Hello Everyone,

I have new photos of NJ Transit SW1500 locomotives 500 and 501 that were sold to Larry's truck and Electric company for scrap. The locomotives are still in NJT paint however they now have LTEX letters on the sides of the locomotives. The locomotives are waiting to be taken off of the property for good.

Here are the photos.

Enjoy,

P.S. The photos were taken from inside the train I was on.

Where did they go Eric? wheres LTEX?

LTEX is the Acronym for Larrys Truck And Electric Company. They are located somewhere in Ohio I believe. I could be wrong. But I know that LTEX is Larry's Truck And Electric Company. The locomotives Like I said earlier were sold for scrap.

Any word on whats gonna happen with 502? I don't hear much of that loco, I just still see it around Hoboken sometimes.

Hello,

Most likely NJ Transit will keep 502 for a while longer. I do not know when the new switchers will be coming back. The good thing is that if 502 does end up being retired they can assign a regular GP40PH-2 locomotive or one of the MOW GP40-2 locomotives to the yard. They have been assigning the GP40PH-2 locomotives to the Long Branch Layover Yard for about 3 to 4 years now.
