  1. Interesting sights this afternoon, 7609 on the 132 and 7781 on the 137.
  2. They run the dogshit outta that bus. I see that bus everyday on the 319.....I would love to know how many miles it has on it. EHG 7100s must have the highest miles of that fleet.
  3. Has anybody seen DeCamp's 8430? I haven't seen it since it ended up on the jersey barrier on Rt. 3 last year.
  4. Saw 7409 pull in on the 139 this morning. That sucker looks worn out!
  5. Thanks, always wanted to know how that worked, I could never figure that one worked. Must be aggrivating in the morning, quite sure the people who don't want to wait for the 7 try and flag down the 5.
  6. Anybody got any idea how the 165R routing works? The schedule says it runs Rt. 4 to Margaret St but how does it get to the Turnpike? Teaneck Rd? I don't think that is much faster than just getting on I-80 on Hudson St and running in that way.
  7. I'm gonna take you up on that! It will be interesting to see how they hold up. I think this will be the first time the CTHs will be in heavy use, all the other transit properties just use them for rush hour service.
  8. Well not until the holidays when they need to run everything on the extras. Although I wonder if that long a run time is too much for the hybrid system. They should just get diesels with lavs for the 319.
  9. Anybody know what's going on with Galvin Lot? Since the "Experiment" started its been virtually empty.
  10. The most you are gonna see on those buses are the "Hybrid-Electric" decals on it. What you see with 7278 is our future, in 40 and 45 ft form. From a driver standpoing the Hybrids are nice buses, lots of takeoff power (even more than the original 7100s) and they run great except for climbing hills. They don't like hills.....at all! The Egg Harbor guys are gonna have fun on climbing the Driscoll bridge on the 319 with a full load. And when they break expect to loose them to the vendor for a long time. I had 70281 for my pool bus when I was doing Exit 14 and I got a "Hybrid Fault Light" and the bus was at HO Penn for 2 months getting worked on. Other than that I can't wait for them to come in......I'll definatly be hitting up South Jersey for that ride.
  11. The only reason why the D4000Hs are rush hour only is because their reliability is crap. There was one out late a couple days ago on the 116 but that is very rare.
  12. Meadowlands and Howell help out on the 111 during the AM Rush. PMs sees the addition of Greenville helping. Sometimes other garages help too. A friend of mine at Fairview has gone to JG in the morning after his run....and Wayne has helped too. Interestly enough Wayne helped on the 126 tonight with 7886. I'm sure the 126 will see all kinds of help until the PATH gets restored.
  13. I saw 7278 in person for the first time this morning. You guys take great pics but they don't do that bus any justice! She looks great.......even with the new headlights! I will say they do need to put the big logo on the front of that bus but otherwise it looks like a great bus!
  14. First off you can't say that people move to NJ to keep their kids from growing up around "ethnic" people. People move out of NYC for Upstate NY,NJ and PA because you can get more bang for your buck housing wise. I don't know about you but I want my kids to have a yard and other things that I had when I grew up. That being said....the majority of the folks realize what there commute is gonna be. The bitching is because they are constantly pushed onto mass transit and the system can't cope with the ridership. Somebody's bus hiccups its a 45 min delay in the bus lane. Its even worse on the trains.....and don't get me started we the buses get diverted to Secaucus Jct or Newark Penn! The folks have a legitimate beef. The PA is spending 90 million dollars on painting and making the Port tolerable while people wait. Why don't they spend that money fixing why the folks have to wait.
  15. The guy I rode home with said in the AMs you can have 3 full tturnovers of passengers between the Port and Westwood. And I can see that the construction in Little Ferry can be a PITA. On Mondays when I have to report to the Port in the morning I don't take the 151T anymore because the traffic kills that bus.....I just get on the 161 and deal with the crush load. I knew you guys worked hard in Oradell, just didn't realize how hard. That is definitely the garage I want to work at!
  16. Took the 165 home tonight. Totally forgot it was an alternative to get me home....much better walk than from the 163. I have to say I was shocked that at 1220a, 2 165s and 2 166s went down Blvd East with full seated and standing loads. My bus pretty much was empty by the time we got to 46. The Oradell drivers seem like a good bunch.....great teamwork working the stops on the Boulevard. I'll have to take the 165 more often.
  17. In other 7100 news, 7133 broken down on the 167 on the turnpike.
  18. The CATs are the worse possible engine for the type of highway and stop and go service that NJT does. Add to the fact that NJT keeps messing with the buses doesn't help things either. At least they know its a problem and the re-engineing should happen once the new CNGs come in.
  19. Talking some more to my friend at Wayne the 7100s are supposed to get a midlife overhaul once Howell gets their CNGs and MCI shortage eases. The bigwigs apparently are aware of the issues with the buses and they are looking at changing out the CATs with Cummins. The 7100s are very high mileage for their age so even with the midlife/reengining expect to see the older CLs more at night and weekends. Wayne is supposed to have all operable 45 footers out on the weekends so having the 40s out there is causing some overcrowding on the Willowbrook and Paterson lines
  20. 553, even Wayne is having issues. I was told their superintendent said no 7100s on the 196/197 and not on the late and overnight runs either.
  21. So 7407 showed up on the 319 tonight. Where's all the 7100s?
  22. Wayne might have the room for more buses but they are struggling to make full service Monday-Friday. There are issues with the maintenance department and until they deal with those internal issues I don't see any lines or buses being transferred. And you have to remember that NJT will have a problem when Rockland finally winds down Oradell might be tasked with taking some of those lines.
  23. Howell has been doing AM inbound trips on the 116 for a couple of months now. Also been seeing them regularly on the 111 also. The CNGs are getting a workout.....just about every inbound 308 last night was a CNG. Ironbound must still be having manpower problems, I haven't seen much of them on the 308 this summer. And the DesignLine's have been staying out late. I see one on the 137 leaving around 10pmish.
  24. That might have been Howell. I know they have a couple of AM trippers on the 116.
