  1. I agree 100%. And with the fact that the list for Exam 2613 consists of only 299 names, I wonder how fast they will produce the list for Exam 2614. Just wait for a phone call and/or e-mail. If you try to call them, you will just be wasting your time.
  2. Yes I do! My apologies for the delay, however the list for Exam # 2613 has been published. Unfortunately, the list only consists of 299 people. Although I believe you 100%, I just find this "interesting" because, according to this webpage, the last Certification for the title of "Bus Operator" was this past February. Interesting...
  3. First of all, welcome to the Forums! Second, to answer your question, only time will tell. Hopefully the Examinations Unit will post the exam schedule for the second half of 2023 soon, and then we will take it from there. After all, the amount of names from Exam # 6601 consists of about 32,000 people, so even if they move the application period for this examination back a month or two, as they say, it's better to be safe rather than be sorry.
  4. In the event anyone is interested... Good luck!!
  5. First of all, welcome to the Forums! Second, if you look at the left hand side of this webpage, depending on what depot you want to work out of, the title of "Bus Operator" falls under one of three categories: NYC Transit, MaBSTOA and MTA Bus Company. Unfortunately, the next exam for NYC Transit is not going to be for a while. This time last year, according to the second page of this PDF document, the agency administered five [5] different examinations for NYC Transit, in which a thread/topic has been created, which you can view here. As far as MaBSTOA and MTA Bus Company is concerned, to my knowledge, there has not been an exam in the last couple of years. If I was you, keep an eye out on this webpage. As soon as there is going to be a "new" exam for either NYC Transit, MaBSTOA and/or MTA Bus Company, it will be posted on the MTA's website. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Other than that, welcome to the Forums!
  6. You're welcome! If anything, the Notice of Examination (NOE) for the Promotional examination was just published. If you look at page three of the PDF document, you will see a list of items that will be on their examination, which will probably be on the Open-Competitive one as well. From prior experience, most people screw up on the "Short term memorization" section.
  7. To make a long story short: There are a couple of introduction chapters, and then there is a chapter which contains the practice test for Train Operator (Promotion), another chapter for Train Operator (Open-Competitive), Conductor (Promotion) and Conductor (Open-Competitive). The introduction chapters are important to read, especially if this is the first civil service examination that you are taking.
  8. I just sent you another e-mail message. Let me know if you received it.
  9. Although the Notice of Examination (NOE) is not going to be posted until June, as per this website, one of the things which I would strongly recommend is to look at the prior NOE, which can be found here. If you carefully look towards the bottom of page four of the PDF document, you will see the things that they asked on the last Civil Service Exam back in 2016. There isn't a "manual" to read, however one of the books which I would recommend using as a "study tool" is titled Surfing Through New York Transit Exams: Train Operator - Conductor, For Open Competitive and Promotional Exams. What's nice is that the book was copyrighted in 2019, and is very similar to the last Open-Competitive Conductor Examination that I took. In addition, the format of the practice examinations that are in this book are very similar to the last Bus Operator examinations that I took as well. As a word of warning, I would stay away from those green and yellow or blue and white "passbooks." Although I borrowed one or two of these out of my local library to save money, since the questions were so outdated, I returned it and I haven't looked at another one of these "passbooks" ever since.
  10. K. I just sent you a reply from my Yahoo e-mail address. I put "Young from Transit Forums" in the subject line.
  11. My apologies for the late reply, however have you considered checking out this sleep study place in Brooklyn? I just called, it costs approximately $840, and all they need is a referral from your Primary Care Physician (PCP). You will get the results in approximately a week after the study from them directly. They are pretty booked up, so you might have to wait a while before you actually get to do the study. In the event the URL link breaks, here is the information: Dr. Kala Sury Md sleep center 270 9th st Brooklyn, NY 11215 Between 4th & 5th ave (718) 965 0708 Good luck!!
  12. If you look at the information within the blue announcement box at the top of the webpage, the list for Exam 2612 was published this past February, which consists of 423 candidates. If you look at the Civil Service List Certification webpage, by typing "Bus Operator" into the search box, the last certification was back on February 3rd. Therefore, to my knowledge, they did not call people from 2612 yet, and the list for Exam 2613 has not been published yet. In addition, if you look at the top of this webpage, as of March 13th, NYC Transit suspended the COVID-19 vaccine requirement. Therefore, since there are other Bus Operator lists that are still active before these specific examinations were even announced, such as Exam 4600, 7612, 9604 and 9618, if I had to take an educated guess, it's going to be a while before the list for Exam 2613 gets published. As far as calling people off of Exam 2612, it depends on who successfully completes the entire hiring process from the previous Civil Service Examinations, in addition to passing the 10-Day Bus Operator Training Session out of Zerega.
