  1. Yes, those timers do clear on the post, but few people do as not every R32 brakes well enough to stop at the 8 on what is the fastest local stop on the line. Nostrand on the local is not fast at all (not like other stations on the line), it just has the reputation as being fast, but that's really just the s/b express. The other four plats are guilty by association lol.
  2. And one set of 44s just vanished from concourse, destination unknown.
  3. Unless its an emergency, no track work in rush hours. That 956 should be up at 59 around 1030

  5. Can get over 35, speed limit is 30 due to curves inside the station. However, s/b speed limit is 45 and the bends are still there. There's speed limits at Sheepshead Bay and Kings Highway, I obey those too (which is why the T/O's are slowing down outside the station, and Kings Highway is a notorious radar gun spot with that 30 sitting on the entering signal n/b, no curve or nothing). Church and Newkirk there are no limits, and I operate accordingly. I'm on the ( again tomorrow (Wed), I take the last one outa there (9:56 from Brighton).

  9. That one R68 seems to have landed on the , I honestly didn't see any 68A on the the other day, just that one 68 with all the 160.
  10. They went to Coney Island (via Concourse). I saw a similar set of cars (assuming the same ones you saw) on the West End Thursday night waiting to go into CIY north of Bay Pkwy (a garbage train in the way, but there never is any rush with transfers since most inter-divisional transfers is the T/O's job for the day, unlike regular ones). I was operating a going north on my last trip, FYI.
  11. It takes some time to correct that, just like it look most of the summer for the to become all R46. Things are NOT done overnight people. I had a job yesterday and of the four half trips, three on a R46, the last one on a R32. There were a couple of R32 back on the again. Along with all the other yard work and washes (which takes priority btw), to take a pair off all those 10 car 32s and make up more 8-car trains takes awhile. It was said the process would start around Labor Day, it never said it'll finish the very next day.
  12. I think its geography. People see the heading due south (based on the map) for its entire length. Also, while experts know the map isn't to scale, it looks (based on the map) that the distance to SI looks similar to any one of those under river tunnels the map also depict the other services going through. Finally, the ferry goes a similar route and these people that suggest this think of this as eventually replacing the ferry altogether.
  13. Usually that tower lets the come in on the express...
  14. And don't assume it will be right after that big September GO, remember all the temporary plats that have to go down, tracks and signals being refurbished and restored, road testing, with some gap time for anything that may come up. These are the times where they can do things in this area that normally would fall on the backburner (and I dont mean station upgrades north of Newkirk).
  15. Actually operated that R42 roaming around the A, wasnt that bad...it just left going back north...left far rock at 530. Left 207 again at 730 for the train chasers
  16. That 42 that was on the charlie on the now. There is a 32 in the barn at east new york.
  17. Havent had any issues yet.

  18. What kinda stories you want?

  19. The modern day evolution is this (for the IRT): (Past) Canal St was there before anything going over the Manny B. With all those BMT lines in there, its still a local station and it will remain that way. All because the BMT expresses stop there doesn't mean the IRT expresses should stop there too. (present) Bleecker St was there before the IND showed up downstairs running along Houston. In fact the station was extended in the opposite direction southbound to make way for a connection to the IND. When they finish up the northbound connection (I guess next year) that station as well will have an uptick in ridership, but by no means does it justify "oh now it should be an express station in the IRT because of all that IND service connecting downstairs". Granted, in both examples the has a much shorter headway then any of the other arguments around the system. That's another erroneous railfan belief that express services must connect with express services wherever they stop.
  20. They ride the system a lot, they just think every decent ridership station should have connections to express service, as if that mall was there before the tracks were laid out. Northbound, trains sail thru at about 46, the fastest stretch in that direction before starting to climb uphill. Southbound its in the northern blvd cut. Similarly, 161 yankee stadium the neighborhood was not what it was now when the tracks were laid there.
  21. Central Park West Allerton Avenue. White Plains Road (redundant with Bx Park East right there, but still helpful) Tillary Street 5th Avenue
  22. Thing is, the bus terminal isn't right upstairs, thats why there's one on the line. I thought of the Dyre idea a long time ago, and I know there used to be a station in between Dekalb and Grand/Canal right before the split (Mike can elaborate on this), and DUMBO could use another station besides York (the main one) and High (which is more for those on the southern side of the Brooklyn Bridge). Im thinking in the Tillary St area.
  23. Using existing track layouts, where around the system would you put new stations that never had them before? One place I can think of is Allerton Av on the line. Still some good distance from Gun Hill and while NIMBYish it would make yet another alternate Co-op station (along with Baychester/Pelham/Gun Hill)
