome Ave line with an all weekend FastTrack or just weekend Daytime Fast Track. -Maybe Upper West Side, CPW Broadway lines - Brighton, Nostrand, Culver Lines (possibly)
  16. The train Crews will be running the trains. Since the 7th ave line is cut short, they're probably breaking even with the amount of trains/crews needed. the "" Trains will really be 's running on the Lex. They're going from Woodlawn to Flatbush Ave. The "'s" are running from Dyre Ave to Penn Station. They could use and crews for that. The area is fine at night. There is no train service between Penn station and Flatbush Ave. After 10PM. If you don't want to walk that block, you could : -Take the (B44) to the Nostrand Ave train Station to Penn Satation. -Take the (B41) to the Jay Street-Metrotech (A)/ station, take the to Penn Station -Take the to Atlantic, ® to to Metroech, to Penn Station -Take the to Grand Central, to Times Square, or to Penn Station. It's far easier/quicker to just take the to Herald Square.
  17. True, but there are a few factors to consider. The other N-S lines are through lines, the trains on those lines are usually passing through into other boroughs. They have to handle Local and Through Passengers. The 2nd Ave line will end at 96/125th. And will mostly be "local "passengers in that vicinity. When it first opens it will only go to 72nd street right? The Astoria Line doesn't have another subway line paralleling it, the 2nd Ave line will have the Lex.
  18. It will be like when the IND first opened. All service North of West 4th Street Station Via 8th Ave.
  19. How do you all think they will handle the switching of the ? In order for the A to use the Rutgers tunnel it has to switch to the local tracks south of 34th street or just north of W4th st. Maybe since it runs local over night anyway it will switch south of 34th. They will then have 3 locals though, , I guess with the overnight headways it should be fine. They may have to cut the to Forest Hills early because it may get too crowded on 6th ave.
  20. This statement always baffles me. "Complaining" that the C only has 8 cars is like complaining that the Q79 didn't use articulated buses. LOL Hilarious.
  21. Does anyone know if the M15 got an increase in ridership during Fast Track?
  22. I think it's absurd that people are reacting as if the entire subway is shutting down, and that there isn't another station usually 1 - 3 blocks away.
