Daniel The Cool Posted July 11, 2009 Author Share #26 Posted July 11, 2009 so I will try to hunt the R68/R68As on the lines Monday
R32 3348 Posted July 12, 2009 Share #27 Posted July 12, 2009 Many of the Option I Alstom R160B trains are going from CI to Jamaica. That's how CI is getting R160B option II. However, all but 40 R160As are going to Jamaica. The cars sent over to Jamaica were spares. Jamaica is getting the whole option II order.
Maserati7200 Posted July 12, 2009 Share #28 Posted July 12, 2009 The cars sent over to Jamaica were spares. Jamaica is getting the whole option II order. Wouldn't the Siemens cars from option II go to CIY? I thought the whole transfer happened because JYD needed them more than CIY did.

Nothing is set in stone right now but I would assume they're going to Jamaica since CI doesn't need them right now.
Luis1985 Posted July 12, 2009 Share #30 Posted July 12, 2009 Yea, I know all of the differences. Also to me, the R68A feels like an overall better quality car than the R68. I think the R68A is the highest quality car in the system. hell yea they do. lol.
R44 5278 Posted July 12, 2009 Share #31 Posted July 12, 2009 I like R68A's better, but they aren't that different On the R68As, you don't hear the Westinghouse Whirl as much as the R68 when a car has a broken motor.

Daniel The Cool Posted July 25, 2009 Author Share #34 Posted July 25, 2009 I'm going to try to hunt for those R68/R68As lines again Monday. Do you guys think I'll have luck finding any?
bveguy Posted July 25, 2009 Share #35 Posted July 25, 2009 The R68/A Q you will have a lot of luck on. However, the R68/A W you will have no luck at all.... The fleet is completely R160s....
R32 3348 Posted July 25, 2009 Share #36 Posted July 25, 2009 If you're going to "hunt" for them then don't make it a point to just do the R68s. There's plenty of R68s on the and none on the from what I hear. Since this makes it a lot easier for you to get R68s then you should also focus on other stuff like the Astoria Line, or the Pelham line, or the line, etc. I'm assuming you're going to add a lot of time to your trip waiting for the train, and since you'll hardly need any of that time for waiting I suggest you spend that time on riding new lines and getting more pics. I think I will spend some time on the BMT Broadway Line and record the R160 train announcements and if I'm lucky I'll catch one. I've been hearing people saying theres 1-2 R68/R68As sets on the . Maserati7200 Posted July 26, 2009 Share #38 Posted July 26, 2009 At this point, it is easier to find R68's on the than R160's. Ever since those 60 of CIY's R160B's went to Jamaica, the has been filled with them R68's.
R32 3348 Posted July 26, 2009 Share #39 Posted July 26, 2009 Even if you heard those people say that, I think the is back to being all R160 by now. You should do the in Upper Manhattan as you do the Broadway line regularly now.

Maserati7200 Posted July 27, 2009 Share #43 Posted July 27, 2009 I saw an even amount of 68's and 160's on the Qunicy last week. Well, the varies from day to day, as a daily rider I can attest to that.
