  2. Exactly! Imagine the traffic you'd generate over holidays like spring break, which is a huge time of year for Southern schools. I'm sure a good amount of them would be willing to spend that extra buck on a high speed train ticket, and I know a lot of them will take it over a most likely more expensive flight. OK, so I may have meant to say Asian. But you get the point, no need to be messing around with me. Even the TGVs put the P32s and F40s to shame, kinda sad to be honest, considering the cars were built around the same time as you claim.
  3. Pretty old, but living in Virginia, I've been following this for quite some time. I can understand heritage, but sometimes, change is for the better. I've ridden that two hour ride in the diesel P32s, and I can tell you, that some high speed rail would do Virginia well. As a matter of fact, it would do the entire South, maybe even country well. The Europeans have systems that put us to shame. We are still running cars from the 1980s.   4. Call me OCD but I can't be the only one wishing that they had gotten rid of the incandescent headlight bulbs. Even the planes are making the switch to LEDs. They light up much quicker, and have a much brighter output.

  6. The unveiled on Monday what it’s calling an “ambitious plan” to add more than 1,000 more subway cars and renovate 31 stations as it tries to improve service amid increasing ridership. Gov. Andrew Cuomo revealed the “reimagined” subway cars at the Transit Museum in Brooklyn, detailing the state-of-the-art design of 1,025 new trains. Their features will include wider doors, and 750 will have “Open Car End” designed-cars, which will reduce wait times and increase capacity.   12. I've been saying this for years, the needs to be extended to Brooklyn either permanently or during rush hour. It is one of the, if not the only, lines that offers a transfer to pretty much every important line in Manhattan.
  13. If I had to give my opinion here, it's both a yes and a no. Once we get more automated systems like the CBTC on every line, I think we might be able to handle it. I remember the day I took the in Brooklyn for the first time and saw the trains literally coming one after the other. If we can increase the number of trains, maybe even a few more lines that offer some good connections COUGH(J)INSOUTHERNBROOKLYNCOUGH. The no side of this is really, how long CBTC can aid to this problem. Trains are always gonna be crowded. I remember coming to NY a few years ago and noticing the was pretty much empty on weekends. Now you can't even get a seat going uptown. The population is gonna grow faster than the lines that we have. Leave the rest to engineering advancements.
  14. Was a mess on the today. We were delayed for 2 hours. Stuck at Church, Parkside, between Prospect and 7th, between DeKalb and the Bridge, and between 8 and 14 for a LONG time. Ended up having to re - schedule our train to Virginia. This is what I saw; via Broadway Local and VERY delayed via tunnel to Whitehall St via Broadway Express to 57 St They told us multiple times at Church Av downtown via 6 Av Local to 2 Av and possibly some running up Culver or Sea Beach who knows... It was a mad house out there.

Buses run between 65 St and Jamaica Center Chambers St to Queens Plaza (Some trains via QBL Local to 65 St) Coney Island to 21 / Queensbridge (Some trains via QBL Local to 65 St) Shuttle Union Turnpike to 179 St (Trains skip Van Wyck and Stuphin Blvds) No Changes Metropolitan Av to Chambers / Broad St 95 St to 65 St

  17. Saw a D at Chambers yesterday, makes sense now lol. Saw a few work trains on the 6 Av Express as well, since the ran via the from W4. is also extended down to Chambers via Nassau.

  21. I couldn't agree more. I always thought we needed a thread like this, but I never got around to bringing one up. I have been on every line, haven't ridden them all out to the ends, but I am working on it. So I guess the one that stood out to me the most was the . It was a bit awkward for me on the train, since everyone else was of asian descent, but it was a good ride out to Main St. Haven't been on the R188s yet, but definitely on my list for when I go back up. My favorite ride out without a doubt has to be the out to Far Rockaway. I had gone to New York near the end of the summer in 2013 and I wanted to knock out the entire line. So I took the train up to 207, across to Lefferts, and out to Far Rockaway, since I had taken the to Beach 116 St, completing riding every line in the system the year before. I don't know what it is about Far Rockaway but the neighborhood is so quiet an peaceful. Boardwalk was really empty, the ocean was flowing nicely, definitely my favorite place in New York. I guess I should know the most about my "home line", the . When I was knocking out most of the system though, the and Franklin were my go to trains. I don't really know how to compare it to the rest of the system. One thing that used to be recurring was definitely all the people piling out of the train at Church Av. As I got older and came back, I noticed that the trains would stay crowded for a lot longer down the line, really showed me how fast New York's population was growing as a whole. It is pretty fun to take the all the way down to W8 or Coney Island during the summer, and enjoying the beach.
