1. Checkmate not sure you been along Central Ave in Lower Westchester i.e Yonkers, Scardale and White Plains. Being fair if a resident lives near Central Ave it's could be as much as 3-4 miles from either the Hudson line i.e Yonkers-Getty Sq. or the Harlem line lower westchester stations. Not to mention many of the Lower Westchester MNRR stations have no or limited amount of parking during rush hours. The current Westchester County Exec (their version of a Boro President)want outright to kill the "4c." Only a strong pention saved weekday service. Keep in mind on why some riders use the Bee Line 4c.
2. I think after 3pm weekdays and around 5pm weekends(correct me if i wrong)The BXM11 skips the Bronx Zoo stop Wakefield bound already. And VG8. The BX12, and couple of bus line travel along Fordham/Pelham Pwy and Boston Rd anyhow to transfer to.
3. Here we go again. VG8 with his agenda lol. Here are my replies. And if you read my replies i told you this is minor cuts only on Sunday evenings i.e BXM3 and 9 with light ridership Midtown Bound. Also the cuts on weekend evenings BXM6 and BXM8 in which riders get more service with nearby routes the BXM7 and BXM 10. Plus BXM1 and BXM7 runs about a hour later on Monday-Saturday Nights. That where the ridership is.
4. Since i been 'quiet" on this boro I offer these suggestions on the manhattan express bus serving the Bronx and parts of City of Yonkers 1)BXM1-expand service until 2am (last bus leaving Manhattan) Monday Night(Tuesday AM)-Saturday Night (Sunday AM). 2)BXM3-End earlier Manhattan-bound express weekend service with last bus leaving Getty Sq. at 9pm Saturdays and 8pm Sundays. Last buses for Yonkers-bound service leaving manhattan remains the same. 3)Extend BXM4 to Yonkers Raceway via McClean and central Aves. Restores direct 1-seat weekend Manhattan express bus service to/from East Side of Yonkers. Also relives overcrowding on the BL-20/21 as well. 4)End Weekend BXM6 service. BXM10 re-routed weekend only to serve Parkchester. 5)BXM7 expands to run 22 hours a day with last bus leaving Mid Manhattan at 2am Monday(Tuesday Morning-Saturday night(early Sunday AM) and last bus leaving Coop City 1am. Sunday service remains the same. The BXM7 is the 2nd busiest NYC express bus routes and thus increase the hours to match the busiest the X1. 6)BXM8 weekend service ends earlier. Last bus leaving Pelham Bay bus Saturdays 8pm and Manhattan at 9pm. On Sundays last bus from Pelham Bay at 7pm and 23rd/Madison at 8pm. Last few BXM7's serves as replacements along the bruckner late evenings weekends. 7)BXM9 sunday service leaves Throgs neck ends earlier at 8pm. Bronx-bound service remains the same. I am suggesting the changes for BXM3, BXM6 and BXM9 for slight reductions since those trips often has zero ridership on those last trips on weekends. And increasing service on growing routes the BXM1 and BXM7. Reactions?
5. Since i remember the early days of Hip Hop most of you may laugh at this now. However this is a landmark song in both Hip Hop/POP Music history. In Sept. 1990, this became the 1st 'pure" modern (not counting Blondie's "Rapture" in 1981)rap song/single to ever hit #1 on the US charts. This is something this gentleman can claim that Run DMC, Sugarhill Gang, the Beastie Boys, Grandmaster Flash or even LL Cool J could never made. Famous for sampling David Bowie/Queen's hit single "Under Pressure."
6. Go get them Professor Trainmaster lol. What amazing is this former NYC subway Motorman is smarter than many college grads here in 2012.
7. Cough Cough feel free to place that DJ Khlaed in the music thread. Can we get back to any serious Queens bus proposals please?
8. Another oldies from a proud AARP member lol on the boards. Here one of my favorite Paul Simon songs of all time with a reggae-type song. Here his 1980 smash hot "Late in the Evening." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=57RIlznOpDM
9. You a teen VMW lol. You dont have to like it but 'respect" it. If you into Hip Hop respect Grandmaster Flash Sugarhill gang etc. Rock of course the Beatles, Elvis, Chuck Berry, etc. Hip-Hop Pop Justine Beriber, Katy Perry, Rhinna respect Micheal Jackson, Bee Gees, Madonna, Aretha Franklin etc. Honestly where does today music come from thin air? There a history from older artists so you should respect it.
