We Need An (8)

Recommended Posts

It's not a matter of eliminating rush hour designations, it was eliminationg the different symbol for non duplicated service. It is now only used for when the express and local versions of the same line run in the same direction at the same time. If it's a service that moves from the local to the express (and a totally different service covers the local), that's what the diamonds were eliminated from. So the <6> and <7> are the only lines left like that, and the <Q> was also like that. The proposed <4> above 149th would also count. Skipping 138th doesn't count anymore, because when they are doing that, no (4)'s are still stopping there; only the (5).

(And the <6> and <7> do run all day, reversing direction around 12-1. The (J) express as well; again, no longer diamond, because when it runs express, only the (M) runs local in that direction).

im confused wasnt the diamond elemation program to get rid of all teh rush hour diamonds?

The current definition for "diamond service" is this:

A part time express service that is a variant of the original line, running in the same direction as the local and runs concurrently with the local. On the Pelham line, the diamond 6 runs with the local 6, as the does the diamond 7 with the 7.
