  1. From the looks of it, the latest ESI's are not nearly as nice as the originals; they seem half-done.
  2. Announcements are down the drain because PA checks are not being done anymore--on the new techs, at least. I can count on one hand how many times one's done in about a week's worth of riding, and most of the time, it's none.
  3. I saw a six-car M9 roll by my window about an hour and a half ago, going east towards Locust Manor. I just happened to look up since it sounded pretty much like an M7.
  4. Fare-beaters are going to fare-beat no matter what measure we take. Might as well have an aesthetically pleasing station for everyone else.
  5. No way these cars are traveling in single sets, right?
  6. Yeah, the crowds for that split are ridiculous; not an enjoyable thing.
  7. Can the M7s be programmed to display what car in the consist you're in?
  8. Yeah, those tiles are like new, no need to replace them. I'm pretty sure we'll notice the difference when they open back up.
  9. No need. Coney Island takes the best care of cars. They'll fix em up. Just look at their R160 end windows, as compared to Jamaica's.
  10. Is that yellow wall for sound proofing, kind of like how some Long Island highways have high wooden walls?
  11. I saw a train heading to Queens at 7 Av/53 St because of this. I had to find a different way to the Bronx.
  12. It's hard for me to believe that 3010-3019 are still have issues when they're the 179's with the most milage; IINM, they were delivered first. My theory is that they're being used to conduct a wide range of test...
  13. So what I'm getting here is that instead of having new station entrances on the opposite corner of a building an entrance is already on, and another in the middle of a commercial strip, the opposing residents want to compromise by having the entrances further away in more inconvenient places (one that's way more residential at 70th Street); makes no sense to me.
  14. I'm all for these station enhancements. If I've got to spend time waiting for my train, I at least want to spend it waiting in something that's clean, nice looking, and modern, instead of a station that looks like the MTA forgot existed.
  15. I think the does need to be full length. The reason why the first and last car are always crowded is because of the people that had to run when they learned they were out of range. It's also frustrating to have to do that for a train you were waiting for. It also does get pretty heavy ridership in the morning rush towards Manhattan.
  16. How do trains relay at 161 Street during Fastrack, seeing as how they're not skipping 155 St-8 Av in either direction?
  17. I actually like the mezzanines. I think their point is to get people off the platform as quickly as possible. You'd rather have people waiting on the platform, as opposed to moving around looking for a particular exit--with the potential to bump into each other. Sometimes people are more focused on way-finding than watching where they're going--especially when not familiar with your surroundings. Lexington Ave/59 Street during peak time is a perfect example of what conditions a mezzanine alleviates. That station's kind of dangerous during peak times. Passing people by near the edge of the platform is unavoidable in some spots. It's not a very comfortable situation.
  18. Is that because that's the side you can't see at the time? And is there anything that keeps conductors from opening that side by accident?
  19. Okay, thanks. I didn't know that. Lol People will do anything these days...
  20. Why have half the handles on the end-car doors been removed on the NTT's, again?
  21. Doesn't smaller sets require more A-cars, thus making the order more expensive?
  22. The wasn't standing room only during rush-hours. That tells you how many people rode that line. I'm glad they discontinued it.
