What if... Due to a street collapse over the tunnel that connects Jamaica Yard to the mainline, no trains can come in or out of Jamaica Yard (it is 4 in the morning and rush hour is about to start).
Whaddya do?

Here's a hard one, I think. The Sea Beach has been neglected, and consequently the elevated structure just east of the New Utrecht Av station has collapsed. Unfortunately the structure has collapsed onto the near the 62nd St station. At the same time there is a smoke condition on the elevated portion of the 4th Av-9th St station on the from the Culver Viaduct project. Reroute away, and please do so without having more TPH than what the Brighton tracks can handle.
No trains between 9 Av and Bay Parkway.
No trains between 8 Av and Kings Hwy. Selected trains run via the tunnel to accommodate extra service.
10 additional tph operate between 57 St and Coney Island. These trains run through Coney Island, become trains, and run to Kings Hwy .
No trains between Bergen St and Church Av.

Or they could just order new rollsigns. I'm sure there some company in the tri-state area that still makes them.
Why spend the money if all that's necessary is to have some new trains on the line?

I thought we had discussed this in an earlier thread.
If you mean the running to Church Av part, then yes that is impossible and trains would have to turn at Kings Hwy.

What's the problem? The can all fit through the 60th St tunnel, so they can all fit through B'way Local as well.

The Broadway Express tracks are unusable from Canal St to 57 St, and the 6 Av ones are unusable from Grand St to 47/50 Sts. This should not be too hard. Reroute away. I don't care about the TPH, as long as people can get where they are goin.

The problem with these monstrosities is that it's not practical, since very few lines go anywhere useful in Manhattan and we know they will be JAMMED.

That may be too many trains on Queens Blvd.

The work at the Bleecker St Station has made it so no uptown local trains can pass by or stop at the station. Reroute the .

Timers are annoying in general IRL.
There's a problem with the timers though - one can turn green with the next one still being red.

Interesting:
Due to mechanical problems at Utica Av:
Downtown trains are terminating at Atlantic Av.
Some Downtown trains are terminating at 149 St and Bowling Green.
Downtown trains are running local between Atlantic Av and Franklin Av.
Please expect delays in both direction on and train service at this time.

Why give respect to someone that doesn't deserve it? I have standards, you have to earn my respect...
It's called simple decency involved with being on a public forum.
We've gone QUITE off topic, so:
NEXT
No trains may pass the lower level of 50 St/8 Av. No on one track, and no unrealistic or confusing changes.

There are also (as well noted in my other scenarios) switches at the Transit Museum, but that would require clearing a train out of the museum so trains can terminate at Hoyt-Schermhorn and use the TM station to turn in an emergency.
NO. That is NOT happening.

There's no point - Myrtle riders want Midtown and Brighton Express via tunnel won't work.

NEXT:
YMCMB is performing at MSG. Due to overcrowding, all stations under 34th Street except the Penn Railroad Station are closed.
This excluded 33rd Street on the . Reroute all other lines.
In reality, all trains would just bypass 34 St.
So:
Trains skip 34 St.

Reroute trains to maximize service through 60 St, 63 St, and Lex Av.

That's the cheap way out - the point is to expand transit options to an area that doesn't have them.

This thread is about rerouting trains for unplanned disruptions. And the point of having threads is staying on topic - or we might as well just have one big chat and post whatever we want there.

And all the time I was under the impression that the SAS was a replacement for the 2nd and 3rd Avenue Els. You know, the areas of Manhattan that lost rapid transit service years ago. Now the Lionel Loonies have decided to improve upon a concept before it's even completed. WOW. Run trains everywhere while forgetting the original plan.
