  1. Do you have passenger endorsement? If no, then it doesn’t trump everything. You need to have the passenger endorsement.
  2. No need to downgrade. As mentioned above. Get the passenger endorsement and take the road test on a bus.
  3. I’m hoping CP gets some new locals soon. The C40LF are pretty beat up.
  4. Just saw 9041 on the van wyck. Don’t know where it’s heading either JFK or Baisley.
  5. It was a bit difficult learning the lines when I transferred to the Bronx. As I’ve only ever been to the Bronx to go to Zerega. Took me a week or two. Queens is a lot easier for me.
  6. When you’re at the depot and you go to the paddle report page, there should be an option for route instructions.
  7. You don’t learn the lines. You ride the lines to see any unusual turns and turn arounds. Then you use the turn by turn directions for a couple days on your own.
  8. You do get only 3 days to learn the lines, unless you go to Staten Island. You will be doing line training all over again. I believe 17 days with a mentor.
  9. That’s my point exactly. When was the first delivery of new novas to TA? MTAB didn’t see them until 23-24.
  10. Nah I’m not bashing you. There’s no need for that. Just wanted to chime in. I think CP will always be one of the last depots to get new equipment solely because we are a CNG depot. Although WF is also CNG and got newer equipment. However TA depots do get newer equipment first.
  11. I can tell you that those new buses aren’t all they are cracked up to be. Having driven Novas, Smart Buses and C40LF I prefer the C40LF that we have at College Point. Yes they are old but trust me. They drive better than those newer buses. The only thing I’ve driven that feels better is the 8000 novas.

  13. Wow. This post should be stared. This is 100% the best advice. I came in to my training with 8 years cdl driving experience and let me tell you. It didn’t mean anything to my superintendent. He was quick to point out all my mistakes. Don’t be cocky. Go into this with an open mind and me willing to learn. Don’t be afraid of driving the bus. Anytime your superintendent ask who wants to drive? Volunteer immediately. Try to fix mistakes while the superintendent is there because when you’re on the road by yourself all eyes are on you. Remember that the most important thing to the MTA is safety.
  14. As @DEE123said. Your current employer doesn’t have to fill anything. It’s for you and the mta HR to complete. That being said. Anything you put on that form will be denied. Mta doesn’t allow dual employment for safety sensitive position. So I filled out my info and put N/A for everything else.
  15. For the eye exam they test you without the glasses first and then with. They do test for color blindness but if you fail the color blindness test on the machine they will do the signal test. I’m color blind and fail the computer part every single time. Hearing is done in a sound proof booth.

  17. If you want Staten Island division, your chances of getting it is very high. Tons of people get pushed into Staten Island and want out. So newbies get pushed there so the others can pick out.
  18. Let me tell you something about Livingston street. They don’t know much about much. Ask any 2 people the same question. I bet you get different answers each time. When I first started I learn much more from this site than anything Livingston told me.
  19. I went down to famous footwear and bought the cheapest non slip boots I could find. I ended up wearing them for my first 1.5 years on the job. And I bought a $10 watch from rite aid. Nothing fancy. My pm is always open.
