  1. According to Planned Service Changes : “What's happening? Track maintenance”
  2. Probably since they started serving Elmont-UBS Arena.
  3. Thanks! Do they use artics during UBS arena events?
  4. When did they start running artics on the Q110? I saw 5409 on the line yesterday.
  5. Would CBTC allow seamless extensions to Queens Plaza and/or Continental? At least when the isn’t running in Queens (ie. Late nite/weekends)? An extension on weekends would help with access to Downtown BK, Williamsburg, LIC, Queens Center Mall, and Forest Hills .
  6. Upon further investigation, the circuitry runs around the perimeter of the card apparently, so if it cracks, it becomes a bookmark. What if the person is just checking the ticket to verify the zones it covers, for a future trip, etc?
  7. So, I accidentally cracked my OMNY card and it completely stopped working. I had to buy a new card at the store for $6 ($5, plus $1 minimum balance) then go to the OMNY site and select “Replace card” in my account. Replacement is pretty easy though, much easier than MetroCard. Basically, they are thinking about ways to combat Fare Evasion, in general, across their services, one of them being barriers at “busy stations” for commuter railroads to prevent issues like not being able to punch tickets on crowded trains, delayed e-ticket activation on TrainTime, etc. —- They sort of have this addressed with City/Combo/Atlantic tickets, since they have to be used on the same day. But with other tickets, someone can still get a free ride(s) if their ticket isn’t punched. Previously, it wasn’t a major concern because most riders during the Rush were monthly pass holders, but now with remote working the monthly pass riders have dropped.
  8. “Solution” to integrate OMNY? LIRR considers physical barriers to combat $24M per year fare evasion https://www.newsday.com/long-island/transportation/fare-evasion-lirr-gates-otsp6s4f
  9. Do you know if most of those riders are going to the Subway, transferring to other buses, Etc?
  10. Not really an issue. They definitely watch who gets off at the station, so a disembarking mistake would be swiftly addressed.
  11. One of the new wide turnstiles has been installed at Sutphin Blvd .
  12. The Port Authority runs the JFK Air Train, they are also contracted with Cubic to have their own OMNY-like fare payment system. So, they will probably have one system for PATH and JFK Airtrain, possibly the Newark Airport Airtrain as well, once the PATH is extended there, at which point they may also accept actual OMNY fare cards for convenience. From a basic perspective, if the new PANYNJ system takes contactless bank cards, then there appears to be no reason to integrate with OMNY and pay the MTA any fees for the privilege. Unless, they work together to come up with new joint-fare options/discounts.
  13. They should say “beginning at 9:45PM each night”
  14. Planned - Part Suspended The last stop for Queens-bound is Queens Plaza Mar 31 - Apr 2, Fri to Sun, beginning at 9:45 PM Transfer at 34 St-Herald Sq to a Queens-bound * or for local service in Queens. Shuttle Bus Free shuttle buses run between Queens Plaza and 21 St-Queensbridge. Transfer between shuttle buses and trains at Queens Plaza | or 21 St-Queensbridge | *Queens-bound trains run via the to 21 St-Queensbridge. For continued service, please ask for a transfer ticket from the station agent at Court Sq, Queens Plaza or 21 St-Queensbridge. Reminder: trains do not run in Queens overnight. What's happening? We're modernizing signals on the Queens Blvd Line Posted: 03/24/2023 02:57 PM Planned - Local to Express Forest Hills-bound skips 36 St, Steinway St, 46 St, Northern Blvd and 65 St Apr 1 - 2, Sat and Sun, 6:30 AM to 9:45 PM For service to these stations, take the to Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av and transfer to a Bay Ridge-bound . For service from these stations, take the to Queens Plaza and transfer to a Forest Hills-bound . What's happening? Structural maintenance —— How does one “take the train to Roosevelt Ave and transfer to a Bay Ridge-bound “ if the last stop is Queens Plaza over the weekend?
  15. I wonder how the passengers felt about that situation. Do you find that they start to recognize operators and just stop asking?
  16. I haven’t been to Atlantic Terminal since the new schedules started, which tracks are they using? Is it mostly 1 and 2?
  17. Does anyone know why the 10-Trip and the 30-day unlimited fare options require a new MetroCard and the $1 fee when there is no refill option, other than adding value to an existing PPR MetroCard?
  18. Sounds like they want a Q70 equivalent to the that uses the GCP?
  19. Press conference. https://www.youtube.com/live/gyAT4c1W5AY
  20. What will be the excuse once MetroCards are decommissioned?
  21. This is something they’re trying to address in the Bus redesigns, however people are complaining about that because they can’t see the big picture.
  22. That’s fine, but it was frustrating during the first phase of CBTC installation where they’d run the local while all 3 lines were running local. Not only were trains already delayed due to slow speed orders, the orders led to congestion with three trains running local, and THEN then they’d have trains blocking “northbound” and trains while fumigating at 71st Ave, and “Southbound” and trains blocked by trains at 71st Ave dwelling before their run. So NOW they want to turn trains at Queens Plaza after making every excuse possible the last time.
