INDman Posted July 10, 2009 Share #2 Posted July 10, 2009 Didn't you ask this same question on subchat and people told you about bellmouths all over the system. Just go back over that thread and pick out ones located on the IND.

Maserati7200 Posted July 11, 2009 Share #8 Posted July 11, 2009 Where? The only ones that I know about are at Worth Street and 42nd Street Lower Level. I think I've seen them up by 145th or 135th or 155th (somewhere up there) where the Concourse line merges on. I'm not so sure about that though. KTrainExp Posted July 11, 2009 Share #9 Posted July 11, 2009 145th and 135th have no bell mouths. Maybe a very small one to hold some track material, but definitely not in the full scale of a hidden rail line.

R32 3348 Posted July 11, 2009 Share #12 Posted July 11, 2009 Thanks. So yes I have seen some bell mouths on the 8th Ave line. Actually a bellmouth is an opening in the tunnel that is a provision for a new line to be built. The first one that comes to mind for me is the one on the before Lexington - 63rd for a provision for a connection to SAS Phase 3.

Hope this helps. 4. That is not a bell mouth, it is open space of the line tracks. Also many of the places you have listed are known areas and are not bell mouths. As subwayguy said a bell mouth is a tunnel where there is no track. Alot of the places you listed are lay-up tracks or yard leads and unused tracks. I did not see that the OP also wanted unused track ways and how is anything I said ludacris? Where was the attack and why is it so important anyway? Guest Charles Posted July 11, 2009 Share #18 Posted July 11, 2009 Queens Blvd is full of them. There's a big one right after Woodhaven Blvd, heading eastbound (towards Forest Hills + Jamaica) btw using words like "attacking" to respond to other's helpful comments in your posts makes your own post sound, in your words, ludicrous.
