  1. They are. Usually Port police is stationed at Howard Beach and Jamaica to serve as a deterrent. However, I have seen some people do it every once in awhile. Generally quite rare compared to the subway since usually the people that go to the airport are generally travelers, which usually pay or workers that generally have a monthly card anyways.
  2. It's probably only a few for now since they want to test it. I take the Airtrain 5 days a week to work at JFK and the OMNY scanners are in front of the turnstiles where you would put in the MetroCard, so it is an awkward placement compared to the layouts in the subway. I'm sure at some point when the Metrocards are phased out, they will replace all the turnstiles with ONMY readers and not have the scanner placed in front of the machine attached to the turnstile like an external hardrive to a PC.
  3. That's true. I forgot about the obvious distinction for just being more simple and obvious for people since no s were running either. Perhaps if the were running, that might have probably ran to Brooklyn Bridge local and the would just go from Woodlawn to 125 St.
  4. So is the running in two sections, besides the construction, just for internal crew purposes like with the Broadway Junction ? Since I don't really see the difference of those from 125 St to Brooklyn Bridge just being extra trains that could just turn at 3rd Ave - 138 St which from what I can tell is where they are being turned around anyways.
  5. Well I guess this is going to be more common as we slowly move into CBTC. Fantastic timing during the evening rush also.
  6. Ah, that's just a bug. Somebody mentioned this awhile back, maybe they will update it at some point, who knows. While they are at it, might as well update the announcements in Manhattan from this is a Queens Bound train to this is a Queens Bound local/express train since the regular announcements are pretty worthless with the bug in the signs at the moment.
  7. When the LEDs were still being installed, the front rollsign would be changed also, but once they were fully installed, many instances with needing to get the trains out, the front and the side LEDs were often mismatch with express in the front and side local and it was actually a local train and with local front and side express with it actually being a local train, etc. TA just felt it was better to let the LEDs tell the story of the train and they handed out pamphlets saying to check the LEDs for what train it is instead of the front signs. On the they are changed probably due to the destination differences unlike the with the same ones and just different stops.
  8. The 7th Ave being down was fun today, made me late for class as my train was stuck between Times Square and Penn Station for a bit before it finally entered the station and I was able to walk over to 8th Ave and take the train there to make it to class. Apparently the conductors were saying that you can talk to the MTA Crew for having a late notice and a free transfer to 8th Ave but there was just no time for that and I just ate the extra $2.50. P.S. Yes I am typing on campus right now. lol Looks like they are going to cut the to a shuttle since all the s are being sent down Lexington.
  9. Saw the train today in service at 33rd. I am gonna guess it passed the test?
  10. Ah ok, it seemed like they moved a little bit lol, or the board is just very short. I know the boards at the 6th car board with the yellow and red got removed years ago when the Redbirds disappeared off the line. Anyways, rode the R188 today, probably my 8th time now. Had an issue today as it did on the 5th day in operation, the Thursday of the first week, which the door on the left side Manhattan bound on 7819 got stuck again with the light staying on while it was closed. But as like last time, right as one of the supervisors I am guessing on the ends of the car, say pull it out of service, it closes itself properly with the light going off. The R188 is mad slick lol. Just an interesting experience on the ride. I hope the new metal type smell goes away at some point on those trains, it is still there faintly and it is just weird to smell it throughout the whole ride.
  11. Correct me if I am wrong, but being an avid rider for many years. When the R62As came, I believe they reworked the C/R boards for the 5th car, so I am guessing they will probably have to extend them again for the R188s when the 6th car is used again. Although, I guess in the grand scheme of things, it is a minor issue? I always just assumed being on the board is very crucial in operation.
  12. They probably won't ever appear on that line as the orange rollsign doesn't exist in the older fleets. Whenever it needs an extra train, it is just going to borrow an R160 off the and the (J)/(Z) will continue to use the R32s.
  13. Well everybody has said it at this point, cool maps man. But none of your plans would work since it would just inconvenience people. I live on the and on Queens Blvd and having 3 different trunk lines on Queens Blvd, gives me 4 choices to go into the city including the . If your plan was put into effect. I think I would just take the into the city every time since Broadway is my most used Manhattan trunk line. Your plan might be better at numbers stand point but when passengers come into the picture, less choices and having to transfer at major stations are just going to crowd the line even more on those stops.
  14. They were at one point during the evening rush I believe. Maybe they felt relaying at 103St was a hassle and they just decided to cut it and run the and local since the runs local during late nights anyways.
  15. As NX Express said, there was work on the express tracks on Broadway Lafayette street on the last FASTRACK and on the previous one, the switches north of West 4th Street were being work on as show in the pictures when that FASTRACK happened. This will be the first time that the express tracks are clear for D trains to go to West 4th Street.
  16. Yep, and its quiet now. Which means there is no reason to really be active on it.

  17. Eh, I am mostly a vandal fighter, semi retired now as it is a bit tedious on my rather somewhat busy schedule.

  18. Thanks for the R32 rollsign man, looks great!

  19. Lol, I would also if I own an iPod, I would totally get that off the iTune store.
  20. Hey man, back for another request if it isn't a bother. Rockaway Round-Robin(or Shuttle whichever fits) Via Rockaway Branches To Rockaway Park To Far Rockaway To Euclid Ave Would like the shuttle flipdot also. The post below inspired me for a fantasy one also lol (X) Darker Than Black (X) PANDORA Express (X) Via Tokyo, Japan (X) To Hell's Gate I would like it in as a dark blue, if possible, if not just use the regular blue. Thanks!
