Fred G Posted June 26, 2009 Share #1 Posted June 26, 2009 Not the shoreline at Old Saybrook but the crossing up at Enfield and Suffield for the Springfield shuttle and the Vermonter. Here are some shots up that way from yesterday. Here's the northbound Vermonter I like this bridge because it doesn't hide the train at all. Some bonus shots: southbound Vermonter leaving Windsor Locks Springfield shuttle in Windsor and in Hartford
mark1447 Posted June 26, 2009 Share #2 Posted June 26, 2009 Very Nice Pics! I love it when the Genesis is at each end of the train! At least Amtrak does it with its p42, MTA doesnt with its P32
P32ACDM 714 Posted June 26, 2009 Share #3 Posted June 26, 2009 Amtrak can double-head their P42s on the Vermonter because they need to, and there is enough of them, the MTA has cab cars for opposite direction operation. Also, P32s are a bit short to put em at each end.
Fred G Posted June 27, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted June 27, 2009 Amtrak was running cab cars on the Vermonter for a while but IINM they were needed on the Keystone so they're back to double P42's.

Fred G Posted June 29, 2009 Author Share #10 Posted June 29, 2009 nice Very nice! Is the bridge single tracked, are there plans for putting second track back on the line? - A The bridge itself is double tracked but the line is single and it's speculated by some that the line would be double tracked for commuter service. I don't know for sure. Here is the bridge up top in 2005:
