I recently went down to 180 Livingston. They did say there was gonna be another class. They are waiting for dates so they can start calling for more candidates.

It was speculated that there's going to be another 4 to 5 classes for sure. They're about to put in a new foreman class at the end of February so they'll open up even more jobs.

Anyone know how big the January 8 class is? I saw a bunch of them at Coney Island Yard doing OJT.

New test date is up, so whoever is having DCAS issues better get it straightened out.  This one is close to the end.

Nope, not even close. This list has a minimum of 2 more years. From the date you file for the exam to the date you actually take the test is probably going to be about three to four months, after the final protest session it's going to be a minimum of 1 year before they'll release the list.

Thanks, your reply is very helpful. How are the assignments given, in other words what determines what truck your assigned to for the day? Is it also based on seniority? If you have a Class with the proper endorsements will you generally get a trailer or dump truck?

Assignments are given at the discretion of supervision, usually based on seniority.

do you need a nys license or does out of state qualifies ?

If you have your class A from NY/NJ/CT/PA you'll be fine. If you have your permit from anything other then NY then you won't be able to come because when they send you to their school for training you need a NY license.

Anyone know what Class A endorsements are needed for fleet? Thanks..

I'm in fleet, if you have any other questions I can try an answer them.

    Class A permit with Hazmat/Tank/Tow

They'll take you with just a Class A Permit and a B license and give you some time to get the endorsements.

Types of trucks we drive are Roll Off Containers (Class B), Car Carriers (Class B), Fuel Truck (Class B)

Tractor Trailer (Class A), Dump Trailer (Class A), Low Boy (Class A), Landoll (Class A), Heavy Wrecker (Class A)

Will find out Wednesday. God willing. Will post on here if I get it or not when I’m done. This is a crazy long process. I’m just curious do they do background checks at final processing or do they do that in the beginning?

Background check started once you got called for processing, and it ends when you retire.

How high are the heights they have you at? I go in on Wednesday for final processing. So hopefully I get it. They have a website for the boots they want you to wear?

Look at most of the structures, my recommendation is to go days, you'll get used to the structure.

Does anyone know what the T/W Chauffer job entails?

If you're looking at the Linden Shop spots it's part of fleet operations. You need at a minimum to get in a Class B license with a Class A permit with the following endorsements, A. Hazmat/Tank B. Tow Truck

If you're looking at Capital/Maintenance you just need a B permit to get in and all they do is drive the tool trucks to the job sites.

They changed the parameters of the exam a week before the exam date. The scoring criteria were overhauled and changed to something completely different from all past exams.
Normally exams are 80 questions, where you need to score at least 70% to pass. With the TSS exam, they changed it to 101 questions and made 3 separately scored portions.
You had to pass part 1 in order to qualify to score part 2, then you had to pass parts 1 and 2 to have your essay scored.
At any point, if you failed part 1 or 2, you failed the whole test.
The first part of the exam was technical knowledge of the trains, system, and rules. However, the second part is where people are upset, it was more like a test for current TSS’ instead of TO’s trying to become TSS’.

Edit: Also, they had people taking the exam a whole week after the first two test days. The exam questions were almost all the same, just in different order, so people with friends who took the test before them had the heads up on a lot of questions.

The M.S Exam for Track was also set up in this new format. 101 questions with a G2 being the essay, wouldn't surprise me if that's the new criteria going forward on all supervisor exams.

Someone posted two post back that they had called the employment center and they said they called up to #3050 for pre employment. That was in November, so not sure how far they may have gotten by now. List is set to expire 2024, and maybe get a extension. Will have to see and remain positive

It'll 100% get an extension, they haven't even announced a new exam.

You don't deserve it. You "earned" it. Are you guys all sure you passed the opa to read and understand English?

I don't think anyone even earned this job. You pass a common sense test, get a score, and if you scored the same along with thousands of others your list number is determined either by filing date or social security number, doesn't sound like you earned anything.

Must've failed my OPA, explains why I'm in track.

Nobody deserves anything. You get what you earn.

Why does the guy who got a 90 on a test seven years ago deserve more chance than a guy who might get a 105 on it now? Are the candidates from 2016 better people than the candidates coming 2023? C'mon

6061 is still going because a high number of people died from covid, moved, retired due to covid, found better jobs or otherwise no longer qualify. This list should have been wrapped up a while ago.

IMO, anyone getting in off a list more than 5 years later is due to luck and circumstance, nothing more.

What are you on about, Anyone who passed the test is eligible to be hired for this job. I scored a 95 on this test and I ended up with a list number close to the 5000s, are you saying I didn't deserve the opportunity to get appointed?

So true. I’m in the Bronx now training. Started OJT Monday. It’s amazing. I am loving it so far. Learning sooo much already

Have they given you your seniority numbers? If you don't mind me asking what range are you in, if you want to PM it to me that's fine.

Well can we get our own that’s not on the list ? Kinda don’t want any other ones and I don’t mind paying for it but if not I’ll just rock xrds and swhich off every 6 months

You need your superintendent to approve it and send all necessary documents to system safety.

Anyone know if capital nights are good? Is it a lot of work ? I hear that’s for the young guys

Depends if you like overtime. Capital Nights is the main money maker in track, followed by Capital Days.

Personally, I never worked nights and will do my damn best to avoid it at all costs, it's a unhealthy environment and long term will kill you.