10. Back to the damn music. Here a old school R&B/Disco classic that was played at many roller skates and BBQ's circa 1979/1980.
11. You only a teen VWM. Gotta to disagree on stating only '2' good British artists. Heard of the Rolling Stones? Elton John? Traffic/Steve Winwood? Billy Ocean?(though he was born in trindad) Duran Duran? Seal? Just touching the surface. There been some great UK artists over the years so you and JW are wrong to say that all British performers "suck." Sure there been some terrible ones. The point that JW makes on having more English speaking Asian and Indian performers on the US pop charts is another argument than his point that UK is overplayed.
12. I am not going to say "best presidents" but i comment on my 3 favorite presidents. the first is teddy roosevelt(breaking up the standard oil monoply and other business strong holds and of course "hero" of the 1898 Spanish-American War) The others being FDR and John Kennedy.
13. Can we say "British Invansion III" ? First in the mid 1960's then the mid 80's and now again in 2011-'12.
14. I know someone just posted this recently but what the hell. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ti3t7MAwaaM
15. The last one for the night from SL Bus. I am sure NYCtransitfan will like this. A late '80's smash from the band best known for Madonna begining her carrer with before going solo. "Breakfast club"(no not the movie) with "Right on Track." Still a good song IMO to listen in AM on train going to work or school. Later
16. Speaking of Robert Miles here is biggest hit to date. A smash from summer of 1996. Not much into techno but great song to say listen to drive on the highway or going on a cruise.
17. KTU is still playing '80's music? Wow. Thought they played dance/techo and hip hip pop from 2000 onwards. Hard to believe next in 2013 will be 30 years since that song debuted ('83) and was madonna 1st major top 40 hit.
18. The 1990's producing some of the greatest music? Since you a hardcore Metal fan, VG8 that true. IMO even though the '90's did produce some good music, it's a bit strong to call it the best. Heard of the `1950's i.e Elvis? '60's i.e Motown and the Beatles '70's Elton John, Springstein, Marley, R&B, Disco and punk rock i.e The clash Police? Or even the 1980's? i.e U2, Micheal Jackson, RUN DMC, Bon Jovi? Just be a bit more open minded VG8 in your music comments.
19. Well if you been to the south and midwest you would know country is huge. Places like Nashville has as many 3-4 full time country stations. So there a world outside of NYC lol. And NYCtrainfan i thought you 55 years of age lol? Joking. Seriously yes there 19 years old who prefer '70's/'80's classics. Just making point that the *average* 19-21 year old in NYC or most of America's bigger cities prefer Hip-Hop according to these stats.
20. Actually Newark/Journal Sq. riders already has 1-2 daily trips to/from AC on a sub branch of the 319. If you suggesting to add maybe 1-2 more trips on the weekend(right now it's 1 trip each way Saturday/Sundays)then that makes more sense. Plus riders can transfer to either the 559 (Route 9 local) or 319 "express" to/from AC. And why Q23 you refuse to being honest and just admit you never been on that part of NJ Transit? It's no shame you only a teen. My 1st trip to AC was when i was 20 years of age. Instead of extending the #67 down to AC a better idea during the summer is to extend to nearby Seaside Heights (Hello TV show "Jersey Shore" lol )instead. Currently there very limited service between North Jersey/NYC and Seaside so that a better option imo.
21. VG8 little behind the times lol. If you asked teens/young adults ages 15-21, Rap/Hip-Hop is now the #1 prefered music genre in America. Second is country and Third is Rock N Roll. Thus that why in almost all big cities in US, there at least 2 or more "Rap" or Hip Hop Pop i.e Kelly Clarkson, Rhinna, Chris Brown, Katy Perry etc. radio stations. And 20th Century-oriented R&B iand Rock s slowly dying. That a reason majority of the members on the boards ages 25 and under, White Black and Latino love it. Only reason i have a "clue" myself is because last few years I been working with teens as a Teaching Asst./Sub Teacher.
22. A really old school late 1980's classic. From the 1980's this samples an old James Brown song.
23. I dont think the(MTA) would appprove since it parrels the M5 and M7 routes. Better off making the M7 a limited. With that this is merged with the Manhattan Bus Proposal Thread.
