Harry Posted August 7, 2009 Share #1 Posted August 7, 2009 A massive water main break in Tribeca Friday flooded 15 buildings, disrupted subways and wreaked havoc on the morning commute. Residents of five buildings on West Broadway were evacuated as the geyser ripped up the intersection of Duane St. and West Broadway and sent water gushing for blocks. Water poured into the subway, causing delays on the No. , and lines. Emergency workers rushed to shut the main and cops closed several streets in the area. Duane St. was closed between Hudson and Church sets. West Broadway was blocked between Read and Worth sts. The M20 bus line was diverted at Worth St. to Broadway. Some city buses were being used as waiting areas for some of the people who were evacuated. MTR Admiralty Posted August 7, 2009 Share #2 Posted August 7, 2009 That's really big news, reminds me of that steam pipe incident 2 years ago. I wonder how much water left the main.