  13. Since you're a new member, you probably and most likely do not have access to Private Messaging yet. Therefore, although it seems that you've been screwed by Zerega and Livingston Street, who's not interested in hearing your plea whatsoever, if you wish to complain about this, send me an e-mail (nyctransitforums@myyahoo.com). I'll try to help you out via e-mail to the fullest extent possible. Thanks.
  14. Click here. They are very rare, but they do happen as necessary. Good luck!!
  15. First of all, welcome to the Forums! Second, have you considered complaining about this in one capacity or another? Let me know. Although you may not have "Private Messaging" (PM) enabled yet, I'm sure we can work something out.
  16. First of all, as per the guidelines, can you please "post in the relevant thread," which can be found here? I'm going to leave this one open in an effort to help you, however, if you can please follow the guidelines going forward, we would appreciate it. Second, you are referring to your initial visit in April of 2022, not April of 2023, correct? If so, is your name still active on the Civil Service List Certification webpage? (Hint: Type your last name into the search box, and see if it's included in the last certification which was dated February 27th, 2023.) Third, although you recently joined the Forums, do you have access to Private Messaging (PM) or no? (Try to click on the "bubble" icon towards the top right hand side of the screen.) I can help you out more there, respectively. -Young (P.S. - For my followers, I tried giving up the Forums for Lent, which is why I was more or less absent for the past two months, respectfully.)
  17. If you click here, and you type in "Bus Operator" into the search box, you will see that for Exam #2611, they are up to list number 140. However, keep in mind that 150 people have first preference from the prior civil service lists (4600, 7612, 9604 and 9618) respectively. Good luck!!
  18. @Henny, if you can please do all of us a favor and be mindful of how lengthy you make your posts, I would appreciate it. Now don't get me wrong - if you have a lot of information to share, such as the handouts, videos and/or a lengthy detailed description of the 10-Day Training Process, feel free to use as much space as possible. However, as I was editing your post, with the fact that I had to delete several unnecessary blank lines from your post, going forward, if you can please keep this in mind, it would be truly appreciated. Thank you.
  19. Done. Unfortunately, this is not how this works. As an example outside of Transit and/or the MTA, back in 2018, I took the Motor Vehicle Operator exam for DCAS. If you click here and type in either exam number, as of this typing, you will see that none of these lists are established. Good luck @Mark R!!
  20. Not only on this Forum website, but on other Forum websites as well, this is not possible. The only way is to "abandon" your account. In other words: Have a good one!!
  21. My apologies for briefly going off-topic, however this is also the case in the private sector as well. If you play around with indeed.com with either "Bus Driver" or "Bus Operator," followed by your zip code, you will see that there is a constant need for drivers in the private sector. Even some bus companies, such as Guardian Bus Company in Long Island, are willing to help you obtain your CDL (Commercial Drivers License) using their buses. Nice, right?
  22. As per the guidelines, if you can please post in the relevant forum, which can be found here, it would be truly appreciated. To answer your question from my perspective: The Oral Proficiency Assessment (OPA) is split into two parts. For the first part, you will be in a classroom listening to a recording from a CD player, in which you will be asked to answer a few questions shortly after the recording. As previously suggested, if you close your eyes and pay careful attention to the recording, you should pass with no problem. For the second part, you will be called into a room with a Train Service Supervisor (TSS) and someone else from the Examinations Unit. You will be shown a series of pictures and asked "What to do" if you were the Conductor at the time. Unless you are not 100% familiar and/or fluent with the English language, you should pass with no problem. Good luck!!
  23. That is actually standard. I have a true story to share: Back on July 3rd, 2018, I got into an "accident" at my job, in which, according to my former employer, I had to go for a drug (urine) test in which I was prohibited from performing any safety sensitive duties until my former employer received a negative result. However, because of Independence Day, and the 72 hours to get the results, which only takes place on business days, I was out of work for close to a week. Nice, right? They are real. Just do the best you can with the months and the years - nothing is 100% perfect. If necessary, you can obtain a job history printout from your local Social Security Office to help you with this.
  24. Going forward, as per the guidelines of the website, if you can please post in the relevant forum, which can be found here, it would be appreciated. To answer your specific question: I have personally taken Exams 2611, 2612, 2613, 2614 and 3601, and the agency only published the results from Exam 2611. Keep in mind that, as per the first page of the Notice of Examination, the agency has to publish the test scores from Exam 2612 and Exam 2613 first before they publish the results from Exam 2614, in addition to going through the list with the anticipation of hiring Bus Operators. Therefore, to make a long story short, it's going to be a while before the results from Exam 2614 are published. Thank you.
