Y2Julio Posted August 5, 2009 Share #2 Posted August 5, 2009 I would like to remind everyone that the Capital plan is just that, thing's the MTA want's to do. It is subject to change at any time, so please don't read into this as "fact".

It is subject to change at any time, so please don't read into this as "fact". definitely. i just compared it to the 2008 release and several projects got pushed back a few months, one being 64 R160A-1's for the being pushed from 8/2010 to 2/2011. note that there is also no mention of funding for the R179 anywhere in the document or an R160 option III. MTR Admiralty Posted August 5, 2009 Share #4 Posted August 5, 2009 So, the second option order will provide 90 extra cars to the system.
Amtrak7 Posted August 5, 2009 Share #5 Posted August 5, 2009 Notice that it calls for the purchase of 20 new A division cars. So that means the R188 will come before R179?

Looks like there is funding for both the Flushing CBTC and the new railcars. So, I guess we all know what will happen soon: Flushing Line CBTC
trainfan22 Posted August 5, 2009 Share #8 Posted August 5, 2009 Read though some of it, interesting. I saw that they want refit 64 R160s for CBTC. So I guess the line will have its own fleet of R160s.

metsfan Posted August 7, 2009 Share #10 Posted August 7, 2009 Several questions: Whats the SSI pilot for bergen st? (Sep 09 at 74.5M) 3 interlockings for 8 AV? (Apr 10 139.3M$) Signal Key-By Mod?(Dec 13 26.8M$) Sounds like replacing the signals and rebuilding the interlocking layout at those locations. A very long labor & materials intensive process that would severely disrupt overnight & weekend service & possibly daytime service. Key by may be for allowing signal block space overlaps in certain situations, such as moving trains away from a hazard, or allowing emergency response people to move a train into a station with one either still partly in the station or just past it to access the area near the station to respond to an incident. Modifying that maybe simple safety updates to the existing system. Not sure really though, just a guess. - A
