  1. Which (types of) routes are they planning to run them on?
  2. They’ve installed 6 new fare gates on the south side of Sutphin Blvd . They are narrower than the original test gate (which still remains), but still wide enough for someone with small luggage or stroller. From my brief observation, it appeared to be fairly easy to use for those using OMNY to get through. Though, I saw someone struggling with an AirTrain MetroCard.
  3. I have benefitted from connectivity in various commutes, miss one bus take another route to a different transfer point, options are nice and helpful. The Q64 goes by Queens College, it opens up an easier commute for potential/current students , etc. A combined route may reduce turn over Kew Gardens. Maybe a Lefferts rider wants to stop at Forest Hills on the way home, eat, shop, whatever, use the transfer there. Maybe track work causes and to terminate at Forest Hills, etc. As for reliability, bus operations need to let dispatchers to do their job to mitigate bus bunching, etc. Stop padding schedules so much. “You get in trouble for being early, but being late is totally fine! It gives no incentive to provide timely service. You also have B/Os that play games with their leaders/followers. Bus time allows the “bus command center” to know where the buses are, there should be better measures in place to keep service in good standing. Also, as for dwell times, they’d use artics and all door boarding with OMNY.
  4. Aren’t they going to move buses to the main road on Queens Blvd? The Q10/64 combo would provide connectivity and run efficiency and move layover area. How would lines at Kew Gardens be different than now?
  5. Most of these problems are due to poor planning. Had they the foresight, the most simplest and cheapest solution for this track work would have been to extend the 13 stops to Forest Hills and call it a day. Not enough R160s? Cut the back to City Hall or Whitehall, send the to Bay Ridge. That’s the other thing. Williamsburg and Downtown Brooklyn have grown as well as areas along QBL local ( Steinway, Q70 @ Roosevelt, QCM @ Woodhaven, Forest Hills). The would be (is) more appreciated now, compared to an infrequent short train with a stub terminal at Smith-9th Street.
  6. I specifically said Liberty Ave, but the is possible as well. Also, if one is already on the in Brooklyn, they’d most likely prefer to transfer to a Q57 at Lefferts as opposed to the at Broadway Junction, then the Q110. But,yes, Liberty Ave traffic under the el has to be addressed as well.
  7. There’s a difference though, there’s choosing between buses which take you to the and which essentially run on the same line in Queens, then there’s specifically needing the or . The bus would run through Jamaica on the busway and go straight to the without transferring, makes a difference. Especially before CityTicket, I had to make those decisions.. There’s also those that will make use of the Jamaica LIRR (CityTicket) and the Q57 because they live closer to Liberty Ave as opposed to 101 Ave, etc.
  8. The Q110 does good from Springfield Blvd west. It does better east of Springfield during events at Belmont. The Rush routes are fine as those riders want to get to/from Jamaica and quickly. The rush routes will also reduce congestion as the buses won’t stop as frequently. One of the reasons for the 82 is to avoid complaints from Q36 riders and possibly provide quick service to QV and UBS arena. The Q110 has good ridership on Hempstead Ave west of Springfield Blvd. Otherwise the Q2 is more reliable as you said and tends to be favorited, also 179th st is closer than Jamaica Center, no one wants to be on the bus longer than necessary. Hempstead > Springfield > Jamaica routing may help with LIRR ridership. An eastern Jamaica Ave connection to the Jamaica LIRR and would be helpful in my opinion. There have been times where I missed the Hempstead train to QV and instead of waiting an hour for the next train , a bus would suffice, without first having to get from Jamaica to Jamaica Center or Jamaica Bus terminal. It seems like a “stub” but provides a connection to the extended Q43 which is proposed to go to North Shore hospital, and the Q45 Little Neck Parkway route. You have about an hour to edit your post before the option disappears.
  9. Is it due to the possible service issues that could arise?
  10. That would be interesting. We know the service to Mineola is just to save on mileage, but is there enough ridership to County Seat Dr to justify that short turn? When I used to use the N15, many riders were riding from HTC to One Old Country Rd / Country Glen Center and Glen Cove/Clinton Rds. I guess those riders would use the n27 now, but back in the day the N27 barely went to Hempstead.
  11. So, I noticed something today on the Atlantic Branch. At Atlantic Terminal, I boarded a train and walked to the front and I still had cellular service. (Usually, reception drops once you pass the rear two cars.) My reception did not drop for the entire trip to Jamaica. When did the tunnel get wired for service?
  12. Combos do not work with CityTicket. Combo Tickets are a separate option in the menu where you select an origin station and then the only destination station to select is Grand Central. With certain station pairs (and times), the best fare consists of a CityTicket and an off peak ticket.
  13. Full one way Q2, Q4, Q5. 95%+ full route Q44, Q110
  14. 1) No money and not enough crews, but instead of extending the 13 stops (that’s like 4 more train sets/ crews per shift to maintain headway) , they “increase service” on the entire line? 2) Compatible subway cars. How many sets are needed for the ? Train length would not need to be increased.( Unless CBTC has a minimum car length.) Put some green tape on the platform at QB stations indicating the beginning and end of where trains stop, call it a day. Use whatever for sets, send to 145th st if 57th st is having issues. Exactly! They know where the trains are there is no excuse for that. Touché I agree, do the shutdown(s) and get it done. Have overlapping projects in the same vicinity to reduce outages and think about service patterns/alternatives. They’re not going to cross-honor for an extended period of time, especially weekdays. Bus service is also more expensive. ( which is why I wonder why they have those Union Tpke - Jamaica center shuttles if the Hillside stations are like a <5 min ride away. Just run a Jamaica loop shuttle(s) between Hillside and Archer stations, could probably use much less busses.
  15. MTA hasn’t said much about the combo tickets, are they selling poorly?
  16. I mean, I understand where you are coming from schedule-wise but sometimes it doesn’t fly. Years ago during QB trackwork they had all local service G.O.s with terminating at Forest Hills. According to the it “cost money” to extend the to 179th street to get it out of the way of thru service, but the whole line and many more trains were backed up sometimes 10-30+ minutes anyway. They can pay (possible) overtime to who knows how many crews for extremely delayed trains on 3 lines, but can’t mitigate the delays by a 10 min extension of one line? It was a joke, being that they sent some trains via Crosstown. That’s probably the real reason.
  17. Perhaps they should extend the IBX across to SI and along the North Shore line, kill 2 birds with one stone. They will also not be detained by train service and would have the ability to connect to many lines, including the SIR and Ferry.
  18. So we got typical service, and the extension we suggested (out of concern for typical service).
  19. Looks like 1 bus most of the day with a 2nd bus for a few runs.
  20. How much are trains doing to delay the at Forest Hills?
  21. They're installing more of the wide turnstiles on the south side of Sutphin Blvd
  22. When they were running the weekend bus shuttles recently, it ran on 139th St between Jamaica and Archer Aves. I noticed there were bus stop pads along the street. Which route used to run on 139th st?
  23. Also, Merrick just needs an inner route to allow the Rush service, like the QBL. Many riders are going to/from East of Springfield Blvd. As for the 77, it needs to connect to at least Merrick Blvd for Green Acres connections, etc. They can do school trips to Springfield Gardens HS if necessary. I agree. The Q77 doesn’t run frequently enough to bother transferring there most of the time. One seat ride to Queens Village, Bayside (and Laurelton) LIRR. It should be a useful route. ——— I like the Q78’s southern end because it connects to many routes, which should allow easier trips,(though remnants of the first draft indicates there were plans to send it to Green Acres, how do you all think that would have fared?
