  1. The application for this position begins December 9, 2016. http://web.mta.info/nyct/hr/appexam.htm It also says on the bottom of the page to look through their exam archives for previous Notices of Examination for that job. I couldn't find it there, but I found an old one from 2009 here: http://www.nyc.gov/html/dcas/downloads/pdf/noes/200808098000.pdf Question to anyone who can advise me: What EXACTLY do they ask you on the Education and Experience form? Does anyone have a blank sample they might be willing to share? I ask this because I found on another forum that applicants for T/O filled it out seemingly correctly and still got DQ'd: http://www.city-data.com/forum/new-york-city/703253-took-mta-train-operator-exam-got-14.html Do you need pay stubs? What DO you need? Has anyone been through this before? Does college work sudy count? Also, what does it mean when they say part-time work experience will be "pro-rated"? What is that?
  2. This thread is for Exam # 8600 (Track Worker) in which the application period is scheduled from October 6th to October 24th of 2017. Happy posting!!
  3. So I've spent many hours today searching for an answer, so I thought I would ask. I plan on signing up and possibly taking both exams coming up (Fall and Winter signup). I won't get into specifics, but I want to do everything I can to score very well. I was at a bookstore the other day and decided to pick up a general Civil Service study guide. I opened it up and took some practice exams, they were not easy. My math skills are strong, however, I wouldn't consider myself a grammar expert. I didn't score all that well on the grammar usage section. I had my wife, who is a Harvard Law Grad and is currently a contract attorney, take a look. She didn't score as bad as me, but she did get some wrong and mentioned the tests were very difficult. A sample question that I found quite hard is : Select the sentence that represents the best example of English grammar: A .In Europe, scientists have found that the drastic changes in weather is in direct correlation to the increase in car use. B .The Magic Castle in Hollywood have been declared a historic landmark by the City of Los Angeles. C .There is a water shortage therefore waiters should only serve water to patrons on request instead of bringing water glasses to everyone at every table. D. After years of serving the community, the local library will be shut down due to lack of funds. I also found some spelling sections difficult as well. Before I go overboard and spend time studying material that isn't relevant to the exams, I want to ask what should I expect on these tests? I've read those Passbooks are a waste of money, and a good resource for the Bus Operator test is a DMV study guide. Do the type of questions I mentioned above exist on the test? Also, do they have spelling/grammar sections? What kind of math questions (multiplying fractions?). What kind of questions and topics should I look into? I've read that the exam is very easy and is basic math and trip situation questions. Can anyone confirm this? If I'm going to give these exams a shot, I want to do everything humanly possible to do well. Thanks!
  4. This is going to be a master thread for the 6 TA exams scheduled to be held between March and August. You can apply for more than one exam in this series BUT you cannot apply for the same exam #, more than once. The MTA is anticipating hiring candidates who have passed an exam provisionally, approximately 2 months after each exam period ends. Being hired provisionally means your employment is temporary for up to 9 months, or not for 2 months after the list is established. You must be re-hired as a permanent employee (from the list) in order to continue employment after the provisional status expires. Apply Here: www.mymta.info/exams The Notice of Examination (NOE) for 2611, 2612, 2613, 2614, 3600 and 3601 can be found here. Exam 2611: March 1st - 31st, 2022, testing expected to begin April 18, 2022. Exam 2612: April 1st - 30th, 2022 ; testing expected May 16, 2022. Exam 2613: May 2nd - 31st, 2022 ; testing expected June 20, 2022. Exam 2614: June 1st - 30th, 2022 ; testing expected July 18, 2022. Exam 3600: July 1st - 31st, 2022; testing expected August 15, 2022. Exam 3601: August 1st - 30th, 2022; testing expected September 19th, 2022.

  7. Hello everyone, just setting up a post where we can share our progress during the hiring process. April 23 was the exam deadline, the MTA will be testing us on either Saturday August 3rd, or Sunday August 4th. If you’ve taken a past exam, please feel free to post what to study for the exam, and if you have any other tips. Good Luck all.
  8. Have anybody gotten there test date yet? My wife applied for it and haven't gotten it yet? And is there a customer service number to call to check if they received your application??
  9. According to this page, the filing/application period will be from May 5th to May 23rd. For those of you who are curious as far as what the Notice of Examination (NOE) might contain, I would encourage you to view the NOE for B/O Exam 2613 & B/O Exam 4600. There are many similarities between these two NOE, respectively. Happy Posting!!
