  1. And even when these e-bikes/scooters aren't being used, they seem to constantly catch on fire and burn down buildings! And I've been hearing that a lot of drug dealers like to use them because they are very hard to track/trace. What a mess.
  2. Will MTA Bus exp buses be on a regular weekday schedule on Juneteenth? I haven't seen any emails about it
  3. Yup, I was thinking to addend my post that the people who benefit most are already inside the city zone and want a better way into Manhattan to catch MNRR or LIRR Do you find that LIRR is frequent enough to match your schedule? That's always been the issue for me (and also the time it would take me to get to an LIRR station in Queens)
  4. I'll be curious to see stats on how many combo tickets are sold in a year or so. I'm still not convinced there is much of a market for it, unless the MTA really advertises it well to convince people to take special trips this way. I can't see many people using it for Mon-Fri workweek travel to and from their jobs.
  5. The express bus passengers at CP are definitely nothing like that. And they deal with the same traffic as all the other B/Os
  6. VG8 has posted that the union boss at CP is a particularly nasty piece of sh*t and sets the tone of "these passengers should be lucky we show up at all, and keep their whiny mouths shut." With leadership like that, what else can you expect from the B/Os? The dispatchers I've interacted with from CP are very nice, but then again, those are the ones who actually show up and choose to be in the public eye. Who knows what else goes on behind "closed doors"
  7. The quality went way down during covid. Used to be a few isolated bad apples, then it spread to at least a third of the BOs IMHO
  8. Im curious about something...when I take the (E), I see the signals show green or yellow over green until the train is approaching, and then they switch to flashing green. Is there a reason for that setup, rather than having it just flash green the entire time?
  9. That's hilarious. Maybe the B/O will make a detour and drive everyone to the party
  10. There are a few CP B/Os who have their bus radios tuned to some strange channel where all you hear is people yelling in spanish, making bird noises, singing (I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried). At first I thought it was a personal radio or something, but it definitely is coming out of the loudspeakers. All the other B/Os have the usual channel where I only hear Command talk about detours or other official business. Anyone know what the hell that is? One B/O, who is real a**hole, keeps the radio on quite loud, and these people don't shut up, so I need to sit in the back so I don't hear the nonsense and can sleep.
  11. I was reading the below article about the migrant crisis in NYC, and I see in the pics that they are using MTA buses to transport them (and presumably MTA BOs). I wonder how that is being paid for/managed https://hudsonvalleypost.com/chaos-new-york-city-migrants-sent-to-another-upstate-new-york-county/
  12. Yup, the paper tickets are great because you can keep them each time the CR is too lazy to come around and collect it lol
  13. Oh wow...that article really shows "how the sausage is being made" so to speak. Only a dozen full-time employees on this massive project?? Damn.
  14. Yeah, and they are still having B/O's collecting coins on their routes lol...the MTA could do all sorts of things with OMNY promotions and so forth
  15. I think the MTA broadly could benefit from more creative collaboration with public events, spaces, etc and have some mutually beneficial cross-promotion...the site gets advertised, and the MTA gets more customers (especially on their more expensive, underused modes of transit). I've seen more efforts at this in the past few years, but there is a lot more room for growth.
  16. Funny enough, I was just talking with someone who lives in west hempstead and she was saying that she purposely takes the long walk to one of the Hempstead stations as her exercise, and when her neighbors pass her while she is walking, they offer her a ride and look at her like she's crazy when she says she wants the long walk LOL. I think she lives on the edge of west hempstead so it isn't such a crazy long walk
  17. Any word on express bus unlimited pass getting programmed into OMNY? At this point, I'm going to probably change jobs and not need it anyway past the fall, so I'll switch to OMNY for PPR after that
  18. I have to say, I really like having the private security guards at Union Tpke station. They really do seem to be preventing farebeating by blocking the emergency exit door, and the sketchy weirdos have mostly disappeared. And they successfully cleared out the homeless lady who had been living on the staircase by the court house stairs for years.
  19. When you say the West Hempstead branch runs like sh*t, do you just mean it has bad headways, or also lots of late/missing trips, etc? Also, thank you to you and@danielhg121, I used City Ticket through the app for Penn-->Forest Hills today. The conductor definitely gave me a second look when I showed the ticket, but then moved on. I knew what to say to him if he gave me a hassle
