  1. Does Hamilton Mall only have that 1 stop by the old race track? I took an NJT bus for the first time earlier in the month because I didn't want to pay for the parking garage in AC twice. I took the 553 from AC to the mall and the ride was nice, but the store I wanted to go to was nowhere near the main mall itself. I had to walk to this other strip mall for the store I went to, and when I was done there, I couldn't find any other stop, but on my way there I saw a 319 drive through part of the parking lot.
  2. Saw NG 1768 by the Regal in Lynbrook with a NICE truck behind it. I know the oldest NGs are almost a decade old, but come on...
  3. That looks like it's by the Western Beef. It doesn't help that Eagle Avenue is right there - that left from Eagle to Woodfield isn't easy to make with all the traffic coming up the other side. When it gets congested, people like to use the suicide lane in front of the Western Beef to get around traffic. I don't doubt that the SUV tried something like that, but there are no other photos to go by other than firstonscene's only photo.
  4. I remember getting the Math A Regents, Global I, and the Living Environment (everyone called it "Bio" for short). The scores for the old Math A/B Regents exams were so catastrophically bad (my score was in the low 70s) the state decided to split it back up (Trig-Algebra) after my class took it.
  5. They give you the ELA in the 9th grade now? Good God.
  6. Is there bustitution going on today for the LIRR? I saw an MTA Bus MCI (3050) across from the West Hempstead LIRR station. I saw another MCI (too far to see the number) at Valley Stream, too.
  7. Any horror stories about A/C not working or it being "too cold" inside the bus so passengers open the windows?
  8. 30 minutes from Exit 2 to the outerbridge, and I was by exit 5. I could have spent that time getting over the GWB and then making up for it on the Turnpike.
  9. Those look nice and if you look at the back, the old font number still shows.
  10. It was, but I was stupid enough to think "30 minutes in traffic is better than spending more time moving." Google's other suggestion was take the GWB.
  11. You should have been there the weekend the NJ-bound Goethals was closed and they were preparing to open the second span. It was half an hour to get onto the Outerbridge. Google told me to cut through Bricktown Mall and then use the ramp immediately before the bridge. It would have worked if half of Staten Island wasn't trying to do the same thing. I do wonder what would have happened if all those canceled SI highways had been built.
  12. Am I still wrong in believing that Carrier HVAC in anything that moves is a waste?
  13. SI-bound. I was headed for Brooklyn so I didn't get to see the number.
  14. I saw an SBS-wrapped NG on the lower deck of the Verrazano earlier this morning in the right lane with the signs off, with an NYPD truck blocking lanes to create a safety zone - it must have been a breakdown because only the B/O was onboard.
  15. This attitude is why he keeps giving you smart-arse answers. I'm sure he deals with plenty of your type already on a daily basis.
  16. I started listening to the traffic reports on 1010 WINS at the start of the decade. I kind of looked forward to it and would put it on even when I wasn't driving but when they changed their on-air sounders (the little chime you hear when they come back from a commercial break or whatever) in 2016, they started saying "Dodge Traffic Center" instead of "time for traffic and transit on the 1's" which sounds freaking stupid, because Dodge has never had a good reputation in the US for anything ever. It's even worse now that they say "RAM Trucks Traffic Center." There's no urgency as opposed to them saying "Time for (expanded) Traffic & Transit on the 1's," because nothing FIAT has owned or produced has ever been reliable or worth owning. FIAT must have dropped big money for them to keep going like this.
  17. XN40 #1955 was on the side of Merrick with a head-sized white scuff on the driver's side of the rear bumper and a same-color Accord was parked further up. I saw two NICE personnel, not including the driver, hand a piece of paper to who I assumed were the passengers and driver in the Accord and he walked back to where the bus was. I thought it was a breakdown but then I noticed the engine cover was closed and the Accord with its emergency signals on. I didn't see NCPD at any point so I assume it had just happened. It seems like the Accord tried to pass the bus on the left but then scraped the bumper at speed. This is also why I stay far away from any Florida or PA plate cars. They're just New Yorkers trying to pay out-of-state insurance prices.
  18. To be more precise, they stopped immediately behind the Social Security building. Before the Intermodal Center was built, there was a massive parking lot. Today, the area where those buses used to stop is now a one-way street.
  19. I actually graduated from Nassau and I typically liked my professors. Then again, they never spoke of their problems with the president of the college or anything like that. Anyway, it's too late to reverse the trend. Missing runs, runs so late they might as well have not happened, and poor maintenance have plagued these from the start. I'm actually waiting for it all to fall apart. Who in their right mind would wait in the cold for a bus that might not even come?
  20. Is NICE even trying to get riders back anymore? Why do I still see so many missing buses? People are waiting 30 minutes just because one bus didn't come. Absolutely disgusting.
  21. There are two stops there, technically. There's one on the SW corner that the old N16 used to stop at and the stop behind the library, which for some reason is also known as Miller Avenue and Endo Blvd. If ever the latter is closed, students have to trek to the old part of campus to find another stop.
  22. As an afterthought like Mongo did. I wonder if NICE will even bother repainting the buses considering he had so much more to do with it.
