Is there a count of how many NABIs got into bad accidents/got put out of service? Seems like a LOT

A couple of weeks ago, a Coach USA NABI crashed into a Bank of America in Orange.

Then there was the one that crashed into the building in Newark.

I Don't remember the bus #s from either incident.

"Jeez. I feel like there's been at least 10 NABI wrecks. I could be wrong, but I don't remember any of the Novas or Flxibles getting into bad wrecks this often.

Anybody know the status of the previously wrecked NABIs?! "

Quite the odd site today, Neoplans on the 70 in Irvington and I'm only bringing that up because you would usually see those on the 70 on weekends only.

 

But the more surprising thing that I saw in Irvington was the Go Bus Nabi 6395 on the 37 around 4:25pm, yep I never saw that one coming.

I'm thinking Hilton has a huge shortage of buses. Didnt they give some to Big Tree, Wash. Twp, and also help with the 126? "

...and still no Coach USA NABIs.

"Not to mention there's still a crapton of Novas at Orange. I saw 1415, 1473, and 1514 all back to back on the Bloomfield bound 94 this morning. "

I guess they're not retiring all the Novas. I just saw 1345 on the 94 not too long ago. I'm willing to bet there's still at least 10 more Novas still being used at Orange.

Are they keeping some of the Nova B's around for a couple more years?! I saw 1350 on the 94 this morning, even tho Orange is done getting all their NABIs

6440 on the 94 right now. So less than 100 nabi's left to come in. Only going to number 6538.  The last bus for NJT is supposed to be 6453. The remaining to 6538 go to A&C BUS, Broadway bus and Coach usa. But it will probably change.

Holy crap, I was just on that bus around that time! I couldnt come here to report my sighting cause my phone is messed up tho. Were you actually riding on it or saw it on MyBus Now?!"

 

Doesn't Orange have more than enough NABIs? Why don't they just send the rest to a garage that really needs them?

Since Greenville is getting all those NABIs, will they even have enough to go to Orange (last I heard, they had at least 60 Novas left), AC, and Coach USA (which has a whole fleet of Novas)?! The order stops at like 65XX "

Not safe yet ....I saw 6412 on the 80 last night look's like greenville getting some of the 64xxx

I saw the 6326 on the 1 going to Ivy Hill and I was on the 6327 going to Downtown.

Yeah, you're probably right. I was just estimating. lol Cause I know Hilton & Orange were going back and forth a lot with receiving NABIs.

Also, I saw 6402 on the 96. I think it's safe to say Orange will be getting up to around 6435. "

Wonder why Orange is getting Hilton's 63XX's?

"Orange swapped about 20-25 buses with Hilton like last year. So Orange now has like 5830-5851, and Orange now has about 5975-6000. So the 58XXs you've been seeing probably really were Orange's. lol"

I heard once the Neo's retire that there will be no replacement for them....or I should say the option for 150 more NABIs are their replacement. If that's true then Fairview is gonna be in a world of hurt on the 150 lines.

I thought the 150 NABI option was excercised when NJT got the 6400/6500 series NABIs that are being delivered now..?!

But that's weird, cause I thought the goBuses used suburbans (like the go28 uses suburban NABIs and the go25 used suburban Novas). I wonder how the inside of them look. "

I'm really not too sure. The buses don't have Clever Devices, of course they can be equipped with them but you would think that would be done by now. The NABI 416 is being discontinued at the end of this order, in 5 years or whatever they'll have to order a different bus.

"They probably haven't fitted them with clever devices yet because the Go25 is such an infrequent route with not that many stops. NJT probably sees no point in doing so. I could be wrong tho. Maybe they will order suburban buses in the next couple of years from whatever company they have build the replacements for the Neoplans..?! "

"I don't think the Novas for the Go25 are going anywhere anytime soon. Mainly cause they're the 2001 suburban model Novas. Plus, since they're only used on the Go25- which only does a few rush hour runs every weekday, I can imagine those buses have VERY low mileage. I'd say give or take another 5 years until NJT orders a few more NABI suburbans as replacements. "

"The NABIs (at least the ones from Orange & Hilton) no longer say "Stop Requested". When you ring the bell, it just makes a chime sound (instead of the chime, then the voice saying "Stop Requested"). Also, some of the 5800s at Orange now have driver shields. "

The highest Numbered Nabi that I saw was the 6374 earlier today on the 27 at Irvington Terminal.

Hmm. I Wonder if it was a Hilton bus or an Orange bus..
