  1. Wonders why limited stop buses in Staten Island have to be numbered differently from their local counterparts. In the four other boroughs limited routes are numbered the same as their corresponding local routes and it's not like riders really benefit from a number difference. From a riders standpoint locals and limiteds follow the same route pattern, the only difference is the stops themselves.
  2. Tune in to Z100 or 103.5 KTU for all of the latest hits. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ti3t7MAwaaM
  3. I saw a pass 23rd Street yesterday afternoon where the 3rd car was totally empty and every other car was SRO. How on earth does that happen?
  4. What the hell are you thinking by merging the Bx23 and Bx4? Name one person that takes a Bx23 to ultimately seek the Bx4.Next up no limited service is needed among the Bx28/38. It gets crowded at times but it's not that bad also there are issues of headway to be dealt with. Last but not least the Bx29 is fine as is. If Bx5 riders want to go to City Island, which I doubt they do, just extend the route without sacrificing the Bx29. A one seater from Co-op City to City Island should not be taken away for the sake of the sorry Bx5.
  5. As far as my plan goes this "decision" you speak of wouldn't be based on "importance". I would base it on what these riders prefer for their route. The MTA can do a study and figure out if a particular area would rather have the coverage provided by it's current Madison/5 Av service or would rather not deal with the delays associated with the traffic. At the end of the day (we're ignoring the M5 in this discussion) 2 routes would become the "feeders" and gain better reliability north of Central Park. The other 2 keep their service pattern except with higher frequency. The higher frequency will make minimize the impact of delays on the those routes. This is Manhattan here, coverage (the only thing being sacrificed) isn't a huge issue.
  6. When I was thinking about a Madison/5 Av overhaul I was thinking more about a streamlining effort than playing with the routes themselves. The M1,2,3,4 are incredibly redundant between 110th and 34th Street so why not run them as if they are one route? In other words, the MTA should pick one of those routes to prioritize and make sure that one gets artics, lower headways, and possibly +SBS in the future. The others would just be supplements and feeders to the corridor itself.
  7. Something has to be done about the unreliability of Madison/5 Av routes. Combined those routes would be the busiest in the city and have to deal with way too much traffic in Midtown along those streets. Among the M1,2,3,4 and 5 an overhaul is needed. I would like to see what anyone can come up with.
  8. Gotye's song "Somebody That I Used To Know" featuring Kimbra scores a second straight week at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. It is charted among the top songs in the country for rock, pop, radio airplay and digital downloads. It is also #1 in France and Canada. Here is the rest of this weeks Billboard Top 10 #2 Fun.- We Are Young (#2 for the second week after 6 weeks at #1) #3 Maroon 5 ft Wiz Khalifa- Payphone (Solid debut helped by being #1 in digital sales) #4 Justin Bieber- Boyfriend (moves up from #5 last week) #5 The Wanted- Glad You Came (scores another week in the Top 5, peaked at #3) #6 Flo Rida ft Sia- Wild Ones (my personal favorite) #7 Carly Rae Jepsen- Call Me Maybe (#1 song in the U.K.) #8 One Direction- What Makes You Beautiful (falls from it's peak of #4) #9 Nicki Minaj- Starships (drops 2 spots from last week) #10 Kelly Clarkson- Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You) 18th week on the Hot 100 charts
  9. Bx23 took 2 minutes to get to PBP from Bartow/Edson this morning. Now that's a bus ride
  10. some G.O's dont make sense. How can you have no (5) service between 180 st and 149th-GC because of construction and still run the (2) through that area?

The (5) is cut so there wouldn't be too many trains passing along the right of way where MOW is at. It increases the headways along the WPR Southern portion. If the (5) were running, there would be (2)s and (5)s back to back, which will cause delays and the workers to stop and resume back and forth too quickly. Plus cause the (2/5)s to stop and stay, when required.

Sometimes the (5) will run, if the G.O. is just minor, but delays are still possible.

  11. I guess a 9-0 deficit can't stop the power of the Yankees :)

      Grand Concourse

nope, and this is a good way to avenge the lop sided loss season to Boston last year. had the Yankees at least evened the record, Boston would've never been in the WC on the last day of the year.

  13. Recap of this morning's commute: Waited 0 minutes for Bx12 +SBS, train left PBP 2 minutes after I got on, Waited about 1 minute, maybe less for the at 125th Street and had time to kill so I got on the at Lex Av-59th and waited 0 minutes for that. Now that's winning!!!!
  14. My Bx12 +SBS this morning was literally EMPTY when I got on at Bartow/Edson going towards PBP. That's quite shocking being that it did start from the usual terminal at Bay Plaza. When it left PBP nearly all of the seats were taken. Now that's something.
  15. Is trying to think of the last time he had to wait longer than 8 minutes for a bus. Being that the MTA has been really nice to me lately, that would honestly have to be either November or December of last year.
  16. I have always been impressed with Dallas BBQ's. Good food and incredibly fast service.
  17. Contributed to the ridership of the line this weekend. One of the very few times I'll use the subway on weekends. These G/O's and bad headways annoy me.
  18. These changes are NOT needed at all. The North Bronx routes do their jobs and the Bronx is quite subway dependent unless you're trying to go east-west which is why you have routes like the Bx12, 36 and 40/42. Bronx buses do their job as far as getting their riders to the respective subway lines they serve. The only real changes some routes could benefit from are lower headways or roomier buses in the case of one Bx12 +SBS.
  19. thank you for riding with boredom

  20. I spotted 5841 on the M23 +SBS this afternoon. lol On a serious note the bus was flashing the blue lights used on the front of +SBS buses. Makes me wonder where the MJQ LSFA troupe could be going
  21. The was surprisingly fast this morning. Usually the Lex Av Express runs at what I deem 'rush hour speed' where it starts running slow between 86th St and 59th St in the morning. It can take 20 minutes to get from 125th to 42nd at 'rush hour speed'. Today the did it in just over 10 minutes running very smoothly between 86th and 59th. It made me wonder if there were as many (4)/(5) trains as there should have been this morning.
