I don't think the MTA would be so shortsighted as to order mostly 4-car sets that can only be used on one line. They'd wind up with a lot of Eastern Division extras. Plus, they would be a hassle in swapping with the (or any other 600' line for that matter), if need be. I think the reason they ordered the amount they did is that they're going to keep the R32's until R211 time (2015-18). I figure they learned from the mass overscraping they just executed on the older cars. Once the 179's roll in they'll be able to put together 10-car sets of 32's; having enough spares to do so. I'll speculate and say that the 179's will go to Jamaica to make it all NTT, which will push the 46's to 207th. I figure the will be R32/46 full length come 2015.

Until I officially hear otherwise, I'll just assume: (26) 5-car sets and 4-car sets. Replacing the with 8-car R179's would be so unflexible. Those cars wouldn't be able to run anywhere else outside of the Eastern Division. That doesn't even make sense.

Umm..the J/Z can't run 50 R179's. They're in 4-car sets

I hear that R32 (and 42) part, but the thing that gets me is we should be getting new cars by now. The oldest R44's hit 40 last year. They're now 39-41 years old.

I don't have problem with old cars, I just have a problem with really old cars that are still in the system, years past their 40-year life span. They're way out-dated; brand new full-length NTT's are in order.

I think it's 2 a-cars as the cab cars, 3 b-cars in between those, and 1 c-car in between all that somewhere. A-C-B-B-B-A, perhaps...

OK, but what about the area where the cab is open for people to walk through the cars? Are those windows locked?
