  1. He also reminds me of depotofrelax A LOT! Atleast I noticed that they both say "rollout sign."
  2. No, they don't. But I noticed that cars w/ those stickers are usually on the conductor ends.... Because when R188 sets are flipped (ex. FRONT 7849-7854,7844-7848 BACK) during testing you would see that sticker. When regularly coupled (7844-7854) there is no sticker seen on the ends.
  3. They do that with the R160. They put the usually supposed to be conductor ends as operating ends. You can tell if the front (or back) car has a sticker under it's front window. That means it's originally meant to be in the middle. Most of the NTT's have this sticker, and I actually don't know what it says but I know for sure it is only for conductor ends.
  4. There had to have been some sort of issue to make those two sets mis-paired...
  5. There might be problems with that set. I've noticed screechy brake problems on that set consistently, maybe they're trying to fix it up.
  6. Nonetheless, there will still be more R62A than R188 unless on a weekend or during the night....... The R188 fleet is only a bit more than 10 sets right now....... even if they run all of them (which they probably won't) the R62A will still most likely be the majority, especially during rush hour. Even during rush hour, on Monday, the only R188's I recalled seeing were... 7811-7821, 7822-7832, 7221-7230, 7231-7240, 7241-7250. Do not really recall seeing any more, maybe one extra set I didn't notice..... so yeah R62A is majority and will main majority for some time.
  7. That R142 was a movie/show thing, was posted elsewhere w/ photos... Also that conversion set is now undergoing burn in testing on the as well, should see service soon!
  8. Same feeling you get when you're driving/on a train and then suddenly a big sound, and squealing + hard braking pretty much making you lean front with all that force.... It happened on the TOMC this year so I know... kind of.
  9. It doesn't, but what matters is that people actually do these pointless things like it's their everyday life..... nowdays people have nothing else to do. You didn't see no vandalism or any issues back in the 1940's era.... It's now that people want to ruin every new thing.....
  10. Holy sh*t......... Apologize for the language, but what the total f***? So I was on 7830 today, and at Main Street the right side doors were open, leaving the left side doors closed. I looked into the front car 7832, and was like wtf? Do the vandals literally send out sticker-peeling crews? Two of the doors have 1/4 peeled "Do not lean on door" stickers, and a bit on the ones on the top. The door closest to the cab has a new "Do not hold doors" and two new "Do not lean on door" stickers, assuming they have been peeled. This is pathetic.... I've only seen this on 7832 and not on any other car. The entire bottom of the stickers on two of the doors are peeled and are rolling up onto the rest of the sticker, full of fingernail shaped peels on top. Jeez........
  11. Damn, my bad. I said 7836, I meant 7834.............. Anyways I haven't been on the in some time so I might gotta check out for some new vandalism myself.
  12. Those red stickers are everywhere, there was one on 7896, one on 7836, one on 7833.........
  13. Not sure, haven't seen 7227. But I can say they did a decent job touching up 7230, looks much better than 7241. Anyways what the heck is with 7833-7843, that set is like where all the R188 vandalism pretty much is......... BTW a door on 7843 has two do not lean on door stickers that don't match. One of them is from the factory, the other looks like the one from an R142A. So it may have been a peel.... Anyways let's track some vandalism on that set: 7833: Red sticker tag 7834: Sticker on logo, two dried sticker marks on door, and also a sharpie tag above the other logo (it says either SOY or TOY) 7836: Big dry sticker mark on a logo. 7837: Peeled sticker as stated by Tech and Transit 7839: Once had a sharpie tag on it, now removed. 7843: "BLUR"
  14. 7854- Door sticker peeled but they taped it back on..... SAM_0281 by r188_7857, on Flickr
  15. So according to NYC Fire Wire on Facebook, there is a fire in the Steinway Tunnel. And news has been reporting that a fire near Grand Central is shutting down the , which pretty much I think everyone would know by now. Service has pretty much resumed, but now I'm wondering if anything has been done to the weeks of work they've been doing in the tunnel? I know it was just a track fire, but it might have done something to the CBTC and such as it was stated to be near a signal area (I'm assuming it's where the switches are at)...
  16. BTW, to note one thing I saw yesterday... On one of the conversion sets (I think 7231-7240), I spotted graffiti on it (spray paint graffiti). Not sure if they used white spray paint, gray spray paint, silver spray paint, or any spray paint that matches with the train or if it was graffiti that was failed to clean up. It was on the side of the train, and it was the first time I've seen something like that happen to those things.......
  17. And that's why I can no longer trust any statement from the internet pretty much...
  18. The person who is stating that all R142A will be converted for fleet compatibility is a former motorman, so this is pretty confusing...
  19. So I'm being told that there is literally NOTHING in the CBTC box right now? True or false?
  20. Yup, you're right. Lets see..... broke glasses and got a ticket today.....Luckily though I have old glasses and my glasses should be able to be fixed...
  21. There is somewhat a solution for and using R62A. Just like the and they have two strips for local / express. They COULD do that with one strip as the and one strip as the . Now the only hassle is rollsign business..
  22. Alright guys... I got 7843 set for the second time in 2 weeks so I will now give a complete breakdown on the vandalism on that set. 7843: Cab door tag "BLUR" and it seems to be like one of the "Do not lean on door" stickers have been peeled because on one of the doors, the two stickers don't match. One of them is the one they arrived in, the other is the one that is on R142A. (Difference is- the one they arrived in is not as tall and letters are more spread apart) 7836: Big ass dry sticker mark on one of the logos... 7834: Red sticker on an logo, two dry sticker marks on the side of a door, and a sharpie tag that I think says "SOY" that hasn't been removed yet. I have yet to check the interior of 7834, I expect it to be much worse.... 7833: Sticker tag probably removed already. PREVIOUS TAG TO NOTE SEEN ON THIS SET: 7839: Big sharpie tag removed
  23. I've ridden R188 7888-7898 4 times in 4 weeks without even trying...... and R188 7833-7843 two times in two weeks.

Lol, it feels weird being stalked by a train.

There's another transit forum I go on where's a whole thread dedicated to the topic of "stalker units". Back in the days of Toronto's H5s, I used to see two particular pairs on a semi frequent basis, every time I'd go hunting. But then they were retired :(

Nice. My R188 stalker unit(s) are the 7888 set and 7833 set :P
