R32 3348 Posted June 18, 2009 Share #1 Posted June 18, 2009 This was HELL. Got stuck in it. Took the N with my friends to QBP, where we see we missed an express. We wait for another train when I see that that express got stalled on the turn to 33rd. For 20 minutes I'm trying to convince my friends to take the Q32 to Woodside, but stupid LIRR kids don't care because it means they'll miss their precious 4:06 train (as if standing at QBP will get you there faster!). So by the time I convince them to take the Q32 everyone else was told to do so too by the dispatcher. I ditch them, and decide to take the Q66 to 73rd St. and walk home. Bus driver spends 5 minutes at Queens Plaza accepting passengers, most of them stuy kids who are so obviously headed to flushing, and 50 year old asian grannies who keep asking the driver if the bus is going to Flushing and not paying. WHAT PART OF Q66 FLUSHING MAIN ST. DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND?? IT'S IN 200 PT FONT ON A 40 FOOT LONG BUS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOUR FACE!!! GO BACK TO FREAKING ZONI!!!!!! So anyway, the bus driver misses every snigle stop on the way to Flushing (I do hope she put the sign to NEXT BUS PLEASE - you should have seen the faces of all the bypassed customers!), and I press stop request at 72nd St. She doesn't notice until 76th St. that I wanted to get off, though I don't really blame her because it was obvious she was having a bad day. The sad part about all this is that I did't realize that I could have taken the E R V at Queens Plaza until I was on the bus (and I will avoid the Q32 at all costs). I realized on the bus ride that I could get off at Queensbridge for the F, but RIGHT as I realize this the bus passes the Queensbridge station. That sucks man, couldn't you have walked a bit and taken the Q60 and gotten off at QB/69St or somewhere in the low 70's.

R32 3348 Posted June 19, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted June 19, 2009 I probably could have, but the Q60 was being crowded a LOT as well. The best solution would have been to take the subway. Oh well...

R44 5278 Posted June 19, 2009 Share #6 Posted June 19, 2009 Trust me, I had worse experiences in Brooklyn back in the 90s. That's why I would never take the bus!

Im guessing since u were in queens they gave you guys the option to use the Q32/Q48 people who are at LI City and Midtown can run via LIRR. Same for those of Flushing to Manhattan

Same for those of Flushing to Manhattan Yeah, but we were at the other end of the action at QBP, not Main. I only had to get from LIC to Jackson Heights so the LIRR wasn't of much use to me. FamousNYLover Posted June 19, 2009 Share #10 Posted June 19, 2009 I was affected also. After I return book/DVDs at Mid-Manhattan Library, I ask at GCT if was running, but he did not give me well response. So, I ask Transit Cop if was running, and they told me it is still suspended. So, I took to Penn Station where MTA P/O said same thing. After I left last BRT Meeting around 19:20, I went back on to 34th St-Penn Station and nice female MTA P/O escorted me and ask if Pt. Wash was still cross honoring MetroCard and express run C/O told me yes. When 19:49 train announcement came on, I went all the way to front end of platform to find out LIRR is not crossing b/c was back on service. I double check with conductor in middle and rear car and they told me same thing. I made to uptown and glad express was running. If it was not, I would have to take Flushing-Main St for Q19/Q66 for Junction Blvd or Q48 to LGA for Q72 home. I did not want to take chance at Woodside for Q32/Q53 either. If 19:49 train did not tell me was back in service, I might have ended up riding it without railroad fare.
Maserati7200 Posted June 19, 2009 Share #11 Posted June 19, 2009 I was exploring around the 96th street station on the when I heard that announcement. There was a power outage on the entire line.
