Damn, Mark, real sorry to hear this! Stealing money from you (basically)... that's real bad and messed up! Also, that's real messed up how you almost got shot by your grandpa... hope you feel better from all of this crap, and I can't wait to see your full personality finally!

Probably the R32 can occur in any rush hour run, and will pop up spontaneously. It isn't safe to expect its appearance at the same time every day.

Is the set 7216-7220/7899 being transported to the corona yard or still being tested.
Still being tested. 7211-7215 are at Corona strangely, though.

Are they doing anything to the R143s?
I heard they were, but only the experts can answer that lol.

Wow... they're still quite abundant, past their expected retirement! Noice to see these around though!

So is it safe to now guess that the R142As they're converting are the oldest ones and up?
Yup.

Speaking of locations, here's where manufactured R188s currently are:
Corona Yard*:
R142A Conversions/C-cars: 7211-7215
Coney Island Complex:
R188 New Cars - base order: 7811-7821
Unionport/E180 St. Yards:
R142A Conversions/C-cars: 7216-7220/7899
R188 New Cars - base order: 7822-7832
Kawasaki Yonkers Facility or Unknown Location (R188 new cars 1st option order not included at this time):
R142A Conversions/C-cars: 7221-7230/7900
* I have not confirmed if 7211-7215 are still at Corona. If anyone knows where 7211-7215 is, please notify me via this thread.
Please add some spottings if you see any R188s, and I will try to post an update soon!

Wow what the hell... why do so many NJT drivers act so arrogantly and aggressively?

Or is it... (we gotta wait for what foamers put up)

^^^^ This.

Lol this time, calm down. At the time you posted, it wasn't certain as to what was going to happen, and he probably had it confirmed by the massive amounts of info...

very little, the other seats are better.
Something told me that those new seats were not roomy...

According to Subchat, R160As on the is true. 5 trains in total (so 40 cars), and all will be from the non-CBTC (no shit sherlock) batch. (above 8377(?))

Im sorry but why go and waste time trying to get the R32 on the now when more sets will be on it in the next month or 2 , lets not forget the R42s there as well for a RFW .
Because in this transit hobby, railfans strive to find foam first (not all, but there are some good examples out there)...

Wow, 7253 looks epic on the QBX1...
At least I got my share lol... hope to get at least one when I come back.
EDIT: Has a D60 numbered 1010 or 1025 been seen yet... 1019 was JUST seen days ago.

There's a staircase closed off at the northbound side of the 168th Street station on the line. Wikipedia says it leads to an unknown location. I wonder where this goes.
Seen it before, and it said it went to some employee personnel room.

So it begins... and my location on the globe prevents me from finding foam first...

A month ago:
My point made...
Anyway, have a 1010, 1019, and 1025 been spotted yet? Seems like the MTA either forgot to renumber 2 units to 1010 and 1019, or we just never posted it here...

Alright, so which one of you was the guy who came up to me at Jay St last night and asked when the R32's were gonna start running on the again..... and then wouldn't accept my answer when I told you THEY AREN'T.
Lol calm down.

Not a move per se, but 1023 was formerly 5425 (although the interior number has not been changed).
I could have sworn that 5425 was in service in Tuskeegee just weeks ago.... dayum.

5615 will be OOS for quite some time after today's toasting.
Guess another D60 bites the dust... until it gets rebuilt with another unit's rear...?

Not like they always on the lol
The R160As, that is lol.

Nice shots 711, but would you happen to know why these units were retrofitted with the LEDs (flimsy flipdots maybe?)? Also, it's interesting to see how the MTA isn't reactivating the LED units for MTA bus....

SUBWAY - Random Thoughts Topic
in New York City Subway
Posted · Edited by mtattrain
Do forgive me about the expletive, but
Pantograph gates were installed at a time where the MTA was real concerned about people falling out between subway cars (they acted like gates, at least on the NYC subway). Now, I believe they just use chain gates, which can be seen on the NTTs, and they don't need pantographs on the bulkheads of the trains, since it is impossible to pass from A-car to A-car (even the BMT/IND equipment from R44-R68 don't have pantograph gates if I'm not mistaken doe).
On a side note, one week till the weekend closures start! Wonder if 21st St. will be rehabbed finally...
