  2. Definitly going to Stamford tommorow at about 4 then going to GCT and back to White Plains.

  3. Yeah, I know buddy. My mom took my laptop away and said I needed a break :( So im stuck to using my phone, which gets annoying to use after a while. I should have my laptop soon though and I will most likely be going MNRR railfanning this weekend.

  4. Unfortunately, I will not be able to go railranning tomorrow because my mom just told me I have to stay home and watch my little brother for the day. I was dissapointed to hear this but I will definitly go next weekend, if I dont go sunday. I hope you can understand. P.S. I was very interested in meeting you and I hope I do so soon...

  5. Hey what's up St Louis Car. I was just letting you know that I will most likely be taking the I-Bus to Stamford tomorrow to takes some pics and vids with my phone. So if you wanted to stop by Ill probably be there like around 3 and stay a couple of hours.

  6. Other trains will not work on the New Haven Line because the NH Line is on the NEC (North East Corridor) which uses catenary wires which are overhead. All of the other electric trains MNRR has (primarily the M7s use third rail power) In order to operate trains beyond the third rail, Diesels are used for push-pull trains. The electric train cars that use the third rail (M7s) will either not run on the line if there is no third rail or run part of the line if there is third rail and terminate where ever the third rail ends. For example: on the Harlem line, M7s operate only to Southeast (where the third rail ends) In order to continue the line, people must be on one of the Diesel trains that go straight up to Wasaiac
  7. St Louis Car is right. The LIRR doesn't have that many old cars that need replacing. Metro North is doing this because the NH Line NEEDS new cars.
  8. Won't the M9s just be upgraded M7s?
  9. Do you know what I just noticed about the cab that different from the M7? There's a CUP HOLDER and a clip board holder. I know the engineers are gonna like that!
  10. Heres one of mine. It was really hard to choose because I have so many favorites but here it is... Taken at North White Plains a while ago. I love taking floor (platform) angled shots!
  11. Thats cool that you got to see the cab! are those pics online?
  12. I think you're right because if I owned Alstom I wouldn't spend money on a facility that is eventually gonna stop making R160s once the order is complete. So they must be doing other things there as well. They are using cab signaling similar or the same to the M7 I believe but it will also be programed to along Amtrak.
  13. On the history channel they said that the facility is dedicated to the R160 but idk
  14. Yes I believe so. Because they are carrying people, the MNRR must make sure everything works on the train. It's the same thing with the subway cars. Alstom(which produces the R160s) has their own testing facility somewhere in upstate NY where testing is done on every car that comes out of the factory. So the NYCTAs job is done for them already.
  15. (N)ot yet buddy. They go through months of testing just like the first pair that arrived on Christmas eve.
  16. Both ways are cool. But catenary lines allow trains to run at faster speeds than third rail. Thats why all highspeed trains (that are electric) run on catenary wires.
  17. Well why pay billions to add third rails when you already have the catenaries to use? The NEC is all catenary.
