  1. First: how would the get from southbound 8 Av to the Manhattan Bridge? Second: how would the terminate at 21 St, with 15 tph- running through?
  2. That looks interesting. You said cannot terminate, not cannot pass, so here goes: No trains at 207 St - trains terminate at Dyckman St. Trains stop at 163 and 155 St. Rush hours and middays, trains run to Kingsbridge Road. Relay same way as . Suspended No trains between Kingsbridge Road and Norwood. Trains relay via Concourse Yard leads. Some trains extended to Lefferts Bl via . Other trains relay via single track north of Chambers St. To speed up service, a TO will board the end of the train at Canal St. In addition, trains skip 75 Av and Van Wyck Bl. No trains between Parsons Bl and 179 St. Trains extended to 169 St and 18 Av . Trains terminate at Queens Plaza. To speed up service, a TO will board the end of the train at Queens Plaza. Trains extended to 169 St . NEXT (Yet another) washout occurs. This time, 7 Av & 53 St is impassable. Affected: Rule: all lines in the outer boros must have the same tph to Manhattan as before.
  3. Arrive at Jay St, reverse, wrong-rail/single-track to Hoyt St, keep wrong-railing (but without getting in the way of Jay St-bound trains) to the stub track at Lafayette Av, switch to Queens-bound express track, resume service. Since you didn't post a scenario, NEXT Because of a washout, the Broadway Line is out of service at 23 St. Note that you must have all three Broadway services reach Midtown, and all lines in the outer boros must maintain the same level of service. Since this is a long-term change, you may be liberal with service changes. Use 6 and 8 Av to their full potentials.
  4. Suspended. Trains run in two sections: ......207 St to Chambers St. ......Jay St (Manhattan-bound track) to Queens, every 10 minutes. Jay St-bound trains run local between Euclid Av and Hoyt St. Queens-bound trains run local from Utica Av to Euclid Av. Additional service runs between B'way Junction and Queens. NEXT Because of a washout, the 8 Av line at 23 St must be taken out of service. Because this is a long-term service change, reroutes can be a bit more drastic than usual. However, NO Transit Museum use, wrong-side Nassau St use, etc.
  5. How would a train get from the bypass to the southbound Brighton?
  6. Brooklyn-bound trains run via the between 34 St and Dekalb Av. Brooklyn-bound trains run via the between Atlantic Av-Barclays and Coney Island, then via the to Brighton Beach.
  7. No trains between 96 St and 42 St. Trains run via the in Manhattan. No trains between 96 and 14 St. No trains between 125 St and 34 St. Service suspended. No trains between Chambers and 168 St. No trains between 125 St and 42 St. NEXT TIME: 8PM, weekday No northbound trains can pass the northbound platform at 34 St on the 6 Av line.
  8. Capacity is the issue, not even speed of service. And still, you can't compare 125 St 116 St 106 St 96 St 86 St 72 St 55 St 42 St to 125 St 86 St 59 St 42 St. The make fewer stops. Compromises don't work to well in this case.
  9. : Trains run in two sections ...............Bronx to 2 Av, via the between 59 and West 4 St. ...............West 4 St to Brooklyn. Trains run via the in both directions between Roosevelt Av and West 4 St. Trains run express between 34 St - Penn Station and Canal St. Extended to 21 St. NEXT TIME:8 PM, weekday Because of a police investigation, Union Square is impassable. The is unaffected, but must bypass the station.
  10. Why send the to such a faraway place? My solution: runs via the in both directions between 36 St, Queens and 47/50 Sts, Manhattan. NEXT THIS TAKES PLACE ON A WEEKEND. Because of a political convention and related overcrowding, the two Penn Station stations are unusable.
  11. No trains between 34 St and Brighton Beach. Trains run in two sections: ......205 St to 34 St. ......34 St to Coney Island, via the in Manhattan, every 10 minutes. Trains run via the between Dekalb Av and Canal St. Trains run via the between Dekalb Av and 57 St. No service south of Marcy Av - no point running a shuttle in Manhattan. No trains between 2 Av and Myrtle Av. Suspended NEXT Because of a smoke condition, no eastbound (Queens-bound or southbound ) trains can pass 7 Av.
  12. I think we should have a separate thread for foam competitions. ANYWAY... Both tracks on the TOP level of Queensboro Plaza N/Q/7 are unusable. Trains single-track through Queensboro Plaza. To accommodate this, some northbound trains terminate at 57 St. No trains north of 57 St. Some northbound trains terminate at 42 St. To avoid overcrowding the N, trains run in two sections: ......Main St to 74 St. ......74 St to Times Square, every 15-20 minutes, single-track between Hunterspoint and 33. NEXT Because of an incident at 23 St, the uptown local track is not usable. Please foam as much as possible.
  13. What machine never breaks down? The thing is that they break down less frequently than the older cars.
  14. NEXT Because of a switch malfunction, no southbound local trains can pass Grand Central .
  15. Yes, I meant the inner loop. As I said above, Rector St's single switch can't handle the 20 tph of the . Why would you break the ? The can terminate at Essex without obstructing the .
  16. You're right. NEXT The MTA decides to rebuild its worst stations from scratch. As a result, South Ferry , Chambers St , and 21 St are closed. Note that the SF loop can be used (not the loop station, but the tracks).
  17. The single switch south of Rector St would not be enough to handle 20tph service. And I suggested Brooklyn Bridge as that's cheaper for the MTA then sending the all the way to Flatbush Av.
  18. How would the turn around? What about the ? How would the turn around? How would New Lots handle the (I assume you mean 5, not 4)? And what would a shuttle accomplish? Passengers can take the 4/5 and transfer at 14th or Atlantic.
  19. The together is around 40 tph. Terminating the in Manhattan won't work, since the three lines will have to cross somewhere. Since this is a long-term service change, here's what I'd do: to New Lots Av local south of 42 St terminates at 14 St terminates at Brooklyn Bridge instead of Bowling Green weekends Runs local on Broadway to avoid switching Runs via the bridge. If the fit into the 60 St tunnel, they can fit onto the bridge.
  20. No trains between Kings Highway and Brighton Beach. No trains between Brighton Beach and Coney Island. No trains between Av X and Coney Island. NEXT Because of low-quality construction, South Ferry station floods. This affects both the new station and the loops. Affected:
  21. The diagram shows that no matter what, there would still be at least one path for trains to go through. Sure, it may block both regular and regular service, but it's not like no uptown local trains can move through the junction.
  22. And yet they have the lowest MBDF of any fleet in the system. As for 'real equipment': the MTA doesn't cater to foamers. You want some old cars that are about to fall apart, go to a transit museum. Let the MTA provide the equipment that works best for its passengers.
  23. Here's a screenshot from nycsubway.org: Just south of the station.
  24. I made it myself. But if you look at the nycsubway.org map, that's what it shows: http://images.nycsub...r_manhattan.png Yes, I realized that too late to change it. It's not really significant anyway.
